Huawei G700 smartphone: review, specifications, firmware, games, photos and reviews. Huawei G700: review, technical specifications, instructions and reviews Technical characteristics of Huawei ascend g700

Screen type: IPS (In Plane Switching) is a high-quality liquid crystal matrix that was created to eliminate the main disadvantages of TN technology matrices. The IPS matrix most adequately conveys colors across the entire spectrum at different viewing angles, with the exception of some color positions. The TN matrix usually has a better response than IPS, but not always. So, when transitioning from gray to gray, the IPS matrix behaves better. This matrix is also resistant to pressure. Touching the TN or VA matrix results in a "excitement" or a certain reaction on the screen. The IPS matrix does not have this effect. In addition, ophthalmologists confirm that the IPS matrix is the most comfortable for the eyes. In this *s*m* way, the IPS matrix brings a bright and clear picture regardless of viewing angles, best for surfing the Internet and watching movies. But the most important thing is for image processing and viewing photos. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) - Liquid crystal displays. The very first displays used in mobile devices, and not only in phones. Their main feature is that they have very low power consumption, due to the inability to display color images. They do not emit light and therefore phones are upgraded with backlight lamps. Some phones had several different backlight colors based on the presence of different LEDs around the perimeter of the display. This extraordinary solution was used, for example, in the Ericsson A3618 phone. On this type of display, pixels are clearly visible, and such displays cannot boast of high resolution. In order to extend the life of such displays, they were made inverse, i.e. text and symbols were not displayed as filled pixels, but, on the contrary, inactive against the background of filled ones. This resulted in light text on a dark background. Currently, this type of display is used in the cheapest budget models (Nokia 1112) and as an external display in some clamshells (Samsung D830).

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) - Liquid crystal displays based on thin film transistors with an active matrix. For each pixel there are three transistors corresponding to three colors (RGB - red, green, blue). At the moment, these are the most common displays and have a number of advantages over other displays. They are characterized by minimal response time and rapid development - ever-increasing resolution and number of colors. These displays are most common in mid-range and higher phones. Working resolutions for them: 128x160, 132x176, 176x208, 176x220, 240x320 and others, less common. Examples: Nokia N73 (240x320, 262K colors), Sony Ericsson K750i (176x220, 262K colors), Samsung D900 (240x320, 262K colors). TFTs are very rarely used as external displays for clamshells.

CSTN (Color Super Twisted Nematic) - Color liquid crystal displays with a passive matrix. Each pixel of such a display consists of three combined pixels, which correspond to three colors (RGB). Some time ago, almost all phones with color displays were based on this type. And now the destiny of such displays is budget models. The main disadvantage of such displays is their slowness. The undoubted advantage of such displays is their cost, which is significantly lower than TFT. Based on simple logic, we can assume that in the future TFT will displace this type of display from the mobile device market. The color evolution of such displays is quite extensive: from 16 to 65536 colors. Examples: Motorola V177 (128x160, 65K colors), Sony Ericsson J100i (96x64, 65K colors), Nokia 2310 (96x68, 65K colors).

UFB (Ultra Fine and Bright) - Liquid crystal displays with increased brightness and contrast on a passive matrix. We can say that this is an intermediate option between CSTN and TFT. This type of display boasts lower power consumption compared to TFT. For the most part, Samsung used such displays in mid-range phones. This type of display is not widely used. Examples: Samsung C100/110 (128x128, 65k colors).

TN is one of the matrix types of TFT screens. Roughly speaking, TN are the simplest and cheapest TFT matrices. Viewing angles are the narrowest.

The second half of 2013 was marked by the start of smartphone sales. This device belongs to the middle price range and is built on a fairly powerful hardware platform. At the same time, its cost is very modest.

The computing heart of a smartphone

Be that as it may, the main component of any computing system is the central processor. The more productive it is, the better. Huawei G700 is built on the basis of a 4-core processor from the Chinese company MediaTek, model MTK6589. Its frequency is 1.2 GHz. Each of the cores is based on the Cortex architecture of revision A7. Simply put, the performance of each of them individually is low, but if you combine them together, you get a pretty good solution that allows you to easily cope with most tasks today. At the same time, the energy efficiency of such a chip is impeccable. Depending on the degree of complexity of the task being solved, the clock frequency of each core can vary in the range from 300 MHz to 1.2 GHz. And that is not all. The core can be turned off to save battery power if it is not currently being used to process information.

Graphic arts

Huawei G700 and its graphics adapter are no less optimistic. This device integrates the SGX544 chip developed by PowerVR. Again, don't expect phenomenal performance from it. But still, its computing resources are quite sufficient for most everyday tasks, from surfing websites to browsing books and mediocre toys. The screen diagonal of this smartphone is 5 inches. Its resolution is 1280 pixels in height and 720 in width. Their density is 294 PPI, that is, the image displayed on the screen is presented to the user in HD quality. The hardware provides processing of up to five touches on the surface of the sensor, which is made using capacitive technology. The display is based on a high-quality IPS matrix, which is capable of displaying about 16 million colors. That is, the image is of high quality, pleasing to the eye, and the color rendition of the display of the Huawei G700 smartphone is ideal. Overall, an excellent combination of price and quality.

What about memory?

The strong point is the memory of the Huawei G700. Most analogues of this device are equipped with RAM (1 GB capacity) of the fastest standard currently on the market (DDR3), as well as built-in memory with a capacity of 4 GB. As for the gadget we are considering, we are talking about 2 GB of RAM with a similar level of performance and 8 GB of integrated memory. That is, in both the first and second cases the volume is doubled. This has the best effect on the final performance of the device. There is also a slot for installing a memory card. In this case, modifications of the MicroSD format up to 32 GB are supported. This is enough to place a whole bunch of different applications, movies and music on the gadget.

Appearance and body

A classic all-in-one with support for screen input - this is the Huawei G700. The photos presented to your attention are further confirmation of this. The device is available in two color options: white and black. The dimensions of the device are 142 millimeters in height and 722 in width. At the same time, the thickness of the gadget is only 9 millimeters. For a mid-class device, these are excellent performance. Its weight is 155 grams. On the front (bottom) there are three classic buttons: menu, home page, previous screen. You can also find a thin microphone hole here. The bottom panel has a microUSB standard port. It can be used to charge the battery or connect to a personal computer.

Above the screen there is a speaker, which is covered with a metal mesh. On the left, like most models of this class, there is a volume swing. There is a power button on the opposite side of the case. But hidden on top is a 3.5 mm jack for an external speaker system. On the back side, at the bottom, there is a speakerphone, covered with a decorative metal grille. Case material - plastic. The display is made of the same material, and there is no protective coating on it. It is surrounded along the entire perimeter by a chrome insert. In general, you simply cannot do without a protective film. The situation is similar with the case - you need a case.

About the camera

The main camera of the Huawei G700 is located on the back side. It is based on an 8 megapixel matrix. There is also automatic image stabilization technology. For photography and video recording in the dark, there is an LED flash next to it. The maximum resolution of the resulting digital photographs is 3264 by 2448 pixels. For video, this value is 1920 by 1080 pixels, that is, in HD quality format. But the front camera cannot boast of such characteristics. A 1.3 megapixel matrix is already used here. Its image quality is mediocre, but it is quite enough for making video calls (which is exactly what it is intended for).

Battery

Another strong point is the battery for the Huawei G700. Reviews from satisfied owners of this smartphone model are further confirmation of this. In this case we are talking about a capacity of 2150 milliampere/hour. Users say that with minimal load its volume is enough for a week of work. But with more intensive use - for a day, maximum - for 2. Taking into account the display diagonal of 5 inches and a fairly powerful hardware platform, this is an excellent indicator that not every device of this class can boast of.

System software

An unusual operating system is installed on the Huawei G700. The firmware currently installed on this device indicates Android version number 4.2, codenamed “Gilly Bean”. It seems to be outdated. But still it is quite enough to run all applications. But the trick of this gadget is the special Emotion setting from the same Huawei company. When you first get acquainted with it, it is not entirely convenient to work with. But if you get used to it, you will get a significant increase in performance.

Settings

In addition to the previously mentioned Emotion shell, quite a lot of other software is installed. First of all, social services. There is Twitter and Facebook. But domestic VKontakte and Odnoklassniki will have to be additionally installed from the Play Market. Widgets are also installed. But games for the Huawei G700 are not included in the basic configuration. So you will have to install them again from the same Play Market. To listen to music in MP3 and radio format, the necessary software is present initially. There are also classic utilities: calendar, alarm clock, gallery (for viewing pictures and photos) and calculator. True, the last of them is suitable for simple calculations. But complex mathematical calculations are difficult to do with its help. Therefore, it is better to download a special mathematical calculator for these purposes.

Additional software

Almost all tasks without exception can be solved by the Huawei G700. Its characteristics, discussed above, allow us to draw the following conclusion. As for accessing the Internet, it is better to use a third-party browser, for example, Opera. In addition to viewing pages, it allows you to download files of any size without any problems. To view books in the “*.pdf” format, you need to additionally install Adobe Reader or any other similar application. For text and table files, it is recommended to use Kingsoft Office. Its main advantage is that it is free. To watch movies, you need to install a specialized program, for example, MX Player. Again, this player is free. Most of the toys will work on this device without any problems. So you can install whatever your heart desires, with rare exceptions.

Data exchange

As for communications, everything is excellent here with the Huawei G700. Its characteristics in this regard are as follows:

  • Dual-band data transmission module. It allows the device to function successfully in both second and third generation networks. But the lack of support for LTE (that is, 4th generation networks) is not critical: the phone is in the mid-price range. Integrating such an advanced module would significantly increase the cost of the device.
  • Wi-Fi standard transmitter. It provides the maximum data transfer speed to the Internet. But the range of such wireless networks is small.
  • To connect to other similar devices, Bluetooth revision 4.0 is installed. It is backward compatible with pre-existing standards, so there should be no problems transferring data using this standard.
  • To connect to a personal computer, the USB revision 2.0 interface is used. The same socket is also used to recharge the battery.
  • The 3.5 mm jack is provided separately. A convenient and practical solution in case you want to listen to music.
  • Another feature of the device is the presence of a GPS transmitter. With its help, you can easily and simply plot a route through unfamiliar terrain.
  • For more accurate location determination, an A-GPS transmitter is used. It determines the distance to the nearest mobile towers and adjusts the GPS data based on this data.

The only drawback of this model is the lack of an infrared port. But this remark is immaterial. Most modern devices of this class already come without this option. And the range of 10 centimeters is not relevant. It is being successfully replaced by Bluetooth. So its absence cannot be considered a disadvantage. Otherwise, the set of communications is similar to other models in this class.

Users' opinions

An excellent ratio of hardware resources and software is about the Huawei G700 smartphone. Reviews from satisfied owners of this gadget only confirm this. What did users particularly like? Firstly, an ideal processor that can handle most tasks today. Secondly, sufficient memory. There should be no problems installing applications. A powerful graphics subsystem will allow you to fully unleash the potential of this device. At the same time, its autonomy is at an acceptable level.

Let's sum it up

The ideal combination of performance and autonomy - this is how the Huawei G700 can be described in a nutshell. Its price today is about $250. Overall, an excellent mid-range smartphone. Its resources are sufficient for the next 2-3 years. Therefore, if you are thinking about buying such a device, you can safely pay attention to this model. It is ideal for all occasions.

If earlier Chinese products raised doubts, recently smartphones from the Middle Kingdom have become popular. The fact is that this equipment is well equipped, reasonably priced and of fairly good quality. The indisputable advantages also include the fact that Chinese manufacturers offer their products in a wide price range. Naturally, this simplifies the choice as much as possible. The user can give preference to both budget and mid-range devices. The latter include Huawei smartphones. G700 U10 is a 2013 model, which at the start of sales was presented with a price tag of about 12,000 rubles. It is equipped with a pretty good hardware platform. In addition, the manufacturer offers a high-quality screen and camera. What other features of the G700 might interest the user? Let's figure it out.

Set of components

Before studying in detail the characteristics of the Huawei Ascend G700 smartphone, let's see what the manufacturer offers in the kit. The box in which the phone is packaged looks stylish. It is decorated in white. On the front panel there is a large image of a smartphone. Thanks to this, even without looking inside, you can understand what the device looks like. In addition to the image of the gadget, the manufacturer presented the name at the top of the box, and there is a logo at the bottom.

Small packaging containers. It is literally a few millimeters larger than the dimensions of the device itself. The phone is packed first. It is separated from accessories by a thin cardboard backing. The set includes instructions and a warranty card for the device. The latter must be filled out on the day of sale by an employee of the store where the gadget was purchased. Be sure to pay attention to the presence of a seal, since without it the warranty card is invalid.

What else is in the box? Separately packaged is a removable battery and a cable with a microUSB connector, which is used to connect to other devices and recharge. It comes with a network adapter. In addition to this standard set, the manufacturer equipped the gadget with a wired headset.

Appearance and dimensions

The Huawei G700 is a typical candy bar equipped with a touch screen. The body shape is rectangular. The corners are minimally rounded. This gadget can be purchased only in two colors. The manufacturer gave preference to classic colors: black and white.

Users have no special comments about the size. The thickness is not large, it is 8.95 mm. This gadget is equipped with a 5-inch screen; it has a width of 72.8 mm and a height of 142.5 mm. As you can see, these dimensions are quite typical for such devices. After installing the battery, the device weighs 155 g. Carrying it in the pocket of a summer shirt will most likely be inconvenient, but it fits easily in jeans, a purse or a woman’s bag.

It is worth noting that the phone looks somewhat aggressive in appearance. The fact is that the manufacturer has practically abandoned smooth lines. However, one cannot call him ugly either.

On the front panel the buyer will see a 5-inch touch screen. It is surrounded by a rather thick frame. Its lower part is much wider than its upper part. This creates a feeling of asymmetry. Why the manufacturer made this particular decision is unclear. But as they say, what is, is already there. So, in the upper part, in addition to the company logo, there is a speaker hole. The manufacturer protected it with a fine chrome mesh. The front camera lens is located on the left side. There are also proximity and light sensors. On the opposite side below, the user will see a standard control panel. More about her a little later.

Now let's look at what the manufacturer has brought to the rear panel. As in the case of the front, no unexpected decisions are expected from the buyer here. At the top are the camera lens and flash. Both of these elements are made in a round shape. They are displayed symmetrically (vertically) to each other. Above them is a small hole for an additional microphone. Just below these elements, the manufacturer printed the company logo. And the last thing you can see on the back panel is the output speaker hole. It is located at the bottom and shifted to the left side.

The body of this model is made of plastic. Unfortunately, the manufacturer used the same material for the screen. No protective coatings are provided. Therefore, it is extremely important to immediately take care of the film or glass before use. This will help protect the device from scratches and chips. In some reviews, users say that the material used for the case is not resistant to mechanical damage. Based on this, it is recommended to purchase a case.

Controls and communications

As mentioned above, the Huawei G700 has a standard control panel. It is equipped with three touch keys. In the center is the Home button. On the right side, the developers displayed a task manager, and on the left, a “Back” arrow.

To install SIM cards, the user needs to remove the back panel. Under it you will have access to the battery. A little higher, the manufacturer has placed slots for cellular operator cards. The first one supports GSM and WCDMA communications. The second one is designed for GSM only. There is also a slot for a memory card.

Now let's look at the controls. As in most similar devices, the lock key is located on the right side. As for the volume button, it is presented in the form of an elongated “swing” and is located on the left side. The manufacturer placed the main microphone hole and microUSB connector at the bottom end of the device. According to most users, this is quite convenient. This device has a standard port for connecting headphones. It is located at the top end, so there will be no discomfort while listening to music.

Screen

According to most users, one of the significant advantages of this model is the screen. Huawei G700 is equipped with a 5-inch display. The resolution is decent - HD. It is worth noting that the manufacturer did not skimp on specifications. The density of the screen implemented in the device is 294 ppi. This allows you not to feel any discomfort while using the device. The image appears clearly. The screen is not divided into “squares”. As for the multi-touch option, it is also implemented in this gadget. Up to 5 touches made simultaneously are supported.

When describing the characteristics of the screen, it is necessary to draw the buyer’s attention to the type of matrix. Not only the image quality, but also the viewing angles will depend on it. The display in this phone is made using IPS technology. According to users, color rendition is close to ideal. Even with prolonged interaction, the eyes do not get tired. In total, the screen is capable of displaying more than 16 million colors. All of them are as close to realistic as possible. In the reviews, all users, without exception, believe that the manufacturer has optimally maintained the quality/price balance according to this criterion.

Main camera

Nowadays, when a smartphone is equipped with two optics models, this no longer surprises anyone. Naturally, like many similar devices, the Huawei G700 has both a front and a main camera. As for the latter, the manufacturer installed an 8-megapixel sensor in it. In order to improve image quality, the developers have implemented automatic stabilization. This technology allows you to achieve maximum clarity and a high level of detail even in small objects. The manufacturer also made sure that the user had the opportunity to take pictures in poor lighting. In this case, the device has an LED flash that can operate in three modes: automatic, manual and completely off. The resolution of the resulting images is 3264 × 2448 pixels. Judging by these characteristics, we can conclude that the photo, even on a large screen, will not be divided into “squares”.

You can shoot video using the main camera. Recording is carried out with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, which is also quite good. The frame rate per second is 30. By and large, the owners have no comments about this camera.

Front-camera

What can be said about the characteristics of the front module? Here the situation is not as good as with the main camera. All the user can count on is the quality produced by the 1.3 megapixel sensor. The pictures come out mediocre. Color reproduction is poor, problems with detail are noticeable, and digital noise may appear. In reviews, users say that this camera is only suitable for video communication.

Hardware platform

Despite the importance of all the criteria by which a buyer selects a gadget, the main one is the central processor. It is he who acts as the “heart” of the smartphone. What chip did the manufacturer implement in the Huawei G700? The hardware platform is built on a processor from the famous MediaTek brand. This company is also Chinese, so it is not at all surprising why the manufacturer chose it.

What characteristics does the MTK6589 chipset model have? It is based on four computing elements. Each of them is based on the Cortex-A7 architecture. The maximum to which they accelerate when the load increases is 1200 megahertz. Advanced users say the following about the hardware platform: if we consider the capabilities of each core separately, then the performance is unlikely to impress anyone. However, good results were achieved by combining them.

The Huawei G700 smartphone copes with all tasks. Its undeniable advantages also include the level of energy efficiency. The fact is that at low load the processor cores operate at a frequency of 300 megahertz (minimum). The developers also introduced innovative technology. It is built on the fact that computing modules that the device does not need at a certain moment can be temporarily disabled. And this significantly saves battery power.

As for the graphic components, the PowerVR SGX544 chip is responsible for the image in this model. Those who are well versed in technical specifications will understand that this adapter is not designed for high performance. However, it is worth noting that its capabilities will be more than enough for everyday work (viewing e-books, surfing the Internet, playing games). But as for the latter, they should be average in terms of characteristics.

Huawei G700: memory specifications

Speaking about the advantages of this smartphone model, it is necessary to note the amount of RAM. At the time of release, most competitors were equipped with one gigabyte. But in the G700 the manufacturer sold as much as 2 GB. Accordingly, the performance level of the device has increased significantly.

A few words need to be said about the built-in storage. Its volume is 8 GB. It is important to understand that it will not be completely available to the user. After testing, the owners wrote in their comments that you can count on approximately 5 GB. This is the volume provided for installing user files. In order to expand the integrated storage, the manufacturer has provided support for memory cards. The maximum capacity of flash drives that the phone can work with is 32 GB.

Autonomy

It's time to talk about an important criterion for any mobile device. We are talking about a battery. It is this that provides the user with freedom of movement. In the Huawei G700 U10, the manufacturer installed a battery with a capacity of 2150 milliamps per hour. As the owners assure, its resource is enough for approximately 2 days of work. However, it is worth understanding that these deadlines may vary depending on the load.

  • If you use your smartphone for games, the battery will run out after about 3-4 hours.
  • If the user often goes online, then the smartphone can operate on a single charge for no more than 10 hours. This period corresponds to a connection via Wi-Fi. When using 3G mobile Internet, the operating time will be reduced by 2 hours.
  • To watch videos or movies in high definition, the battery life will last for 5 hours.

Software

For those who have previously used pure Android gadgets, the firmware in the Huawei G700 U10 will seem unusual. It's all about the proprietary graphical shell. The system itself is represented by the fourth version of Android. It's called Jelly Bean. Of course, at the moment, it is considered quite outdated, since now many gadgets come out with 7 and even 8 versions. However, it is too early to write down the software as shortcomings. It has its undeniable advantages. For example, the manufacturer has perfectly adapted the Emotion launcher. The system works without freezing, applications open quickly, changing the screen takes no more than a second. And if in the first reviews users spoke about some inconvenience of working with the shell, then after a few days they appreciated how quickly all the actions were performed.

Working with applications: brief instructions

If the appearance of the Huawei Ascend G700 firmware caused some confusion among owners, the performance of the system impressed many. Users cited a large number of compatible applications as advantages. For example, to access the Internet, it is recommended not to use the built-in browser, but to download a third-party one from the Play Market, for example, Opera is currently popular.

Those who read e-books will need to install a special application - Adobe Reader. It allows you to open all PDF files. The store also offers other programs that can be used to view books. The user can choose them at his own discretion.

If you want to watch movies on the Huawei G700 U10 screen, you will need to install the MX Player utility. Its advantage is that it is completely free. It is also worth paying attention to the fact that games are not installed on the phone out of the box. However, this does not mean that you have to give them up. In the same Play Market you can find toys for every taste. The only thing that is important is to pay attention to the characteristics, because when running heavy and resource-intensive applications, the phone may freeze a little.

Recently, smartphones from China have become very popular. This is explained by several points:

  • Firstly, the equipment created by Chinese companies is much cheaper than the products of Korean or American companies (although both of them are mostly assembled in China).
  • Secondly, the Chinese began to produce reliable and, at the same time, high-tech equipment.
  • Smartphones from China have a wide range of prices, and the consumer has a choice. Depending on the capabilities, a person can purchase both a cheap and an expensive smartphone produced by one company, for example, Huawei produces both expensive smartphones () and cheap ones (for example, Honor 4).

Some of the most popular models belonging to the budget segment are the Huawei Ascend G700 U10 and Huawei Ascend G700 U20 smartphones.

The description of the device should begin with the delivery kit. It includes:

  • Directly, the smartphone itself,
  • Accumulator battery,
  • Headset (wired),
  • Network adapter,
  • Cable for charging and synchronization with PC,
  • Instructions,
  • Warranty card.

Design

The Huawei G700 smartphone has a rustic design, typical of many budget phones. In the front of the device, above the five-inch display, there is a front camera, a speaker grille, light and proximity sensors, as well as a light indicator that informs the smartphone owner about missed events. Just below the speaker, there is a silver Huawei inscription. Functional touch keys are traditionally located under the display. It is worth noting that they are not backlit.

At the top edge of the device there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, on the left side there is a volume rocker, on the right there is a power button, and at the bottom there is a connector for recharging and synchronization with a computer, and the main microphone.

On the back surface of the smartphone you can find a hole for the second microphone, it is responsible for the noise reduction function, just below is the peephole of the main camera and the LED responsible for the flash. Well, at the bottom of the back surface there is a small slot for the main speaker of the device.

The phone is made of plastic. The back cover of the device is matte and comes in white and black versions. The build quality of the smartphone is also excellent - there are no backlashes or gaps, and a slight squeak can only be heard when you try to twist the phone very tightly.

Display

The screen of the Huawei G700 U10 smartphone has a diagonal of 5 inches and a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. It is interesting that, despite the budget status of the model, the display is equipped with quite good viewing angles. In addition, the phone boasts a comfortable level of color brightness. Some discomfort is caused by using the device in bright light, but otherwise there are no problems. There is an oleophobic coating on the screen, which allows you not to wipe the display for a long time, since fingerprints practically do not remain on the device.

Cameras

The device is equipped with two cameras: front and main. The front one has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels, and rather mediocre shooting quality: however, this is quite enough for selfies in good lighting and video calls. The main camera is equipped with a flash and a resolution of 8 megapixels. It is characterized by insufficient color rendition, poor white balance, and the presence of noise that will not allow the smartphone to be used as a camera. However, in order to photograph readable text, the camera’s capabilities are sufficient.

A few words about performance

The device has a quad-core processor with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz. Surprisingly, the mobile phone is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of main memory. The user, after starting the smartphone, has access to 1.5 GB of RAM and 5.3 GB of main memory. If necessary, it is possible to use a memory expansion card of up to 32 GB.

The characteristics of the smartphone allow you to run most modern games and applications. In addition, the device works without freezes or slowdowns. However, with intensive use of the phone, some stuttering is possible.

Autonomy

The phone has a removable battery with a capacity of 2150 mAh. In normal operation, one charge is enough for 2 days of operation. If you use the smartphone as a game console, at maximum brightness, the phone will work for 3-4 hours. Watching high-definition video, also at maximum settings – 5 hours. Working on the Internet via the Wi-Fi module is 10 hours, and via 3G – 8 hours.

Differences between U20 and U10

The phone was introduced in 2014. The smartphone on the Russian market was presented in two models: Huawei U20 and U10. The “10th” model was equipped with two slots for SIM cards: one of the slots could only function on 2G, the other supported both 2G and 3G, respectively. Huawei U20 has only one slot that supports 2G and 3G standards. It is worth noting that the characteristics of the U20 do not allow the smartphone to be used for LTE connections. In all other respects, these models are identical: design, camera, technical stuffing.

Results

To summarize, it is worth saying that the G700 U10 and G700 U20 smartphones from Huawei turned out to be quite successful, and are definitely worth the money (at the time of its appearance on the Russian market, the device cost around 12 thousand rubles). The gadget's features include fairly good build quality, a high-quality screen, and a graphical shell that is installed on top of the Android 4.2 operating system. The shell from the manufacturer assumes the presence of built-in design themes, and the ability for the user to generate a theme based on the built-in design elements. Of course, by now the model is somewhat outdated, but for those who need a high-quality and reliable smartphone to solve everyday problems, the phone can still be useful.

When choosing a new smartphone, even ordinary users pay attention to the characteristics. Many people are interested in the processor (number of cores), camera quality (number of megapixels), and screen diagonal. Advanced users usually know what they want, but very often you can hear sighs “if only there were more RAM/screen/battery” in discussions of this or that smartphone. On paper, the Huawei Ascend G700 looks like a “super smartphone” for a very reasonable price, but let's take a closer look at it.

Design, ergonomics

The appearance of the Huawei G700 is quite simple; its design can be called industrial. On the front of the case there is a front camera peephole, a speaker, proximity and lighting sensors, a neat miniature light indicator and three touch control keys (“Back”, “Home” and “Menu”). On the top end you can find a headphone jack, on the left side there is a volume key, on the right side there is a power button, the bottom end contains a Micro-USB connector and a hole for the main microphone. Lined up behind each other is a second microphone, a camera lens and a flash, and a small slot for a calling speaker.

Ascend G700 is made of plastic, the cover is matte, milky white, fingerprints are invisible on it. In addition to white, an option with a black lid should appear on sale. The device is assembled quite well, there are no gaps, and a slight creaking can only be achieved by squeezing the device firmly. The cover is secured with a variety of latches and is much easier to remove than in other devices with a similar design.

The smartphone looks “square”, which may make it seem uncomfortable to use. This is also hinted at by the wide frames around the display. In reality, ergonomics are at an average level. Well-placed controls and a rounded lid slightly smooth out the rectangularity of the case. Sharp edges can cause discomfort if you wear a smartphone in skinny jeans with shallow pockets. The keys have a soft press with a quiet click; they are clearly distinguishable to the touch, although some users may find them too sluggish.

Screen

Huawei G700 has a 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels and wide viewing angles. The minimum brightness is 12.5 cd/m2, the average value is 152 cd/m2, the maximum is 318 cd/m2. Below are the results of objective measurements of the display.

Judging by them, the Ascend G700 has an average quality matrix. In practice, the picture looks clear and bright; the lower quality of the screen can only be noticed when directly compared with other smartphones. The low minimum brightness makes it relatively comfortable to read the screen in the dark; the maximum backlight level is enough for comfortable perception of information on the street. What raises doubts is that the maximum screen brightness level is not too high - on a sunny summer day it may not be enough.

The finger glides well on the glass, but there is no oleophobic coating - because of this, the screen very quickly becomes covered with fingerprints, which cannot always be removed by simply wiping it on clothing. Automatic brightness adjustment works correctly, but with slight delays.

Interface

The smartphone runs on the Android 4.2.1 operating system, the standard interface has been replaced by Huawei’s own development – the Emotion UI shell version 1.6. It borrows some ideas from other, more well-known solutions (MIUI and iOS). At first it may seem that the shell significantly changes the appearance of Android 4.2, but in fact it is just a launcher with a set of pre-installed themes.

Thus, in Emotion UI it was decided to abandon the usual application menu - all installed programs are located on the desktop. The maximum number of desktops is nine. You can create folders by dragging application icons on top of each other; a folder can contain up to 16 applications. The icons of pre-installed applications have a non-standard shape, which is why the icons of user programs have a background behind them - more or less successful, depending on the selected theme.

There are seven themes available in total. Each one is a set of desktop and lock screen wallpaper, app icon and lock screen style, font, and notification tones. You can use either a completely ready-made theme or customize your own by selecting individual elements you like from each theme.

To change the animation when flipping through desktops, adding widgets, or adjusting the number of desktops, you need to hold your finger on an empty space on the desktop or press the “Menu” button.

The use of Emotion UI has imposed certain limitations on the standard functionality of Android Jelly Bean. You won't be able to add widgets to adjacent lock screens. The notification panel is accessible from the locked screen.

The smartphone comes with a couple of pre-installed programs and a basic set of software from the manufacturer. There are no programs that deserve special mention. In the best traditions of Chinese smartphones, you can find localization flaws in some menus, fortunately there are very few of them.

Calls, multimedia

Huawei G700 is a dual-SIM smartphone. Standard size SIM cards (miniSIM) are used. The card installed in slot No. 1 can operate in second or third generation networks, the second - only in GSM mode. One radio module is used, call control is implemented similarly to other smartphones with two SIM cards. During testing, there were no significant complaints about the telephone component. The device picks up the network well, uses a high-quality speaker and microphone - there were no complaints about poor audibility from the interlocutors. The voices of the interlocutors sound clear, the speaker volume is sufficient in most situations; in noisy environments you have to use the maximum volume level. The vibration alert is relatively weak, the ringing speaker is loud, but can wheeze at maximum volume - it depends on the selected ringtone.

The quality of music playback in headphones is at a level typical for such devices; we can say that it should be sufficient for the vast majority of users. There is a setting for improving sound with the strange name “BesAudEnh” - when activated, the sound turns into “porridge”. The output signal power is below the average level of many smartphones - when using headphones with a resistance of 16 Ohms, the comfortable volume level was 9-10 values out of 13 possible. Using higher impedance headphones may be problematic.

Performance, memory

The smartphone is based on the MediaTek MT6589 hardware platform, 4 Cortex-A7 cores operate at a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The amount of RAM is 2 GB. Such equipment is sufficient to solve any problems. Modern games run without problems, the interface works smoothly.

With very active use, minimal stuttering may be observed: excessive sharpness of the animation is noticeable - the smartphone tries to open applications at lightning speed, which does not always look beautiful. After downloading, more than 1.5 GB of RAM remains free. Of the built-in 8 GB of memory, 5.3 GB are available for installing applications and user data. You can install a memory card.

There is a standard set of modules: Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and sensors. There were no complaints about their work. In the latest generations of MediaTek processors, GPS has begun to work much better, but still the stability of satellite signal reception differs noticeably from model to model. In synthetic tests, with A-GPS and mobile Internet turned on, searching for satellites can take three minutes or more, although with normal use of mapping services such problems are not observed - the device determines its location quite quickly and accurately.

Camera

The smartphone has an 8 megapixel camera with a BSI sensor, the front camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. The camera application has an average number of settings; adjustments to basic shooting parameters are available. Focusing and shooting are fast, and HDR photos are stitched together a little faster than on other devices with similar equipment.

The image quality is satisfactory, even when compared with devices with a similar price. Low detail and a large amount of noise exclude the use of a smartphone as a photographic solution. We can only hope that in future firmware the situation will be slightly improved.

Results

Despite the identified roughness, the Huawei Ascend G700 leaves a rather pleasant impression. The only significant drawbacks include a very weak camera. Therefore, if you are looking for a productive smartphone with 2 GB of RAM, good body materials, and the camera plays a secondary role for you, the G700 will be a good choice.
