In order for the image captured from the screen immediately saved to the file, open Settings - Saving and turn on the option Automatic image saving. Here I choose the folder where the files will be saved. In this case, after pressing the hot keys, the program will save the screenshot in the file and will open the file in its own editor. In general, Picpick is very impressive with its capabilities and is largely inferior to similar programs. And due to the free utility, it is possible to consider as the main tool to capture the screen.

How to make a screenshot of the screen using Picpick

Now that we have dealt with all the settings, it's time to do directly creating screenshots. If we close the settings window, the main Picpick window will be detected.

If you are used to using various keyboard combinations, you can easily turn off the display of this window, checking the checkbox "Do not display this window when starting the program" in the lower left corner. If you are not accustomed to "hot keys", you can safely use this window for your own purposes :).

All functions in the main Picpick window are sorted into two columns: in the left there are actions related to images and their capture, and in the right - additional graphics tools.

To activate any task or tool, it is enough to press the corresponding button to it.

By the way, if you hid the main window, then you can access all the program management buttons through the Picpick context menu in the tray.

Once you decide on the desired capture option, you should press the corresponding button (or "hot" keys on the keyboard), after which the frame may appear in certain modes to determine the image area.

If for some reason you have changed my mind to make a screenshot, in this mode it is enough to click the right mouse button. Otherwise, the shot immediately will open in the embedded graphic editor.

To the resulting image, we can apply a series of effects, add arrows and carrying different shapes with explanatory text, as well as draw arbitrary figures, add any text and apply any parts of the image clipboard.

Unfortunately, the picture editor Picpick does not know how to work with the layers, but you can still combine two pictures :). For this, as I said, you need to copy the desired fragment to the clipboard in advance, and then just insert it into any place of the new screenshot.

From the same menu, you can send the resulting screenshot to print, lay it out on the Internet or open in another program, for example, for additional processing!

Additional tools Picpick.

With the capture of images and the subsequent processing of the screenshots of the problems you now have no need to have, therefore, to fully familiarize yourself with the program, I propose to study its additional functions.

In the main Picpick window, they are called "graphical instruments" and are collected in the right column. And the first one is "color under the cursor."

With it, as applied from the name, we can capture any color on our monitor! When you activate this tool, the mouse cursor acquires the form of a pipette and the zoom window appears, which we can use to more accurately determine the desired shade on the screen.

Here we already see a full range of colors with all sorts of shades, any of which can be selected and copy, for example, into the code of your program or in the graphic editor's palette. And here you can already change the modes of color display, and their encoding!

If you do not need to capture color, and just want to consider any small details on the monitor screen, then you can use the "Zoom window" tool.

It allows you to quickly increase the desired area under the mouse cursor to a 10-fold size, which is one order more than that of the on-screen magnifying glass.

The following three tools can be very useful to WEB developers, because help produce various linear measurements of any objects on the screen. And the first function here goes "line".

It allows you to measure the width and height of any elements displayed on the monitor. To measure it as simple as the usual line - it is enough to establish the beginning of the floating window "line" to the beginning of the object being measured, and then sum up the cursor to the opposite edge of the element of interest.

You can set up a ruler by the context menu that allows you to position the tool vertically or horizontally, change the measurement units (default pixels), transparency and its color.

It is even easier for them than the "ruler." The result is achieved in three clicks:

1. First we fix the point in which the measured angle is located.
2. The second is fixing the first adjacent vector that generates an angle.
3. Third - we indicate the second segment, after which we get the value of the angle in degrees up to minutes!

The last measuring instrument is "Crosshairs".

This tool is similar to its functionality on the "ruler", but, unlike it, it allows you to measure both the width and height of any object on the screen simultaneously, though only in pixels.

To start the measurement, you need to click on the left mouse button in the "zero" point of measurement, and then using the crosshair that appears and the zoom window adjust the end point. Under the crosshair will be displayed sizes in pixels in width and height.

The last optional Picpick tool is a "stylist board".

With it, we have the ability to draw directly across the screen. Such a function can be useful to people who often conduct presentations or write video tutorials, as it allows to emphasize the attention of the viewer at specific objects.

When you activate a "stylist board", a small toolbar appears on the screen on which:
