La Plagne: about the resort

La Plagne - the combined name of 6 high-altitude villages with a height difference from 1800 to 2100 m: Aime-La-Plagne (2100 m), Plagne Center (1970 m), Plagne-Belcote (1930 m), Belle Plagne (2050 m2), Plagne 1800 and Planne Village/Soleil (2050 m). Alpine skiing in La Plagne

The vast majority of pistes in La Plagne are blue (65%) and red. There are also easy green runs - 10%, and black runs for professionals - 17%. You can go around the villages without taking off your skis, as they are all connected by tracks and free buses. In addition, there are 90 km of cross-country skiing trails. According to the relief of the pistes, La Plagne is best suited for families with children and those who most of all love blue and green (there are also such, the simplest ones in the French classification) pistes. Actually, there are most of them in the resort. In general, the Paradiski ski area, which combines the La Planie and Les Arcs pistes, is 425 km of pistes. Paradiski is one of the largest ski areas in France and has pistes for every taste. Those who prefer more difficult skiing and freeride, set off on a variety of routes from the Belcote Glacier. From it you can go down towards Les Arcs and the massive two-story cabin of the Vanoise Express, visible from afar. In particular, the northern slopes of Belcote, the local glacier, are of particular interest. Local guides, having missed a glass or two of genepie (a favorite Savoyard tincture from a variety of wormwood, which helps against all ailments, frost, bad mood and other adversities), tell in secret about the incredible beauty of the wild slopes above Champagne-en-Vanoise. Some of these routes pass near the national park (skating in which is prohibited).

Having set off towards Champagne, try to accurately calculate the time for the return trip - some cable cars in this part of the region cannot be called otherwise than “authentic”, and the journey on them takes a lot of time. But it is in this part of La Planie that perhaps the most interesting slopes with a good elevation difference are located, and, as a rule, they also turn out to be the least loaded. Actually, this is immediately noticeable - part of the slope is regularly occupied by the local Ski Club, and it is a pleasure to watch the competitions of children and teenagers from the chair. Another ski stadium, where most often there is a slalom or giant slalom track, is located in the very center of La Plagne, under the armchair. On Saturdays, quite professional competitions are held there - the local ski school is considered one of the strongest in France. Ski Club La Plany has also raised a real star: two-time world vice-champion Julien Liesérou smiles from advertising posters everywhere, and when the World Cup and training schedule allows, he returns to La Plagne with pleasure.

Things to do in La Plagne

La Plagne inspires with its variety of recreational opportunities: dog sledding, sledding and snowmobiling, paragliding and helicopter rides, ice climbing and rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking trails. La Plagne is also proud of its Olympic bobsleigh track with 19 turns and a length of 1.5 kilometers. On the vast territory of the resort there are 3 snow parks, 3 skating rinks, several fitness centers, SPA centers and the Espace Paradisio water center, 5 cinemas, bowling, squash courts.

New to the resort is the Subli'Sim - 6 Peaks, 6 Experiences program, which includes the most unusual activities: a polar safari and a real beach at the top of the lift, tai chi classes in the Zen mountain recreation area and a free fall simulator, a candy meal in a fairy house and inflatable attractions.

La Plagne: with children

La Plagne is well suited for families with children. Most of the slopes here are easy, in addition, there are special slopes and ski lifts for children, kindergartens and ski schools operate at all stations, you can have fun in 11 children's winter parks and in amusement parks with adventure routes. La Plagne- the second skiing area, which in the winter of 2003 entered the Paradiski zone. It consists of 10 stations, six of which are connected by roads, trails and lifts, and four are located a little to the side. The most convenient hotels and residences are located in Plagne-1800, Plagne-Bellecote (1930 m), Plagne Center (1970 m), Em-Plane (2100 m), Belle Plagne (2050 m), Plagne Soleil (2050 m) and Plagne Village (2050 m).

Trail characteristics
For professionals:
there are only two areas that deserve attention - the black slopes leading from the Bellecote glacier and the descents from Biole, a good route from Grand Rochette to Champagne, but due to the fact that the slope is south, it can bring snow. Those who wish can test themselves on the virgin lands.
For the intermediate level: La Plagne is ideal for intermediate skiers with many blue and red slopes. The slopes in Champagne will be interesting for advanced skiers, their name speaks for itself: "Kamikaze" and "Harakiri". Gorgeous is the long red run of Mont de la Guerre; there are easy pistes in the main valley, long long descents from Roches de Mio are good, however, the second part of one of them is classified as black pistes. But basically in all sectors there are excellent red runs.
For beginners: Of course, La Plagne will be interesting for beginners. All slopes and ski lifts are located near the accommodation. Perhaps, when you get acquainted with the map, you will notice that there are not enough green slopes, but the blue slopes are quite simple and easy to master.
