How to apply texture to a person's face. Lesson Photoshop

Want to know how you can “swap faces” with a friend, relative, or favorite celebrity? The magic of photomontage will help you with this! How it works? Search engines on request, for sure, will offer to use Photoshop, but this program will not work for a layman. The best option is a simple one, like "Home Photo Studio". In this article, you will learn how to insert another face into a photo without having experience in photomontage.

Step # 1. Getting started

First, we suggest and install it on your PC. Follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard - the program will be ready to work in just a minute. Run the utility. In the start window, select the option "Open photo" and find the file with the photo you want to edit.

You can start working immediately after the program is installed

Step # 2. Photomontage

The next stage is the most crucial. In the main menu, click on the tab "Registration" and find in the list. In the window that appears, create a new layer. To do this, click Add Layer> Photo and upload the photo you want to overlay.

With photomontage, you can easily superimpose one photo on top of another

When choosing a photo, it is worth remembering that both photos should have approximately the same resolution and quality. Moreover, the faces should be shot from the most similar angle.

In the list, select the layer with the added image and click "Crop Photo"... A new window will appear automatically. Use free-form cropping. Carefully trace the face around the contour, trying to avoid unnecessary objects, such as accessories. If it turns out unevenly, use the option Reset Selection and try again. Close the dotted line by double clicking with the mouse. Increase the indicator on the scale "Blurring the boundaries" by pulling the slider to the right and press Apply.

Zoom in to get the most accurate and accurate results

Now let's find out how to insert another face in the photo so that the difference is not noticeable. To do this, you need to transform the clipped layer. Resize the new image by dragging the selection around the corners. The “new” face must match the size of the face in the original image. If necessary, rotate the layer by moving the slider on the scale "Angle of rotation"... Blending mode "Normal" will be set by default, but you can choose a different one if you wish. Ready! Click the Apply button.

Adjust the layer overlay so that the "new" face looks as natural as possible

Step # 3. Levels and color grading

It is still too noticeable that the face was taken from another shot. Let's do the simplest color correction. To do this, in the tab "Image" open up "Levels"... It is very easy to understand how to use this function. On the scale "Entrance levels" 3 sliders - white (light shades), gray (midtones) and black (dark shades). With their help, you can comprehensively adjust the brightness of the photo. Change the position of the sliders to darken (right) or lighten (left) the image. Then, save it by clicking "OK".

By adjusting the levels, you can make the picture with the "new" face more monotonous

Step # 4. We work with details

Now you know how to insert another face into a photo as naturally as possible, but your possibilities are not limited to this. If individual areas in the image need processing, use the tools in the panel on the left. Please select Blur brush to make the transition from the original image even smoother. Adjust the parameters of the tool - the smaller the processing object, the lower the size and transparency of the brush.

You can also darken or lighten certain areas of the photo in the same way, add sharpness, contrast or saturation to them. Just select the appropriate brush from the toolbar and process the desired part of the image.

Use darken and dodge brushes to add volume to the image

Step # 5. Save and share with friends

Let's evaluate the final result.

Photomontage will help you try on the role of your favorite movie character

You can adjust the image quality before saving

Ready! Now you know that inserting a face into another photo in Photoshop is not the only solution. This instruction is universal, use it in practice as you like. Find out and discover new features of the program! "Home Photo Studio" will become your faithful assistant in any situation when you need to process a picture with high quality.

In the next lesson, we will look at the process photomontage by means free editor gimp... As in the previously published lesson on the website, today the process of creating a poster for a movie with your participation in the lead role will be scheduled.

On the Internet, you can find many lessons about how how to replace a face in the image, but I want to demonstrate the process face replacements on Photo as I do it. And today in the lesson we will try to create movie poster with your face in the image. To start the lesson, we need the following blanks:

poster photo (this can be any photo where you want to put your face)

and accordingly your photo.

Since I like to translate foreign lessons from Photoshop and adapt them for performance in graphic editor gimpe, today the lesson is taken from a foreign site photoshopstart.ws and called "Add your face to movie poster".

Step 1. Launch the gimp editor and open the first photo, where we will add face.

Step 2. Through the menu (File - Open as Layer ..) open the second image. After that, in the layer stack, we will have the following picture:

As you can see, both layers are highlighted in bold. This indicates that these layers do not have transparency information. Let's add an alpha channel (transparency) to the top layer. To do this, right-click on the layer and select "Add Alpha Channel" from the drop-down menu

But now the name of the layer has changed from bold writing to a regular font, this indicates that the layer has transparency. Remember this.

Step 3. Now on the toolbar, select the "Free Selection" tool

And we trace along the contour of the face. Like that:

Remove selection via (Selection - Deselect / Shift + Ctrl + A)

After that, let's cut out the borders of the layer, bringing them closer to the outlines of the face. This will make it easier for ourselves to work on the next step. To change the border of the layer, go to (Layer - Crop Layer). It will turn out like this:

Now you can notice that the yellow-black line has moved closer to the contours of the face. By doing this, we cropped out the current layer.

Step 4. Reduce the opacity of the top layer with the face to 50% by moving the slider to the left or by entering a digital value in the opacity field.

Step 5. Select "Rotation" on the toolbar.

Leave the settings as default. Now click with the mouse on the layer, thereby activating the tool.

Rotate the layer until the level of the eye line coincides with the eye line of the bottom photo.

Press the "Rotate" button

Step 6. Select the Scale tool. Leave the settings as default. We also click on the work area by activating the tool. Activation will be indicated by small squares on the sides of the layer.

Now you need to click on the next chain icon to activate the proportional layer resizing mode.

While the Scale tool is active, we can move the layer with the face to the face of the photo of the lower layer. To do this, move the mouse cursor to the central circle, and the movement icon should appear next to the mouse cursor.

Click "Change".

Step 7. Select the Move tool (default settings) and move the layer with the inserted face until the eyes of the upper and lower layers match.

If you have not guessed with the proportions of the face, then you can mark your actions through (Edit - Mark action / Ctrl + z) and try again to repeat steps 5,6,7. If you are nevertheless close to the proportions of the face of the lower photo, but want to slightly correct the position of the upper layer, then you will also use the editing tools - "Rotation", "Scale" and "Move".

Step 8. Return the top layer's opacity to 100%.

Step 9. Now select the Eraser tool with the following parameters:

and gently erase the edges at the top layer, it should look something like this:

Step 10. As we can see, the complexion of the inserted fragment is slightly different from the original complexion on the movie poster. How can we solve this problem? Very simple! Go to (Color - Color Balance) and adjust the color.

Step 11.Okay, now let's use the Burn / Burn tools in Burn mode to make some parts of the face a little lighter.

Step 12. Now switch the tool to Burn mode and gently darken the areas around the eyes.

Step 13. Create a new transparent layer on top of the existing layers. Next, select "Free Selection" and draw on the left side of the face, such a selection:

Click OK. Paint over the selection with the selected color.

Deselect selection via (Selection-Deselect)

Step 14. Soften the edges of the selection through (Filters-Blur-Gaussian Blur) and leave the value at 5px. Click OK.

It is not possible to catch the moment at which they all look directly at the camera and smile. Usually in a series of photos there are several shots, in one of which someone was distracted, and the rest turned out well, and in the other - the other way around. The question is, is it possible to somehow transfer the "good part" from one photo to another? Yes, absolutely. Here's how to do it without using the "cut - paste" method.

So, let's begin...

Open in both images. Drag the background layer from one of them to the other. In this case, the new layer was a photograph in which two out of three children came out successfully. The result is a two-layer image with the less successful photo at the bottom. The image from which the top layer was copied can be closed.

Select both layers and apply the function Edit > Auto-Align Layers; then select Auto... Thus, both images will be aligned so that the faces on them will be exactly one above the other. It is very important that the two photographs you are working with do not differ much from each other in terms of the position of the people on them - in this case, it is much easier to achieve a good result when aligning.

Click on the top layer and add a layer mask (at the bottom of the layers window there is an icon " Add Layer Mask"). By default the mask will be filled with white, which means that we can see all the contents of the top layer, while the bottom one is completely hidden.

Set the foreground color to black. Take a brush with soft edges. By clicking on the layer mask (in order to paint on it, and not on the photo itself), paint over the child's face little by little, so that the bottom image "appears" under it.

Keep track of exactly which part of the bottom layer you need to "extract" with the mask. If it turns out that you overdid it, this is not a big deal - to correct the result, you just need to re-paint this part of the mask with white, and the top layer will become visible again.
To hide the transition, in this photo it was necessary to correct not only the face, but also the position of the child's neck in several places. In the screenshot, the mask is highlighted in red - for clarity, it will not be visible during operation.

When finished, examine the result carefully and, if necessary, refine the mask again or add another layer and copy individual elements from both lower ones to make the final version perfect. In this case, part of the girl's clothes had to be copied to disguise a small patch.
Then, if necessary, crop the image. Ready!
The whole process takes approximately ten minutes.

This result can be obtained in (see above), if you open two images, apply File > New > Scene Cleaner and follow the instructions.

This Photoshop tutorial will show you how easy it is to copy the faces of some people and paste them into others.

1. First, find the face of the person you want to copy. Then take the lasso tool

2. Draw the lasso tool around the face. If you want to change the selection - press Ctrl + D (deselect) and try again to outline the face.

3. Now, to remove the sharp edges of the selected image, you need to go to Select> Feather. In this case, the edges are feather 5 px, but you are looking at your picture.

4. So, you now have a selection with smooth outlines - you can copy it - Edit> Copy (or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C).

5. It remains to paste the copied image Edit> Paste.

After you have completed these steps, you will notice that everything remains in place, in fact photoshop program already placed a copy on a new layer. You can see it in the layers panel.

6. Now grab the Move Tool and try to move the face out of place. So it will be:

8. Continue moving your face until you place it in the desired place.

Many novice Photoshop users often ask me how to insert a face into a template in Photoshop. It's not difficult at all ...

  • First, select and download a template. Next, we need to select a photo of the person whose face we will use in our work. The main condition for the choice is the angle; it is also desirable to take into account the lighting. So, open both images in Photoshop. Typically, templates are already layered. To reduce the weight of the file, most layers are usually turned off. You can enable layers in different ways.
  1. By pressing the F7 key.
  2. Go to the menu on the right and select the "Layers" tab.
  3. Go to the menu at the top "Window" and select the line "Layers".
  • On the tab that opens, next to the name of the layer, there are empty squares, click on them, "eyes" will appear, and hidden layers will begin to appear on the workspace.
  • Now we open the photo we have chosen. Before inserting the face into the template, select it. This can be done by selecting the Lasso tool or the Oval Marquee tool from the right menu, then copy, Ctrl keys+ C or in the menu "Edit" - "Copy". Close this photo and open our template. Now we need to insert the face into the template. To do this, press the keys Ctrl + V or in the menu "Edit" - "Paste".
  • Since the resolution of the photo and the template are often different, we adjust them to each other. To do this, select the face in the layers and press the Ctrl + T keys or in the "Edit" - "Transform" menu. A frame appears on the workspace. Holding down the Shift key, left-click, outside the corner of the frame, adjust the size of the face to the size of the template. Sometimes it happens that the face of the person in your photo and the face on the template "look" in different directions. Apply transformation again. But, there is one caveat. A person's face is not exactly proportional, facial features are very individual, therefore, by unfolding a photo, we can change a person beyond recognition. Better to unwrap the template. Right-click on the image, a plate will appear, select "Free Transform" - "Flip Horizontally" in it.
  • Next, we need to place the layer with the face in the "right" place, that is, so that the costume and headdress (if any) are in front, and the background, collar and back of the headdress are in the back. To do this, press Ctrl + (or in the menu "Layer" - "Montage" - "Move Backward." Now, with the mouse, drag the photo to the free space of the template and carefully check the proportions. for beginners, it is not always possible to guess the proportions the first time around.
  • Next, remove the extra background in the photo. To do this, turn off the interfering layers and select the eraser in the toolbar. Using the right mouse button, set the desired pen size, hardness and carefully and carefully erase the background and turn the layers back on.
  • Then go to the menu "Image" - "Correction" - "Color Balance" and use the sliders to adjust the skin color of the face to the skin color on the template.

That's all. This is the easiest and most accessible way for a beginner to insert a face into a template in Photoshop. There are also many other plugins in the program that allow you to adjust the color and lighting of the face to the lighting on the template, but describing them is very, very long, it is better to take it yourself and experiment a little.
