How to prevent installation of Windows update KB3035583.

Many users of computers with the Windows operating system (versions 7 and 8) recently discovered that somehow a new icon appeared in the tray by itself - " Get Windows 10».

Owners of "ancient" operating systems such as Windows XP and 2000 did not receive such a "gift" and, most likely, were hardly upset because of this :).

The "Get Windows 10" icon sticks out in the system tray and looks like this:

Reasons against using Windows 10:

Recently, I found (on Habré) and read an article on the net about how impudently Windows 10 behaves, sending its creators (and, possibly, not only them) a lot of different information about users and their activities:

  • What programs are installed on the computer;
  • What sites the user visits;
  • Voice data of IP-telephony;
  • Data from a connected video camera;
  • And possibly many, many more.

And this is not surprising, because Microsoft offers its Windows 10 for free, that is, for nothing. So, there is a hidden catch! Russians love freebies, but usually not like this. In this case, it turns out - the wrong freebie, an insidious lure with consequences that so far few people assume and realize.

According to subjective feelings, because of this little lousy Microsoft utility installed without permission, offering "free cheese", a laptop with Windows 7 began to work much worse - it slowed down wildly and was stupid. As a result, it was decided to find the source of the problem and soak it!

How to remove the "Get Windows 10" message?

We will not consider the question - how to simply hide the inscription "Get Windows 10" from the tray, just remove the icon from the tray - will not remove Microsoft's intrusiveness, and the message with the ten suggestion will still remain in the system. And there, you see, you can inadvertently upgrade to an infernal ten! :)))

We set the task to remove the "BEVERAGE", which is the reason for the inscription with a proposal to get Windows 10.

The investigation showed that the reason for the appearance in the tray of a new icon and a message offering to get Windows 10 is the installation of an update from Microsoft - KV3035583. Thus, it is enough to uninstall this update to remove the inscription about receiving Windows 10.

Thus, this issue is not present for Windows users who have Windows updates automatically installed disabled. The best option for setting up updates in Windows Update is " Look for updates, but the decision to download and install is made by me".

The procedure for deleting a message about Windows 10:

1. Open section " Programs and Features" (for example, through the Control Panel), on the left click on the phrase " View installed updates":

2. In the list that opens, find the line "" and remove this update:

Attention! If in the window Installed updates"there is a lot of time, and it is difficult to search for them manually, use the search - in the upper right corner you need to write " KB3035583" (without quotes!), and all the "extra" lines will disappear, only the desired line will remain - " Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583)".

Removing an update KB3035583 is launched by double-clicking on the line or clicking on the " Delete".

3. The operating system, as usual, will not believe you the first time and will ask again about the validity of your cruel intentions:

4. Then it will still perform the deletion:

5. And it will ask you to restart the computer so that the removal is complete:

As a result of these actions, the icon " Get Windows 10” disappeared from the tray, and the computer seemed to work faster and slow down less (subjective personal assessment).

This method was used on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

How to prevent a Windows update from installing KB3035583?

6. In order not to accidentally install this nasty update again in the future - KB3035583 it needs to be blacklisted. Open Windows Update and find this update in the list of recommended ones:

The right side of the window displays sort of detailed information about this update. In fact, this information is not at all detailed, but very brief. Why wouldn't Microsoft be honest that this update will add an additional icon to the system tray with a Windows 10 offer!

7. Right click on the update line KB3035583 and in the context menu click on the line " Hide update":

Then the update KB3035583 will become inactive, now you can’t click its checkmark and, accordingly, you won’t install it:

8. If you go to the section " Restore hidden updates":

Here we will find KB3035583:

In this section, you can restore it, then install it, but DO NOT DO THIS! :)

Completed work: Development of an automatic script for deleting an upgrade reservation to Windows 10 and instructions for it.

Result: To cancel your Windows 10 upgrade reservation, do the following:

Create a system restore point according to the instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/ru-RU/windows7/Create-a-restore-point

Attention, after executing the following script, 2 updates and some system folders will be deleted, close all programs, because after the script runs, the computer will restart within five minutes.

List of updates to be removed:

Create a new text document and open it with Notepad. Copy the text into it:

taskkill /f /im GWX.exe

taskkill /f /im GWXUX.exe

wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3035583 /quiet

REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade /f

REG ADD HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /v DisableOSUpgrade /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Takeown /F "%systemdrive%\$Windows.~*" /a /r /d y

RD /s /q "%systemdrive%\$Windows.~BT"

RD /s /q "%systemdrive%\$Windows.~WS"

RD /s /q "%systemdrive%\ESD"

RD /s /q "%AppData%\..\local\GWX"

net stop wuauserver

RD /s /q "%systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download"

net start wuauserver

wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2976978 /quiet /warnrestart:300

wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2952664 /quiet /warnrestart:300

Then click in the notepad window "File" - "Save as ..." - File type: change to "All files (*. *)" - File name: write "delOSupgrade.bat" - then click on the "Save" button and bury your notepad. If you are prompted to save your changes, click Don't Save.

The delOSupgrade batch file will appear in the folder where you saved the file. Right click on it and run as Administrator!

After executing the script, if everything went well, the computer should restart in 5 minutes.

If you don't want to wait, you can send your computer to restart right away.

After the reboot, you need to open the update center and search for new updates.

If before that you had all the updates installed, then, depending on the OS version, you will have 2 updates to install in the list:

For Windows 7 SP1: KB3035583; KB2952664

For Windows 8.1 Update: KB3035583; KB2976978

From myself: After executing the script, the following window will appear: http://s42.radikal.ru/i097/1509/3b/e0efd78c7d52.jpg
in my experience, I recommend that you send your computer or laptop to reboot yourself, because in the process of waiting for an automatic reboot, updates will begin to be downloaded that will need to be hidden, and finally, you may end up with $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS folders with residual files that can be easily deleted through Disk Cleanup. After completing this process, the reservation to Windows 10 is cancelled.

If you are using the Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system, pay attention to the Taskbar: are there too many icons on it?

If you are a Windows XP user, then pay attention to the Quick Launch panel - often unnecessary icons accumulate there. The fact is that many applications, when installed on a computer, automatically pin their icons to Taskbars or add them to the panel Quick launch.

Over time, the user's preferences sometimes develop in such a way that he uses these icons very rarely or does not use them at all. In this case, it is better to remove such icons. There is no need to go to extremes. Many used icons are best left. This will allow you to save time in the future when launching the applications you need.

Removing an icon from the Taskbar in Windows 7, 8.1, 10

On Windows 7, 8.1, and Windows 10 operating systems, to remove the program icon from Taskbars right-click on it, and then in the context menu that appears, select Unpin from taskbar. Now the icon of this application will be displayed on Taskbars only when the given application is running.

Removing an Icon from the Taskbar in Windows XP

In the Windows XP operating system, to remove an icon from the panel Quick launch right-click on it and select the item from the context menu that appears Delete. In the opened window File deletion confirmation press the button Yes. The icon will be removed.

Icons displayed in the Windows 10 taskbar

If the icons in the taskbar interfere or there are too many of them, and you decide to clean up the task area next to the Windows clock, then you need to open the settings. Follow the path: Settings >> Personalization >> Taskbar.

Here we are interested in the Notification Area, where two corresponding links are located:

  1. Icons displayed in the taskbar
  2. Turning system icons on and off

After clicking on the first link, a panel will be displayed where you will be able to customize the icons in the taskbar. By switching, we can hide the application icons and they will be visible only when we click on the arrow in the taskbar, or vice versa make them visible so that they are always displayed.

Enable or disable system icons

System icons are system icons (keyboard language, clock, network, location, volume, power, etc.). You can disable or enable them by switching the "toggle switch".

Microsoft offers us to get the latest products, and does it very aggressively. Recently, a special notification appeared in the form of a tile image in the lower right corner, which prompts users to upgrade to Windows 10. The trendy icon hangs and tells potential consumers with its appearance that it's time to get a new version of the operating system. But what if we have no desire to use this excellent offer? Then you just need to remove such an icon from sight.

The meaning of such a procedure is to find the files that are responsible for updating to Windows 10 and delete them. If there are no files that generate an update, then the Get Windows 10 icon will also go away.

Simple Manual Method

You need to open the Run window, this can be done by pressing the Win and R keys. Next, you need to enter the code: wusa / uninstall / kb: 3035583, restart Windows 10, and the update will no longer bother.

Sophisticated manual method

If there is a desire not only to remove the icon of this wonderful application, but also to delve into the settings of Windows 10, then you can do the following:

  • Go to the Control Panel and find an item in the menu of installed programs called View installed updates.
  • Owners of Windows 7 generation should go over their eyes and find an update with serial numbers 2952664, 3021917, 3035583.
  • Windows 8 owners need to look for updates with serial numbers 2976978 and 3035583.
  • What should be done after finding these numbers? Delete. This can be done by pressing the right mouse button and selecting the appropriate item from the drop-down context menu.
  • If there is more than one update, but several of them, then you must select the Restart later item, otherwise you will have to wait each time for Windows 10 to restart.

After you manage to remove each update, you need to restart the computer.

But the trouble is, the Get Updates icon may appear again after it has been removed, because the Windows 10 developers are not that stupid. The offer may come up again and again. What to do next? Just need to hide the above updates from the suggestion list. Open Windows Update and right-click to hide each update there.

Just an automatic method

You need to download and install the I Don't Want Windows 10 v2.0 app. There the problem is solved with one button.

Why do you need to clean

You need to remove the icon not only because it visually interferes with some users. It's all about the load on the system tray. Why do we need an extra offer that constantly hangs and advertises the installation? Of course, Microsoft employees are very happy that their new product throws out a notification about the arrival of a fresh version of Windows 10 every day. Maybe someone and. But for ordinary people who do not work at Microsoft, it is better to get rid of intrusive ads and remove the useless program.

Removing the icon and updating can be useful so that you do not inadvertently install Windows 10. Many recognize that this one, so it may have some problems with software and hardware compatibility. Of course, before performing an automatic update, Microsoft staff checks the computer for technical requirements that must comply with a modern operating system. You can even revert to a previous version of the operating system if you don't uninstall it. But, as is clear from the release, some drivers may not be suitable. From this follows the conclusion that your favorite games will not start, working programs will not work, the mood will be spoiled for a long time. Getting a new operating system is only one side of the issue, but getting it to work properly is another.

The abundance of all kinds of notifications already tires a modern person, here an icon - there an icon - as a result, a bunch of unnecessary trash on the desktop. It's not hard to see that every app desperately wants people's attention and actively sends notification after notification. What is Apple worth, which offers an operating system update almost every week. is not only to let your computer breathe freely, but also to unload your brain from unnecessary data. No wonder modern society is called the society of information, but not of knowledge.

By the end of the working day, the head is buzzing, and then there's this Windows 10 with its obsessions to get a fresh version. Moreover, each user must decide for himself what to install and what to remove. Unfortunately, today's software makers prefer to decide for consumers. This means that they want to independently manage not only our software packages, but also the money in their pockets. So what good is it that you can lose control over your life in general. It is better to stop such attempts, starting, for example, with Windows 10.

Sick computers began to come across, on which I began to notice that appeared not so long ago, a tray icon stylized as the Windows logo. As it turned out, this icon here completely hints that it will soon be possible to switch to Windows 10, and he is ready to help with this. Oh, I love all kinds of help, of course, but I try to refuse it all the time, because they will catch up. Join our VK group! Under repair! Smart Workshop!
