The All-Russian Contest of Young Readers "Living Classics" is a competitive event for reading aloud excerpts from the prose works of Russian and foreign writers, the history of which begins in 2011. As part of the competition, participants are invited to read aloud in Russian a fragment from their chosen prose work. Children of 5-11 grades of general and additional education institutions no older than 17 years old (inclusive) at the time of the qualifying rounds of the All-Russian final of the competition can participate in the competition "Living Classics" 2019.

A prerequisite for participation in the competition is the registration of participants and those responsible for the school stages on the official website of the competition.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the opinion that the "Living Classics" project is making a great contribution to the popularization of reading among children and adolescents.

The Competition Regulations state that participation in the Reading Competition is free of charge. Collection of organizational and other fees from participants is not allowed.

The competition is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

Competition events

Events that can be held within the framework of the competition:

holding thematic events in urban formations for schoolchildren, parents and teachers:
meetings with writers,
lectures on literature for children and adolescents,
reviews of works recommended for reading by schoolchildren;
expressive reading of excerpts from fiction texts directly at the very stage of the competition.

The main prize for the winners of the competition is a trip to the children's camp "Artek".

How to participate in the competition?

In order to participate in the event, you need to fulfill a number of requirements:

Register on the official website.
Learn a favorite passage from the text of a work of art.
Filming your reading.
Upload your video to your personal account or wait for the cool stage.

How is the competition going?

Contestants recite episodes from their favorite works of art.
These should be excerpts from prose works by Russian or foreign authors of the 18th-21st centuries.
Participants in the event must read the text by heart.
The help of other persons during the performance is not allowed.
The performance time is 2-5 minutes.
The participant can use musical accompaniment, elements of decoration or costume during the performance. But all this does not give an advantage over other participants and does not add points.

Performance Evaluation Criteria

Selecting the text of the work:

7 points - if the piece is included in the list of frequently performed pieces;
10 points - the piece is rarely performed and is not included in the list.

Ability to have an aesthetic, intellectual and emotional impact on listeners:

from 0 to 5 points - the reader told the story in such a way that the jury member understood it - is evaluated on a scale.
from 0 to 5 points - the reader managed to emotionally involve the listener: to make him think, laugh, empathize.

Grammatically correct speech.
0 to 5 points - no mistakes in stressing and pronunciation of words.
Diction, placement of logical stresses, pauses.
0 to 5 points - expressiveness of diction, clear pronunciation of sounds in accordance with the phonetic norms of the language.

The maximum number of points for all assessment criteria is 30 points.

The results of the competition can be sent to the educational institution of the participant and posted in the personal account on the official website of the competition.

5. School: Click the name of your institution in the list (all schools in your region will be displayed).

6. Tell us your age, favorite genre and author, whose work you enjoy the most.

7. In the "Brief Description ..." field, succinctly and meaningfully describe your creative activity, personal achievements in the field of art.

9. To upload a video with your performance to your profile, in the "My video" section, click "Add new ...".

The deadline for applications is February 1 - March 15, 2020.
Three winners of the competition have the opportunity to take part in the V International Pedagogical Forum "Living Classics" (St. Petersburg, September 2020). The Living Classic Foundation pays for travel and accommodation.
Also, ten participants in the competition have the opportunity to undergo distance learning under the advanced training program within their profession, to receive a certificate of advanced training.

Calendar of the Contest subject to changes in terms -.

We inform you that in 30 regions of the Russian Federation, which will be determined during the voting of users on the site www.youngreaders.ru, contestants from among the eleventh graders who received recommendations from the jury will be able to compete for the right to enter the Shchukin Theater Institute on preferential terms.

Voting will soon be launched on the website of the "Live Classics" www.youngreaders.ru.
The voting results will be announced on January 15, 2020.

Participants who successfully passed the audition will be eligible to enter the second round of admission (bypassing the first) at the Shchukin Theater Institute.

To pass to the second round of admission, you must pass the USE in the following subjects: Russian - at least 56 points, literature - at least 45 points.
For listening, the contestant is recommended to prepare a reading of prose, poems, fables.

If the region wins the vote, the date of the teacher's visit will be discussed and agreed with you. It could be the day of the regional stage, (it will probably be a parallel room audition), or it could be a separate day.

Within 3 days from the moment of sending the letter, the technician will add your school to the list, and you will be able to indicate your educational institution in your profile (Section "Edit Profile").

"Living Classics" is an international competition for young readers, established by the non-profit foundation of the same name in 2011 as a project aimed at increasing the popularity of literature among young readers. Over the years, among the members of the jury were famous artists, TV presenters, actors and writers, and the winners were awarded educational trips to other countries, certificates for children's international camps, valuable gifts, and teaching theatrical skills. Registration and login to your personal account

To register a personal account, you must select the appropriate menu item on the left side of the main page of the site. Next, you should indicate which participant is registered: an adult, a curator or a student. Registration forms for them will be different.

For the actual future participants of the competition, you will need to fill out a form containing only the data of the full name, e-mail address and the desired password. After that, the entrance to the Live Classics personal account becomes available. However, to fill out an application for participation in the competition, you must fill out separately and send a special form by clicking the button in your personal account "Take part in ...".

You can recover your account password directly on the website by using the appropriate button on the Live Classic account login page. Further, in the field that appears, enter the email address specified during the registration of the account. Detailed instructions for restoring credentials will be sent to it. Proceeding as instructed, you should reset the old password and create a new login password.
