Above the resort there are three main ski areas: Alpe Cermis (Alpe Cermis), Latemar (Latemar) and Bellamonte (Bellamonte), there are also more compact Passo Rolle and Passo Lavaze-Oclini (Passo Lavaze-Oclini) nearby. The most interesting and varied ski area is Latemar, which can be easily reached from Predazzo. All the ski areas of Val di Fiemme are linked by a ski bus. Bellamonte is connected by a system of trails to the vast area of Tre Valle (Italian's Three Valleys).

There are not so many difficult slopes, this region cannot be called the best choice for expert skiing. An interesting and rather long (5 km) black track is laid on the slope of Alpe Cermis. For skiers with an average level, the slopes of the Latemar area will be convenient, you can get to this area by climbing from the village of Pampeago (1757 m). In this sector there is an extensive network of lifts (cab and chair lifts) and various slopes, mostly blue and easy red. The Caserina area has scenic and not too steep pistes for intermediate skiers. The slopes of Bellemonte and the track on the northwest side of Alpe Cermis are good for beginners. You can’t ski down to the villages of Cavalese and Predazzo, you have to go back by lift or bus. Latemar has an extensive snow park with ski jumps, rails and a boardercross track, with a half-pipe (80 m) usually built nearby. The most convenient resort for skiing in Latemar is Obereggen. There is an excellent choice of accommodation and a more developed infrastructure in the town of Moena, but ski in / out is not possible there, you need to get to the nearest ski lifts by car / bus (from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the chosen ski sector.

Val di Fiemme: more than just skiing

Most of the good hotels in the resort have their own spas. In addition, in the villages of the valley there are two indoor pools, three ice stadiums, two tennis courts, a sports center, billiards, a beauty center and fitness centers. The valley has good opportunities for cross-country skiers (there are more than 150 km of trails, the valley hosted the world championships in cross-country skiing three times), there are also trails for snowshoeing. From Val di Fiemme you can go on excursions to neighboring cities - Verona, Venice, Trentino, and Innsbruck is not very far away.

Val di Fiemme: with children

Val di Fiemme has separate ski areas with special lifts for children. Children's parks operate in different areas of the valley, where children are taught the basics of skiing or just play, walk and provide lunch. There are ski schools for children in all major villages of the valley.

Group lessons for adults in the resorts of this valley cost from 130 euros (5 days for 3 hours), individual lessons - about 40 euros for 1 hour.

- Be prepared for the fact that most of the ski instructors do not speak Russian (Italian, German and, less often, English - the local standard).
- When planning a trip to Sella Ronda or to other remote valleys, carefully study the opening hours of the lifts. Getting stuck in a neighboring or not quite neighboring valley is an expensive pleasure: skiing between resorts is much faster than by road, and a taxi ride can be quite expensive.
- Avoid riding the Sella Ronda during peak periods, otherwise you can spend a lot of time queuing.
- Ski-express ticket (a bus between the towns of the valley, plying the resorts) - paid (7 euros for a week or one-time - 3 euros), children under 6 years old - free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at hotels and apartments, tourism office, ticket offices. The bus ticket is ONLY valid with a ski pass. During the high season, buses run every 15 minutes, at the beginning / end of the season - less often.
- Parking at the lower stations of the ski lifts, as a rule, paid (from 5 euros / day).
- In some villages you can not go down on skis.
- For beginners, there is no need to purchase rather expensive ski passes for the entire Dolomiti Superski or Skirama region, it is enough to purchase a local Val di Fiemme ski pass.

The resort of Val di Fiemme is a kind of gateway to the Dolomites. Lively resort towns are scattered throughout the wide, sun-drenched valley. The largest of them are Cavalese, Predazzo, Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte. The height of the Val di Fiemme ski resort is 1200-3000 m, there are 50 lifts, the total length of the ski slopes is 140 km. • Luzia (Bellamonte)
  • Jochgrimm/Lavace

Ski area Ski Center Latemar

The Latemar ski center is located between the provinces of Bozen and Trient and is the largest and most significant in the region. The ski areas spread out in their splendor against the backdrop of the mountain peaks of Latemargruppe, Rosengarten, Palagruppa and the large Lagorai mountain range. The unique freak of nature, full of emotions - the reflection of the red flame of the sunset on the rocks, has an extraordinary, bewitching power of attraction.

In the ski area of the Ski Center Latemar there are:

  • 50 km of ski slopes (10 blue, 20 red and 7 black slopes);
  • Lifts - 2 cab, 14 chairlifts, 2 ski lifts;

Ski Center Latemar attracts tourists with its beauty and extensive ski area, offering the largest number and variety of pistes in the Val di Fiemme. Many slopes with steep and gentle slopes form a diverse skiing area with trails of any difficulty level, interesting for all skiers and snowboarders. The central part of the ski area attracts extreme sports enthusiasts with its steep (60%) black track from the top of Santa Zanggen (Santa Zanggen) (2500 m) and jumps in the snow park.

Everyone, without exception, will be pleased with its spectacular time trial (2600 m, drop 420 m), the elite slalom track Agnello (Agnello), popular for competitions. A real attraction for children and adults is the Alpine-Coaster rollercoaster (at the Gardone ski station near Predazzo). The 750 meters long monorail is a unique structure for the Dolomites and a fun attraction.

Ski Center Latemar has 9 cafes, bars, bistros and restaurants where you can have a delicious lunch and relax in the best Alpine traditions: admire the sunny peaks from a sun lounger with a glass of cool beer or hot mulled wine.

Alpe-Cermis ski area

The skiing region of the Flaimstal-Obereggen valley with the Alpe-Cermis ski area is especially family-friendly. The local cuisine is rich in traditional delicacies. There are about 50 modern lifts that meet the strictest safety requirements. A paradise for cross-country skiers is the Flaimstal valley with its pronounced natural landscapes. In 2003, the Nordic skiing world championship was held here.

In the ski area of Alpe-Cermis (Alpe-Cermis) are:

  • 23 km of ski slopes (7 blue, 5 red and 2 black slopes);
  • Lifts - 3 cab, 3 chairlifts, 1 ski lift.

The number of Alpe-Cermis slopes is inferior to the Ski Center Latemar skiing region, but the elite red-and-black track "Olympia" on Mount Cermis is noteworthy, causing delight (length 7.5 km, drop 1350 m). The rapid descent passes through the forest, opening from steep drops a picturesque panorama of the entire Val di Fiemme valley. This track will not leave indifferent an experienced skier with its technicality and beauty. The route starts from the top of Paion (Payon), from where a stunning view of all the Dolomites opens up in full view. Here you also have the opportunity to take an amazing walk through the forest park - the museum of local lore under the crowns of pines. Easy serpentine descent is interesting for a ski trip with children, or for a pleasant promenade in the afternoon.

In the central part of the slope, a cheerful park for the smallest skiers - Cermislandia (Chermislandia) pleases the eye. It is lovingly equipped with everything necessary so that kindergarten groups, under the caring attention of nannies-instructors, do not get bored without their parents.

You can dine and relax without changing the best Alpine traditions in at least five bistros, restaurants, and bars located in the most picturesque places on the slope.

You can go down to Moena only along the black track of the northern slope of the mountain range. And the southern slope, caressed by the sun, forms the main ski area above the resort of Bellamonte Val di Fiemme.

From the top of 2327 meters you can go down directly to the valley, having covered many kilometers. The descent can be swift if you pass the upper half of the slope along the black or red pistes, or it can be imposing and remarkably long if you choose the blue pistes for the descent, which prevail in Alpe Lusia. This skiing area is perfect for family skiing with children, for beginner skiers and will be of interest to snowboarders because of the presence of two Snow parks with jumps and a half-pipe. Experienced skiers who are interested in the steep and challenging northern slope can take the ski bus from Predazzo to Moena in 10 minutes.

General assessment of the Val di Fiemme ski resort

With all the above pluses, it should be noted the relatively low prices for holidays in the hotels of the resort of Val di Fiemme. At the same time, hotels offer all modern services, and their level is not inferior to hotels in other valleys.

Val di Fiemme is part of the Dolomiti Superski single ski pass for skiing in 12 different areas of the Dolomites with a total of 1220 km of slopes. But Val di Fiemme does not have a common ski area with the valleys of the Dolomites. In order to make the famous "Ski around the world" - Sella Ronda through the valleys of the Dolomites, you need to make a short trip to the Val di Fassa on a free ski bus with a change (30 minutes from the Predazzo ski station to Moena, 15-20 minutes transfer , and 15-20 minutes from Moena to Canazei). By taxi it will cost about 35 euros. For skiers planning skiing only in Val di Fiemme, the Ski-pass Val di Fiemme / Obereggen for three well-known ski areas is relevant, which will be much cheaper.

Advantages of the Val di Fiemme ski resort:

  • Val di Fiemme - one of the greenest and most beautiful Alpine valleys
  • Lower prices for hotels and resort services (equipment rental, skiing lessons) relative to other "promoted" valleys
  • A great place for beginner skiers, families with children and companies with different skill levels due to the large variety of red and blue runs in the ski areas
  • The presence of kindergartens makes the stay of families with small children comfortable
  • Democratic resort where many young people rest
  • No overcrowding during the peak season - the slopes are free for skiing, there are no long queues on the lifts
  • Young ski resort with new lifts and modern infrastructure
  • Ideal for tourists on their own vehicles - all ski stations are based along the highway, at a short distance between the resort villages and have large parking areas. The highway is calm, without dangerous serpentine turns
  • Closest location to Verona airport

Val di Fiemme is a relatively inexpensive ski resort in the Dolomites, located at an altitude of about 1000 m above sea level. Around the ski slopes there are about 11 small resort towns, each of which can accommodate. The most interesting of them are Predazzo and Cavalese.

Cavalese is worth special attention: it is a medieval city, where in between skiing you can visit the old Franciscan monastery, go ice skating and paragliding. A single ski pass operates throughout the resort, and free buses run between the slopes.

A bit of history

It must be said that the history of Val di Fiemme began in the 12th century, when the inhabitants of this beautiful valley, lying at the foot of the Dolomites, fought for independence for many years and, having won, were able to declare their lands the “Beautiful State of Val di Fiemme”, which lasted for many years. For the territory of Val di Fiemme (because it really was beautiful) Austria and Italy fought for many years.

After the First World War, Val di Fiemme began to develop as a ski resort, twice (in 1991 and 2003) the World Championships in cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping were held here, and the World Cup in cross-country skiing is regularly held. Today, Val di Fiemme is an attractive resort with modern infrastructure and excellent opportunities for sports and recreation.

Val di Fiemme Hotels

In Cavalese tourists are ready to accept nine hotels, 3 * and 4 *. The hotels are cozy, modern and quiet. It offers tourists - an indoor pool, a lot of restaurants and shops.

Half an hour drive to the east is the town of Predazzo. There are a little more hotels here - as many as ten, one of them is 4 *. Just like in Cavalese, there is a swimming pool, restaurants, bars, shops.

In terms of skiing, its main advantage is that it is close to the Latemar lift.

The remaining villages of the valley are even smaller and are located more or less well in relation to the ski lifts. For some reason, the town of Oberregen also belongs to this skiing region - despite the fact that it is located behind the pass.

Map

Ski areas

Three ski areas can be distinguished here: Alpe Cermis (Alpe Cermis), Bellamonte (Bellamonte), connected by a system of tracks with the "Three Valleys", and the most interesting and diverse ski area Latemar (Latemar). The latter can be reached by a new cabin lift from the town of Predazzo.

All ski areas of Val di Fiemme are connected by ski-bus routes.

Cavalese

The ski area, which is part of the Alpe Cermis zone and located at an altitude of 2267 m. The elevation difference is 1407 m. The local slopes are ideally exposed to maintain excellent snow quality even on the darkest (from the point of view of an active skier) days.

The total mileage of the "rollable" slopes of the resort is small - only 24 km, but this is more than compensated by the wonderful snow cover throughout the season. Cavalese has 7 blue runs (10 km), 5 red runs (9 km) and 2 black runs (5 km), served by three gondolas and three chair lifts, as well as one ski lift. The most famous black track is Olimpia II, 3 km long with a vertical drop of more than 600 meters.

Tesero

A quiet alpine town located in the heart of the Val di Fiemme at a kilometer altitude. From here it is easy to get to any vending ski area of the valley, since the routes of all the local ski buses successfully pass through Tesero.

The total length of the slopes of the resort is 40 km, most of them are red. The most interesting skiing area is the Ski Center Latemar, where there are many picturesque forest trails. Tesero is ideal for cross-country skiers: it has a world-class center that has hosted the World Championships twice (and is preparing to do so for the third time - in 2013). To the delight of snowboarders, the resort has a snow park and a half-pipe.

There is a skating rink on Lake Tesero.

Carano

"Lower neighbor" Cavalese, located at an altitude of 906 m above sea level. There are about the same number of local residents, but the number of beds offered for snow and adventure seekers overlaps this figure at times: Carano is notable for a large number of apartments and small hotels. The town itself is very quiet (good for tourists with children), and vacationers here can enjoy all the achievements of the infrastructure of nearby Cavalese.

The slopes of Cavalese are ideally exposed to maintain excellent snow quality even on the darkest (in terms of an active skier) days.

Bellamonte

Ski resort in the Travignolo Valley (Valle di Travignolo) at an altitude of 1373 m. The height of the station at the top is almost 2 km, at the foot of the mountain - 1550 m. The height difference is 427 m.

Bellamonte has 16 equipped trails with a total length of 24 km. Most of the local slopes are of medium and advanced difficulty: 11 km of blue and 9 - red. The pros will have to settle for three black runs (4 km in total).

The local red and blue trails, laid through the forest, are very picturesque. In addition, they are very comfortable and long.

Oberragen

In Val di Fiemme, in addition to the Dolomiti Superski pass, the Fiemme-Oberragen card is also valid. In general, this calm valley with uncomplicated trails is very suitable for cross-country skiers and beginner skiers, who come here in large numbers: from 8 am to 6 pm ski buses scurry between the villages of the valley, lifts and cable cars work, providing everyone with the opportunity to have a good relax and take away a good mood from Val di Fiemme.

Trails of Val di Fiemme

In terms of skiing, the valley is the western region of the Dolomiti Superski alliance, providing athletes with about a hundred kilometers of slopes, modern lifts, and excellent infrastructure. There are few difficult tracks for the "pros" in the resort. You can select the track on the slope of Alpe Cermis between the top of the Eurohotel (Eurotel, 2000 m) and Doss dei Laresi (Doss dei Laresi, 1279 m).

The cabin lift near Predazzo will take skiers to the Latemar ski area. This region is more suitable for intermediate skiers, they will be especially interested in the eastern part of the slope in the Caserina area (Rifugio Caserina).

To the third ski area, Bellamonte - Alpa di Lusia (24 km of slopes), you have to take a bus, but the slopes there are excellent: comfortable, long “blue” and “red” slopes winding in the forest. From here also begins a narrow and steep "black" track, descending into the neighboring valley of Val di Fassa.

Good conditions here for beginner snowboarders: in the Alpe Lucia region there are all conditions for them. In addition, there are snow parks in the Ski-center Latemar ski area and in the town of Obereggen.

Attractions and attractions in Val di Fiemme

Traditionally, not those who are ready to conquer new peaks and trails to exhaustion go to this valley, but those who just want to go skiing, sit in bars and restaurants, and admire the mountain scenery. For these purposes, the valley is the best suited: two national parks are located here at once, in which you can see trees of rare species, including red spruce, from the tree of which the famous violin maker Stradivarius made his violins.

Walking along the streets of Cavalese, you can feel the spirit of the Middle Ages, and its sights cannot be ignored.

In the nearby ancient medieval town of Cavalese, you can see the Franciscan monastery, the church of St. Vilo and other attractions. Val di Fiemme is one of the most famous and visited ski resorts. It is located in the region of Trentino - Alto Adige, forming a kind of gateway to the picturesque and snowy world. Dolomites. Every year, international competitions in ski disciplines are held on the local slopes, including stages of world cups, which bring together the strongest skiers on the planet. The resort area consists of 11 small towns, in which about 18 thousand local residents live. Convenient transport links have been established between all ski areas, and high-speed, high-tech lifts equipped with slopes allow tourists not only to move freely throughout the ski region, but also to admire the Alpine landscapes that form the appearance of Val di Fiemme.

The snowy slopes of the resort are mainly intended for beginners and intermediate skiers, while the infrastructure here is clearly tailored for family holidays. Usually people come here just to have fun, admire the wonderful landscapes of the Dolomites, and go skiing at the same time. It is not customary to torment yourself with endless descents and ascents, and sitting in a restaurant with a cup of hot coffee, enjoying nature, while not taking off your ski suit, is considered one of the most common ways to spend your leisure time here.

The overall dimensions of the Val di Fiemme are small. Only 25 to 6 kilometers. However, this gives the resort a number of advantages. It is compact, all pistes have an abundance of high-quality snow cover, and by cable car you can get to any ski area in the shortest possible time. The administrative center of Val di Fiemme is the town of Cavalese, located in the western part of the valley. It is a small settlement with narrow streets and low houses of the medieval type. The city is divided into two parts by the Rio Gambis River, which makes it even more romantic. It is located right at the foot of the Dolomites and has three and four star hotels. There is also a sports complex, several shops and restaurants with a very presentable appearance. In general, this is a nice little place to relax, in peace and quiet, among beautiful nature, with excellent views from the windows of hotel rooms. Just a couple of tens of kilometers from Cavalese is the same quiet and cozy Predazzo, with only one four-star hotel, but a slightly closer and more comfortable location relative to the ski lifts. The rest of the cities of Val di Fiemme are scattered along the entire perimeter of the valley and are quite tiny in size.

The most popular ski areas in the resort are Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte and Latemar. Between all tourist villages, from eight in the morning to six in the evening, a free bus runs daily, transporting those who wish to their destinations.

Alpe Cermis located at an altitude of about 2200 meters above sea level and is characterized by high quality snow cover, as well as significant elevation changes. For the "pros" there are two tracks at once, and for beginners and intermediate skiers, routes with a length of about 20 kilometers have been prepared. Not far from here lies the small cozy village of Tesero, with a picturesque lake that turns into an excellent skating rink during the ski season. For skiers here, the Latemar area is an ideal skiing area, where, in addition to excellent beginner and intermediate slopes, there is a snow park for snowboarders and a couple of tens of kilometers of trails for cross-country skiers. The Bellamonte ski area is located in the Travignolo Valley, at an altitude of just over 1300 meters above sea level. Among the 16 excellently equipped slopes, three belong to the upper class, and the rest are distributed between intermediate and beginner skiers. Most of the routes run through forests, which makes skiing in these places even more interesting and eventful.

At a fairly significant distance from Bellamonte, behind the Passo Lavaze pass, in the Ega valley, at an altitude of 1550 meters, lies another popular ski area belonging to the Val di Fiemme region, obereggen. It is popular with beginners and intermediate skiers. In addition, there are trails for cross-country skiers. For snowboarders, a snow park is equipped at the Ski-center Latemar. The town has several good hotels with a high level of comfort and affordability. The close location to the ski lifts is their advantage. Otherwise, it is not much different from other resort areas in the region.

In addition to the abundance of all kinds of winter sports, there are many other temptations in Val di Fiemme. Almost all resorts have at their disposal modern sports centers where you can swim in the pool, visit the gym, play basketball, tennis or football. Numerous restaurants always offer a variety of national dishes and desserts to gourmet visitors. In addition, the provincial towns of the region are of particular interest to lovers of history and sights. In Predazzo there is a museum of geology and ethnography, in Cavalese there is a famous Franciscan monastery And Church of Saint Willo. Also in Val di Fiemme there are two national parks, with rare tree species growing in them, among which red spruce grows. It was from it that the great Stradivarius made his violins, and then played brilliant music on them.

Val di Fiemme has been one of the leaders in the Italian ski industry for many years, enjoying high prestige in Europe and every year, gathering thousands of winter sports enthusiasts at its resorts. Especially a lot of people form here during international competitions, when hotels are packed to the limit, and the tracks become noisy and crowded. On such days, hotel rooms should be booked in advance, as there is a high risk of being left without a hotel. In general, Val di Fiemme is an excellent holiday destination, both for the whole family and in the circle of a cheerful company, and the picturesque landscapes and the high quality of the slopes ideally contribute to a pleasant pastime on the slopes of the Dolomites.

What to see in Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme is, above all, ski resort, although it functions all year round (in the summer you can go in for rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, excursions, fishing). In order to be able to ski in the Val di Fiemme, you need to purchase a ski pass, which bears the name of the ski region - Val di Fiemme / Obereggen. Ski pass prices vary depending on the season. So, for example, during the opening period from November 25 to December 23, the cost of ski passes starts from 47 euros for 1 adult (the price is indicated for 1 day). In the "high" season from December 24 to January 6 and from February 4 to March 17, prices increase slightly - a one-day ski pass for one adult will cost from 51 euros. After the end of the "high" season, prices for ski passes return to their previous level.

In addition to skiing itself, in Val di Fiemme you can find other entertainment. So, for example, in Cavalese is open ice stadium(indoor skating rink), in Tesero, on the contrary, there is outdoor skating rink(on the lake of the same name Tesero, where fishing is good in summer). Also, almost every major settlement in the valley has its own indoor pools. For example, in Cavalese, the possibilities of the pool are not limited only to swimming lanes, there are a heated Jacuzzi, a water slide, a children's pool, and an aqua fitness pool. The sports complex in Predazzo also has a sports pool for adults, a children's pool, an aerobics pool, a gym.

Another non-standard option for entertainment in Val di Fiemme is winter roller coaster or, as they are called here, alpine coasters ("Alpine Coaster" in English). In fact, this is a railway with a diameter of almost 1 km, along which you can ride a special open toboggan. Such a toboggan can accelerate to a speed of 40 km / h. The toboggan is double, so you can ride both in a bunch of adults-adults, and in a bunch of adults-child. The most convenient way to get to the attraction is on the Predazzo-Gardonè gondola.

In general, we can say that Val di Fiemme is the most democratic resort in the Dolomites region and is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers. The infrastructure of the resort is at a high level of development, you will be pleasantly surprised by brand new lifts, panoramic slopes, sports events that are held here every year. In terms of additional options - restaurants, cafes, shops and entertainment - everything is also "perfect" here, travelers can only rejoice at the wide variety of offers.

During the summer, the resort is also not idle. From snow-covered towns, Val di Fiemme turns into a green flowering valley, from where you can always climb the mountains, whether it's hiking, rock climbing or just riding a gondola. There are quite a lot of panoramic routes here, from where the best views of the valley, forests and lakes of the Dolomites open up.
