How to transfer files to android

You will need

  • Windows PC, Android smartphone or tablet, USB cable

Instructions

The first method is to transfer files from a personal computer to an Android device using a USB cable or a card reader if the information is stored on microSD flash cards. In order to transfer files using a USB cable, you need to connect the device to the computer, select the function "use as a memory card" on the tablet or phone (otherwise, the device will perceive the PC as a network for recharging the battery, and will not show itself as a connected device). Next, you need to copy the files on your computer and paste them into the required folder in the memory of your Android device. If your device uses an optional microSD card, you can remove it from the slot, insert it into the card reader, and connect to your computer. Next, you need to copy the files you need and paste on the USB flash drive. The second simple way to transfer data from a computer to an Android device in the absence of wireless Internet is to transfer files via Bluetooth. This method is inconvenient for transferring a large number of files, since each file must be selected and sent separately. In addition, the transmission speed when using Bluetooth is much lower than in all other cases. To transfer files, you must turn on the Bluetooth function on your PC and on your tablet or phone, then right-click on the file and click “Send via Bluetooth”. The third transmission method works when both devices have Wi-Fi enabled. The easiest way is to unite devices into a single network and transfer files from PC to Android device. If you cannot connect the devices to a network, you can also download the Airdroid application to your tablet and control the copying of files through your computer's browser. The fourth method works when the Internet is on on an Android device. By downloading applications that sync with cloud storage (for example, Dropbox), you can transfer files to your tablet or phone from any computer with an Internet connection, anywhere in the world. Files are uploaded to a server on the Internet, from where you can send a link for viewing and downloading. The volume of files is limited only by the rate of payment for cloud storage (there are free and paid versions). Such files are saved in the system folders "pictures", "music" and "video". From there, they can be sorted into user-friendly folders. You can also upload files to the server from a mobile device and transfer them to any computer.

note

When transmitting via Wi-fi and Bluetooth, the phone battery runs out very quickly.

How to transfer files from Android to computer and vice versa without the Internet

In Android, data is stored in the same way as on a computer. They are stored in folders in the form of files, that is, it is very similar to the system of organizing data in personal computers that we are used to.

This makes it quite easy to transfer files from Android to a computer, in other words, effortlessly transfer or copy files from a smartphone or tablet to a computer, both using the Internet and without it.

Below we will talk about how to transfer files from Android to a computer or vice versa without the Internet.

If you have a Mac, then you will need to install a special program to transfer data from Android. I am describing the situation using the example of a Windows computer.

If the device with Android is turned off, then in this state it will NOT be possible to transfer files to the computer.

First, find a charger from your Android smartphone (device).

How to connect Android to a computer

To transfer data from Android to a computer that are recorded in Android, you need to connect the Android to the computer using a wire from the smartphone's charger.

Rice. 1 Charger for Android smartphone

The end of the wire that connects to the electrical outlet must be disconnected from the connection plug. After pulling it out, you can see the USB connector. So, we have a wire in our hands, which has connectors for connection at both ends:

  • on one side a USB connector for connecting to a computer,
  • on the other hand, there is a micro-USB connector for connecting to Android.

Rice. 1.1 Connecting Android to a computer using a smartphone charger

The disconnected USB end must be plugged into a USB port on your computer. The other end with a micro-USB connector must be connected to Android (Fig. 1.1). Then a small icon will appear on the Android screen in the upper left corner, which shows that Android is connected to the computer (Fig. 2).

Rice. 2 The icon shows that Android is connected to the computer

How to charge Android from a computer

As long as the Android is connected using a wire from the charger to the computer, as described above, it will also be charged from the computer.

This will not help in any way transferring files from Android to your computer. But you just need to know and remember - if you connect Android via a wire from a charger to a computer, then Android will charge its battery from the computer to which it is connected.

This happens more slowly than when charging from a 220V network, but, nevertheless, the result (a fully charged smartphone) will be achieved. However, with this method of recharging, there is a danger of "picking up" viruses from the computer to the smartphone.

How to take a screenshot on Android 4.2.2

Let's take a screenshot of the Android main screen in order to fix (remember) this picture with an icon for connecting Android to a PC in order to then transfer this image to a computer. And thus we will show how this can be done using the wire from the Android charger.

To take a screenshot on Android 4.2 2, press the Power button and the Main button at the same time. A clicking sound will be heard, as if the camera shutter had clicked. This indicates that the screenshot has been taken.

The first connection of Android to a computer

On the computer, when a device with Android is connected to it for the first time, a warning window may appear stating that Windows is installing the necessary drivers to work with Android. The warning window is shown in Fig. 3.

Rice. 3 The driver is installed the first time Android is connected to the computer

When Android reconnects, this warning window will not be displayed.

We are looking for Android on our computer in Explorer

When the warning window about installing drivers closes, you need to open Explorer, which is located in the lower left corner, next to the Start button.

Rice. 4 File Explorer in Windows 8.1

In Explorer you can see our Android device. In this case, it is called "Galaxy Grand" (Fig. 5).

Rice. 5 Open the explorer on the computer and look for Android (Galaxy Grand) there

Click on the icon of this device "Galaxy Grand" (1 in Fig. 5). We will see in the right part of the Explorer window an image of a disk device (Fig. 6), next to which there is an inscription “Phone”, that is, “Phone”.

Rice. 6 Explorer on the computer sees Android as a USB flash drive

In fact, even though it is a phone (smartphone), Explorer sees it as an external hard drive or as a USB flash drive, that is, it sees not the phone (smartphone) itself, but the data that is recorded on it. This is exactly what allows us to transfer data from Android to a computer.

Double-clicking on the "Phone" inscription (Fig. 6) allows you to see the folders that are located in the memory of our Android (Fig. 7).

Rice. 7 Explorer on the computer shows what folders there are on Android (Galaxy Grand)

Among them we find the "Pictures" folder and double-click on it with the left mouse button.

The "Pictures" window will open (Fig. 8), in which we will see the "Screenshots" folder ("Screenshots", that is, the screenshots of Android that were taken on it).

Rice. 8 In Explorer we find the folder with screenshots located on Android

Thus, we are slowly "getting close" to the place in Android's memory where it stores all screenshots.

After double clicking on the "Screenshots" folder, we will see a screenshot of the Android screen, taken after connecting Android to the computer.

Rice. 9 In Explorer we see the name of the screenshot that was taken on the Android screen

The name of the screenshot is created by Android automatically - it is "Screenshot_2016-04-10-17-43-36" (Fig. 9). This name means that the screenshot was created in Android on April 10, 2016 at 17 hours 43 minutes 36 seconds. Thus, it is possible to identify and distinguish from each other the numerous screenshots that can be taken in Android.

Let's drag this file “Screenshot_2016-04-10-17-43-36”, for example, onto the PC desktop into the “New folder” folder (Fig. 10). To do this, you need to make 2 windows on the computer screen:

  • one window with the Android folder,
  • the second window is with a folder on the computer.

Then you need to hook the file with the left mouse button and drag it from the Android window to the window on the computer, and then release the left mouse button.

Rice. 10 Using Explorer, move the file from Android to a folder on the computer

And thus, this file from Android will be copied from Android memory to the computer desktop into a folder named "New folder" (Fig. 11):

Rice. 11 The file was moved from Android to the computer to the New folder

That's it, the problem is solved, the file from Android has been transferred to the computer. Now this file is in the PC, whereas a moment ago it was still in Android and seemed inaccessible to us on the computer.

The data of interest, which may need to be downloaded from Android to the computer, may be located not only in the Android "Pictures" folder, but also in other Android folders (Fig. 7).

What folders from Android can be seen on the computer

For example, on Android you can see the following folders:

Rice. 12 List of folders that can be on Android

  • Screenshots are stored in the "Pictures" folder on Android
  • the "DCIM" folder can store photos and videos taken with Android,
  • in the "Download" folder - all files that were downloaded to Android, for example, from the Internet,
  • in the "Movis" folder - films and clips for viewing on Android,
  • in the "Music" folder - files for listening on Android, for example, your favorite music,
  • also, the data of interest to us can be stored in other folders of Android.

It is necessary to search for files on Android and find them for subsequent transfer to the folders of a personal computer by the method of ordinary copying (or dragging and dropping) from one folder (from the Android folder) to another folder (to the computer folder).

Thus, transferring data from Android to PC turns into a common and familiar procedure for copying data from one folder to another folder.

How to delete files in Android

After transferring (copying) data from Android to PC, you can (but not necessarily!) Delete this data from Android's memory. After all, as a rule, portable gadgets do not have much free memory space. And if we transferred data from Android to PC (of course, it would be nice to check before deleting it to make sure that the data is really transferred to the PC), then this data can be deleted from the Android folders.

Deleting files and folders from Android is done in the same way as deleting folders or files on a PC: right-click on the folder or file icon and select "Delete" from the menu (Fig. 13).

Rice. 13 Deleting a file from Android

It is important to remember that if the deleted files and folders in the PC are first transferred to the Trash, from where they can be restored in case of something, then

deleted folders and files from Android are deleted from it immediately and completely, bypassing the Recycle Bin, without the possibility of their recovery.

That is, errors in accidentally deleting the necessary files from Android cannot be fixed, as it could be done on a personal computer.

You should not copy and delete the system data of Android, so as not to damage its software and not disrupt its operation.

You can copy and delete only files created by an Android user, whether it be data from the Internet, photos and videos of an Android user, screenshots and other personal data. But, again, in no case should this be done with the system files and folders of Android, so as not to damage it.

How to disconnect Android from computer

And finally, you can disconnect the Android from the PC as follows:

  • first, disconnect the connector of the wire connecting Android and PC from Android,
  • and only then disconnect the connector from the USB port of the personal computer.

You need to disconnect the wire only when the data is no longer pumped (not copied) from Android to the PC. Disconnecting the wire while transferring data may damage the file system of the PC or Android.

How to transfer files from computer to Android

The reverse transfer of data from a computer to Android is done in the same way as described above.

You only need to select the transferred files on your computer, and then you need to copy (drag and drop) them into the Android folders. That is, this transfer system works in both directions.

How to Transfer Files from Computer to Android Phone and Back

27.09.2013 mobile devices | files

In general, I do not know if this article can be useful to someone, since transferring files to the phone usually does not pose any problems. Nevertheless, I undertake to write about this, in the course of the article I will talk about the following things:

  • Transfer files over the wire via USB. Why files are not transferred via USB to my phone in Windows XP (for some models).
  • How to transfer files over Wi-Fi (two ways).
  • Transfer files to your phone via Bluetooth.
  • Synchronizing files using cloud storage.

In general, the outline of the article is outlined, I proceed. Read more interesting articles about Android and the secrets of using it here.

Transfer files to and from your phone via USB

This is perhaps the easiest way: just connect the phone and the USB port of the computer with a cable (the cable is included in the kit of almost any Android phone, sometimes it is part of the charger) and it is defined in the system as one or two removable disks or as a media device - depending on Android version and specific phone model. In some cases, you will need to press the "Enable USB storage" button on the phone screen.

Phone memory and SD card in Windows Explorer

In the example above, the connected phone is defined as two removable disks - one corresponds to the memory card, the other to the internal memory of the phone. In this case, copying, deleting, transferring files from the computer to the phone and vice versa is carried out in the same way as in the case of a regular flash drive. You can create folders, organize files as you like and perform any other actions (it is advisable not to touch the application folders that are created automatically, unless you know exactly what you are doing).

Android device is identified as a portable player

In some cases, the phone in the system may be identified as a media device or "Portable Player", which will look something like the picture above. By opening this device, you can also access the device's internal memory and SD card, if available. When the phone is identified as a portable player, a message may appear when copying some types of files that the file cannot be played or opened on the device. Do not pay attention to this. However, in Windows XP, this can lead to the fact that you simply cannot copy the files you need to your phone. Here I can advise either to change the operating system to a more modern one, or to use one of the methods that will be described below.

How to transfer files to your phone over Wi-Fi

Transferring files over Wi-Fi is possible in several ways - in the first, and perhaps the best of them, the computer and the phone must be on the same local network - i.e. connected to the same Wi-Fi router, or you should enable Wi-Fi distribution on the phone, and connect to the created access point from the computer. In general, this method will work over the Internet, but in this case, registration will be required, and the file transfer will be slower, since the traffic will go through the Internet (and with a 3G connection it will also be expensive).

Android smartphones account for 80 percent of the total mobile technology market. Manufacturers use this OS because Google provides it for free, which reduces the cost of releasing new models. Manufacturers themselves have the right to modify and make changes to the appearance of Android, as a result of which buyers have a choice between skins, add-ons and themes from different developers.
Transfer files from phone to computer and vice versa

Using the device on Android rarely causes difficulties for people. To transfer music from a computer to a phone, users connect the latter via a USB cable. However, the developers have provided three ways to transfer files. We are talking about wireless communication with a PC and the use of cloud technologies, which are so widely used today. Let's see how to transfer files from computer to phone.

How to transfer files from computer to phone via USB

To transfer music from your computer to your phone, simply connect both devices using the USB cable supplied with your mobile device. Then the process resembles working with a standard folder in Windows:

  • Open the "Computer" folder.
  • Find there the memory of the mobile device, defined as a removable disk.
  • Open the phone memory and find a folder with content of the required type (music, images).
  • Open the folder from the PC memory where the files you want to copy are located.
  • Using the context menu of the right mouse button or by using the "Ctrl + C" and "Ctrl + V" keys, copy objects to the smartphone's memory.

If you have installed removable media in the phone, then in the Computer folder Windows will display both the smartphone memory and the memory card inserted into it:

Connected media

Important: if a multimedia device is displayed in the Computer folder instead of a removable disk, this allows Windows to track the compatibility of files copied to the phone and report incompatibility. To record a movie from a computer or music to a smartphone, take care of compatibility and convert the data to a supported format.

Also, when trying to download files to your phone from your computer, do not delete system folders in the phone memory or directories created by applications. This may affect the stable operation of the mobile device, or render it unusable. If you are not sure what you are doing, it is better to transfer the photo from your phone to your computer using a memory card.

AirDroid does not require a phone driver. If you register on the application website, you will have access to control your smartphone without connecting to one network, but through a full-fledged Internet.

Transferring files to your phone via Bluetooth

If your PC is equipped with a Bluetooth module, you can also use it to record music from your computer to your phone. To do this, enable the modules on both devices and connect them. How to do this is described in the instructions for the device. Then it remains:

  1. Find the file you want to send on your laptop.
  2. Right-click on the object and select Submit.
  3. Click on the "Bluetooth" button.
Synchronizing Bluetooth devices

After completing this procedure, pay attention to the smartphone screen - there will be a proposal to accept the file from the laptop. If the PC and smartphone were previously connected via Bluetooth, the file will be received automatically.

Cloud storage, for transferring files to the phone

Speaking about how to transfer photos from your phone to your computer, you should definitely touch on the topic of cloud technologies. This is the transfer of information from one device, first to the server, and then to another connected device.

In this way, the settings are synchronized on devices with the same OS (Windows 10 Mobile smartphones and devices with a "ten"), and files are transferred between platforms where the user is logged in under the same account.

The standard Android cloud service is called Google Drive. Download and install the client application of the service on your phone and computer, log in with the same account and work as with regular Windows folders.

On Android, you can from Google Play, and for Windows, you should download the installer from the official website of the selected service. Alternatively, consider:

  • OneDrive from Microsoft, which comes preinstalled with Windows 10.
  • Cloud Mail.ru.
  • Yandex.Disk.
  • DropBox.

Now you know how to transfer files from computer to phone.

We live in the era of wireless technology and connecting Android phones and tablets to PCs via USB is already becoming obsolete. More and more people are abandoning various wires in favor of Wi-Fi, thanks to which you can easily transfer files from computer to Android and vice versa.

We have already written how you can connect your gadget to a PC in the article:, as well as in the instructions:. This method will be a little more complicated, but more versatile.

You don't need to install anything on your computer - everything is implemented using standard Windows capabilities, and for Android you will have to install one single application - an FTP server. I recommend the free and simple My FTP Server. In this manual, we will use this particular program.

How to create an FTP server on Android

1. Open My FTP Server on your device and go to the settings by clicking on the corresponding icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

2. Come up with a username and password. The rest of the data can be left unchanged.

3. Save the settings by clicking on the floppy disk image in the upper right corner.

4. In the main window of the program, click "Start Server".

The “Server Status” item will turn green with the word “ON”.

Connecting PC to Android via Wi-Fi

1. Open "File Explorer" on your PC and go to the "Computer" section.

2. Click on an empty space with the right mouse button and select "Add a new item to Network Neighborhood".

4. In the new window, enter the network address that is listed in My FTP Server.

6. Then enter a name for the network connection. You can leave the server IP.

7. At the end, a notification appears that the Add Network Location Wizard has been successfully completed. Click Next.

8. Now a new item will appear in the "Computer" section - your network location.

9. When opening for the first time, enter the server password that you set in My FTP Server.

As you can see, everything is pretty simple. You can easily view files on your device, delete them, download them to your computer, etc.

More advanced users can use an FTP client instead of creating a network environment. The best and also free, in my opinion, is Filezilla.

In general, I do not know if this article can be useful to someone, since transferring files to the phone usually does not pose any problems. Nevertheless, I undertake to write about this, in the course of the article I will talk about the following things:

Transfer files over the wire via USB. Why files are not transferred via USB to the phone in Windows XP (for some models). How to transfer files via Wi-Fi (two methods). Transfer files to the phone via Bluetooth. Synchronizing files using cloud storage.

In general, the outline of the article is outlined, I proceed. Read more interesting articles about Android and the secrets of using it.

However, in Windows XP, this can lead to the fact that you simply cannot copy the files you need to your phone. Here I can advise or change the operating room the system to a more modern one, or use one of the methods that will be described below.

How to transfer files to your phone over Wi-Fi

Responsive2 (width: 300px; height: 300px) @media (min-width: 500px) (. Responsive2 (width: 336px; height: 280px))

Transferring files over Wi-Fi is possible in several ways - in the first, and perhaps the best of them, and the phone must be in the same local the network- that is, they are connected to the same Wi-Fi router, or you should enable Wi-Fi distribution on the phone, and connect to the created access point from the computer. Accessing Android files via browser in Airdroid

Directly to access files on your phone, you need to install the AirDroid application on it, which can be downloaded for free from Google Play. After installation, you can not only transfer files, but also perform many other actions with your phone - write messages, view photos, etc. I wrote in detail about how this works in the article Remote control of Android from a computer.

In addition, you can use more sophisticated methods to transfer files over Wi-Fi. The methods are not entirely for beginners, and therefore I will not explain them too much, I will just hint how else this can be done: those who need it will easily understand what it is about. These are the ways:

Install FTP Server on Android to access files via FTP Create shared folders on a computer, access them using SMB (supported, for example, in ES File Explorer for Android
The best free software for data recovery The best free video editors The best free antiviruses Malware removal tools (which your antivirus does not see) Free video converters in Russian Manage Android from a computer

Bluetooth file transfer

To transfer files via Bluetooth from computer on the phone, just turn on Bluetooth on both, also on the phone, if it has not been previously paired with this computer or laptop, go to the Bluetooth settings and make the device visible. Next, in order to transfer the file, right-click on it and select "Send" - "Bluetooth device". In general, that's all.

Transferring files to your phone via BlueTooth

Some laptops may have preinstalled programs for more convenient BT file transfer and more advanced features using Wireless FTP. Such programs can also be installed separately.

Using cloud storage

If you are not yet using any of the cloud services, such as SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or Yandex Drive, then it's high time - believe me, it's very convenient. Including in those cases when you need to transfer files to your phone.

In general, which is suitable for any cloud service, you can download the corresponding free application to your Android phone, run it with your credentials and get full access to the synchronized folder - you can view its contents, change it or download data to your telephone. Depending on which specific service you use, there are additional options. For example, in SkyDrive, you can access all folders and files on your computer from your phone, and in Google Drive, you can edit documents and spreadsheets stored in the storage directly from your phone.

Access computer files in SkyDrive

I think these methods will be enough for most purposes, but if I forgot to mention an interesting option, be sure to write about it in the comments.

A lot of files have accumulated on your phone: it can be photos, videos, various documents. The phone memory is not rubber. And just like that, just in case, it would be nice to have a copy of all these files on your computer. How to transfer this data?

You will need

  • Driver for phone
  • Usb cable
  • Usb bluetooth adapter
  • Infrared usb port
  • Card reader
  • Access to the Internet

Instructions

  • The easiest and fastest way to transfer data from a phone to a computer is via a usb cable. To do this, connect your phone via a usb cable to your computer. If the system announces to you that the device is not recognized, install a special driver for your phone. A driver disc is usually included with the phone at the time of purchase. After that, go to the "My Computer" folder and find your phone there. Now you can easily go to your phone's memory card and transfer everything you need from there.
  • If your phone has bluetooth, and your computer has a built-in bluetooth adapter, or you have a usb bluetooth adapter, you can also connect your phone to your computer. To do this, turn on bluetooth on your cell phone and on your computer. Search your computer for bluetooth devices. As soon as the system finds your phone, point it with the mouse and establish a connection. The system may ask you to enter a password. It's okay - enter the same characters on your computer and phone. After that, the connection will be established and you can exchange data.
  • If you have an infrared port in your phone and computer, you can transfer data through them. The actions will be almost the same as when connecting via bluetooth. The only difference will be the quality of the connection and the distance that you can move the phone away from the infrared port of the computer. The transmission speed with this connection is quite low.
  • If your phone is equipped with a removable memory card, you can use a card reader to transfer files. To do this, transfer all the necessary information from the internal memory of the phone to the external one. Then turn off your phone to avoid various system errors and remove the removable memory card. Insert it into the card reader. You may need to use an adapter when doing this. Connect the card reader to your computer. Wait while the system recognizes the connected device. After that, go to the "My Computer" folder and find your removable disk there. Now you can transfer files from your phone to your computer.
  • What if you don't have any devices for communicating with your computer? In this case, use the Internet. From your phone, go to your personal mail and, having attached all the necessary files, send yourself a letter. Then go to your mail through a computer and, after waiting for the letter you sent, download it. Of course, you will have to spend money on traffic, but your data will be transferred.
