Samsung Galaxy S3: owner reviews and smartphone specifications. Samsung Galaxy S3 - Specifications Samsung galaxy s3 description

The debut Samsung Galaxy S was born in mid-2010. Here is a brief picture of the world of mobile phones, so that you do not consider the Galaxy S an "upstart" who accidentally managed to break into the stars:

  • Nokia was already producing obsolete Symbian smartphones,
  • Apple has released the long-awaited iPhone 4 with a shameful level of network reception,
  • LG sat in the budget class (like now Fly, for example),
  • Xiaomi smartphones weren't born yet,
  • Meizu produced a parody of the iPhone running Windows Mobile.

Android was still of little use to anyone and looked like a short-lived experiment like a half-dead Maemo / Meego. Because most of the android phones were still those goners - with poor autonomy, buggy firmware or memory deficiency. For example, HTC released Desire in 2010 with 576 MB (!) of internal memory, of which even less was free. Sony Ericsson was selling the flagship X10 with 384 MB of RAM, ancient Android 1.6, incomplete color display and non-working multi-touch! Therefore, Galaxy S, as the only Android flagship brought to mind, provoked a culture shock - there was simply nothing of the same quality, with all the "bells and whistles" working, except for the iPhone!

Samsung Galaxy S

Yes, it was frustrating with a weak level of GPS reception (Samsung was just learning to produce its processors), the flagship hardware pulled the TouchWiz proprietary shell with great difficulty, and the RAM was especially polluted. But in terms of the quality of the display, the sound in the headphones, the rear camera and the design, the Galaxy S was the best, and the only competitor to the iPhone. Success was predictable.

Galaxy SII - when the power reserve overcame all other innovations

Considered by many to be the best Galaxy S ever made. At one time, it was coolly received by the "reviewers" because it seemed like a boring piece of plastic with powerful hardware, but practice showed that ordinary workers needed just an ordinary android phone with excessive performance, a good camera and no show off like a 3D camera / 3D display (HTC Evo 3D) or a game console (Sony Ericsson Xperia Play).

In the broadest sense of the word, the smartphone was indeed created on the principle of “the same cabbage soup, but pour more”. At the same time, soup was already very expensive, and the processor, although it was better than the “low-power stove” NVIDIA Tegra 2 in the first dual-core, LG Optimus 2X, was also very hot and voracious. Yes, and jokes with lamentations about the autonomy of Android flagships also began with the Galaxy SII - under load, smartphones worked “from socket to socket” for only a few hours.

But SII was "stuffed" so much that even today, after 6 years, its characteristics do not look like a laughing stock. Very cool, powerful "mainstream" - a solid phone without experiments. Competitors were either late and were weaker (HTC Sensation XE with its “under-RAM” 768 MB of RAM and 1 GB of internal memory, single-core Sony Xperia Arc with 512 MB of RAM), or were sold overseas (Motorola RAZR XT910) and did not really compete with the "worldwide" Galaxy SII.

Samsung Galaxy S2

In short, the outrageous characteristics of iron with a design similar to the first generation justified themselves - the smartphone became wildly popular with the original buyers, and then very slowly reduced in price in the secondary market. Since then, the main complaint against the Galaxy S in comparison with the iPhone has been the body materials - indecently expensive and plastic Samsung somehow did not please the eye in comparison with glass-metal iPhones.

In those years, Samsung did not yet consider enthusiasts to be second-class buyers and did not put spokes in their wheels with regional blocking, changing bootloaders and KNOX, so the Galaxy SII is still popular with geeks - if desired, even Android 7.0 can be installed on it.

Galaxy SIII - "soap box with whistles"

Starting with the third Galaxy S, Samsung began to "comb" its flagships under the new corporate design - instead of the "iPhone, but not iPhone" appearance, because of which Apple sued the Koreans, the flagships received, sorry, slick glossy plastic cases.

With such innovations, many Galaxy lovers experienced acute discomfort, the smartphone was forever nicknamed "remnant". But fans have always chosen the Galaxy for superior performance, and those same features have changed dramatically since the SII - no wonder sales soared, with 50% more people buying the S3 than the S2.

Five years later, the Galaxy SIII doesn't look cool at all - it didn't become a "living classic" like the SII, and very quickly "deflated" in terms of prestige/suitability for modern work, unlike peers such as the LG Optimus G/Nexus 4 or iPhone 5. And the Galaxy SIII became the most problematic Samsung flagship in terms of reliability - many smartphones “died” due to premature wear of internal memory, and the AMOLED display, not only became more grainy (“thanks” to Pentile technology), but also and had a tendency to "burn out" quickly. That is, traces of applications or menus were immortalized on the screen.

Samsung Galaxy S3

The processor was not outstanding either - just a "sandwich" of Galaxy S2 cores with outdated graphics. For comparison, Qualcomm already then offered a 28 nm process technology (APQ8064 in LG Optimus G and Xiaomi Mi2) and a 2 (!) Times cooler video accelerator for games.

But, starting from the third generation of the Galaxy S3, the Koreans began to introduce a pack of "whistles" into their top model, which no one used (the only happy exception was the auto-brightness of the display):

  • Multiwindow. Almost useless at 4.7 inches and not always adequately working.
  • S Voice. A stupid voice assistant, the use of which was only in English-speaking countries.
  • Gestures and voice commands. Well, remember, without searching the Internet, what command did the Galaxy S3 take the photo with? How to take a screenshot without touching the screen?
  • S-Beam. File transfer via NFC. Have you used this feature many times or seen it in practice?

They bought the Galaxy S3 not for the design (which was terrible compared to the Sony Xperia S / SL or the same iPhone 5) and not for the perfection of the camera, in which the Nokia Lumia 920 remained the leader. The third generation Galaxy was sold out partly by inertia, partly because, although the smartphone was not the leader in each of the individual categories, all the components in it were of high quality and flagship. And it was also bought for the sake of an “adult” display diagonal and all the same 4 cores, good sound in headphones and the regular release of new versions of Android, unlike LG Optimux 4S, HTC One X or Sony Xperia S, for example.

Galaxy S4 - unattainable "spaceship"

The fourth generation of the “galaxy” was closer in concept to the Galaxy SII than to its predecessor. Because Samsung rallied and built the coolest smartphone of 2013. Octa-core processor! Full HD AMOLED display with multiple color modes (even photographers were pleased)! The screen is 0.2 inches larger in a more compact body!

Therefore, it looks rather strange that the S4 was sold in the same circulation as the S2, that is, in the amount of 40 million units versus 60 million compared to the Galaxy S3.

The problem, probably, was that over the past three years since the announcement of the first Galaxy S, competitors have also given birth to balanced flagships, and Samsung users are already tired of the plastic case (a little more elegant, but too similar to S3), fat shell and far-fetched software innovations . For example, the LG G2 gave a light to Samsung in terms of display brightness, performance, and video quality, while the platform Nexus 5 was also cheaper. HTC One M7, with its stupid camera and weak battery, still looked much more expensive. Yes, and the "cut" support for LTE (4G) in many countries could also confuse someone. Software innovations, like a video pause if you take your eyes off the screen, a slightly wiser S-Voice assistant and stupid photos with sound / photos on two cameras at the same time, as you might guess, “did not take off”.

Samsung Galaxy S4

And the Galaxy Note 3 pulled the blanket over itself, which turned from an experimental “shovel” with a stylus for artists and businessmen into a popular “big Samsung” when phablets were at the peak of popularity.

In any case, the Galaxy S4 has become one of the most technically advanced, popular and "ageless" flagships, to which even Samsung engineers "breathed unevenly" - a situation when a non-Nexus is updated to a new version of Android a couple of years after the release, are vanishingly rare. This is a smartphone that you can use to this day and not feel deprived of anything (except, perhaps, for LTE connectivity).

The Galaxy S5 is neither good nor bad. No

Either Samsung got sick of releasing the Galaxy S and the Koreans were preparing to replace it with other models, or it became difficult to snatch a pack of performance and luxury records from the "bins" of the engineering department, but in the fifth generation the smartphone turned out to be ... insipid.

Firstly, Samsung "cheated" with the holy of holies - the display and the processor. Yes, Full HD AMOLED, as it was in the Galaxy S4, only a little brighter than its predecessor. And that's it? And where is the selective Samsung processor with which Galaxy put competitors on the blades in 2011 and 2013? Why is the buyer of the "most sophisticated iPhone alternative" being offered the consumer-grade Snapdragon 801, which is even in the unnamed Chinese (OnePlus One)? And why didn’t they deprive the Galaxy Note 4 of innovations, which has always been on the sidelines? And only the lazy did not joke about the nauseating varieties of “skin of young plastic” in the style of the Zhiguli ceiling and the peeling frame “under the metal”. The Galaxy S5 looked especially sad in comparison with the iPhone 6 of the same year of release.

But the smartphone has become popular not because of the characteristics "on paper", but, as in the case of the first Galaxy S, the quality of the execution of what was put into it.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Simply because the “most likely” opponent in terms of bells and whistles, the LG G3, was slow, overheated, and had little battery life (the processor pulled the Quad HD display with great difficulty), and the camera was worse in it. HTC One M8 firmly settled in the class “but we have a cool case and stereo speakers!”, But it didn’t shine with anything else, Windows phones almost died, Motorola Nexus 6 failed in sales because Google didn’t understand (and doesn’t understand to this day, judging by situations with Pixel) that no one needs expensive Googlephones. And in the fight against the Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung had the argument “so I'm Samsung” and a similar water protection class. Oh yes, another innovation of the model was a fingerprint scanner - disgusting in terms of the quality of work, but you understand how simple such nuances were indifferent to ordinary workers?

In short, Samsung has a high-quality, super-reliable, but very boring flagship. And it was impossible to continue like this, because sales of the smartphone "did not go", and the company's management became clear that with such an approach, not today or tomorrow, even the powerful "Chinese will trample" the great Galaxy S.

Galaxy S6/S6 edge - Samsung's revolutionary flagship with mediocre sales and "childhood illnesses"

No high-end smartphone of 2015 was perfect, but the Galaxy S6 got the closest to this bar. All-new, luxurious glass and metal design (Samsung's first non-ugly flagship since the Galaxy S2!), bright and perfectly calibrated 5.1" Quad HD display, the fastest and smoothest processor in Android phones of 2015 (thanks to the massive fiasco Qualcomm Snapdragon 810), super-fast internal memory in random operations, very high-quality rear camera, thin body. And in the Galaxy S6 edge, there is also a futuristic design, albeit at the expense of ease of use.

In other words, in 2015, the most beautiful, fastest and most technically advanced Samsung flagship was born in two varieties - flat and curved. Even after two years, only two drawbacks can be noted in it: rather poor (by flagship standards) autonomy and the lack of a slot for memory cards.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

True, defective copies of the S6 were more common than the previous generation model. Pink displays, failure of the rear camera focus, purple spots in the pictures on the front camera - users of Samsung flagships have not seen such a number of problems since the SIII.

Samsung Galaxy S6

The sixth generation of the Galaxy can be called without any exaggeration the best smartphones of 2015, so it's a shame that they couldn't repeat the success of the S5. They failed so much that they asked the head of Samsung's mobile division. The problem was that Samsung executives piled on the shelves of the S6 and S6 edge in equal numbers, and the queues lined up mainly for the curved version. And the price of the smartphone was astronomically high.

You can't see anyone with smartphones these days. Until relatively recently, these gadgets were perceived by a large number of consumers as something new, supernatural and inaccessible to the average Russian, but today it is already very difficult to imagine life without them. These are stylish and will help pass the time on a trip or in long lines, and a large number of different options make them really indispensable.

The South Korean company "Samsung" is one of the manufacturers of mobile equipment. A few years ago, mobile phones manufactured by a corporation from South Korea were not of good quality, quickly failed and were extremely unreliable. For several years, the South Korean manufacturer has managed to make a significant leap in its development, increase production volumes and significantly improve the quality of products. All this allowed the company "Samsung" for the first time in many years to become one of the leading manufacturers of smartphones.

One of the brand's most popular smartphone lines has allowed the company to take a leading position in the global mobile industry. One of the most successful South Korean-made gadgets Samsung Galaxy-S3, reviews of which are mostly positive, will be discussed in this article.

Device scope of supply

In most cases, the reviews on the package are positive. According to the owners of this stylish device, along with a smartphone, the user gets almost everything you need to work with it. The package includes the following items:

  • phone itself;
  • charger to it;
  • user guide;
  • USB cable;
  • wired headphones;
  • lithium-ion battery.

Design

The appearance of the device is one of its significant drawbacks (according to the owners of the gadget). The smartphone looks too simple, its design is almost copied from previous models. Nevertheless, several color schemes, a thin body that fits quite well in the hand and the relatively small dimensions of the device as a whole create a rather pleasant impression of the gadget.

This model is promoted under a rather interesting motto of the unity of nature and technology, so we can assume that the rounded shape of the device is somewhat similar to a stone near the sea coast. Enhances the impression and the pattern covering the back of the device. The smartphone case is presented in white, blue and black colors. All three versions look quite good and it is really difficult to choose a clear favorite among them.

Dimensions

As for the dimensions of the flagship smartphone in 2012, it must be said that they are relatively small - 13.66 by 7.06 by 0.88 centimeters with a device mass of 133 grams. As you can see, the device turned out to be quite thin, and the small mass of the Samsung Galaxy-S3 also pleases. In the hand, the device lies quite well, easily fits into a trouser pocket, does not interfere with walking and does not take up too much space.

Assembly and controls

There are absolutely no complaints about the assembly of the smartphone. About her Samsung Galaxy-S3 reviews of the owners are good. According to them, the plastic case is very well and tightly assembled. You can only find fault with the removable panel, which is slightly squeezed in the camera area. It is difficult to remove the back cover, as it is very rigidly fixed and pressed close to the surface.

There is no backlash over the entire area of the device: neither at the back nor at the sides. The buttons are great too. And although the Samsung Galaxy-S3 smartphone, reviews of which are mostly positive, was awarded the "satisfactory" rating for the materials, it can be safely put "excellent" for the build quality.

The location of the smartphone controls is typical for most products of the South Korean company Samsung. On the top panel of the device, the user will find a standard 3.5 mm jack, which is designed specifically for connecting headphones, a microUSB port, and a microphone. On the left side is the volume rocker, while on the right is the display lock button. I must say that they are very comfortable. It is a pity that the phone does not have a special button designed specifically for taking pictures. She certainly wouldn't mind here.

Under the display of the device there is a single key, supplemented by two touch zones "Functions" and "Back". A similar innovation can be observed in the Samsung Galaxy-S3 mini smartphone, reviews of which are even better than the model described in this article. These two zones have backlights, which, if desired, can be turned off completely or set their operating time.

Above the screen of this model, the consumer will be able to detect a silver speaker cover, and lighting, as well as a front camera. Many users of such a wonderful device are also pleased that a light indicator has finally appeared here. I must say that the diode shines brightly, can notify you of missed calls, new messages, and also blinks when charging.

The back surface of the smartphone is smooth and even, like pebbles smoothed with water. At the top, the main camera slightly protrudes, which is edged with a silver frame. Between it and the case there is a small gap where dust constantly gets into. However, everything is relatively easy to clean, so only the most picky users of the gadget will be able to identify this flaw. Also on the rear panel there is a speaker hole and, of course, an LED flash, which is located directly next to the main camera.

Display

We are all gradually getting used to the extra-large diagonals of the display of mobile devices operating under the control of the Android platform. The Samsung Galaxy-S3 phone was no exception. And although the diagonal of its screen is not 6, but "only" 4.8 inches, it clearly cannot be called small. However, a similar display, if we take into account the reviews of the Samsung Galaxy-S3 owners, was to the taste of many buyers.

The screen of the device is made using HD Super AMOLED technology, has a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, and also supports up to 10 clicks at the same time. This version of the smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer "Samsung" did not do without PenTile, which noticeably affects the clarity of fonts. Most likely, only especially vigilant users will notice this, while other consumers will leave such a fact without any attention, since it does not catch the eye at all.

With a dot density of 306 pixels per inch, there is no reason to complain about poor image quality. Disadvantages in the display are visible only at close range, when the smartphone is located at a distance of 10 cm from the eyes. The picture is bright, but automatic adjustment does not work very well here. On the street, the screen brightness is practically not lost, although in this aspect the smartphone is slightly inferior to its counterparts in the face of the Sony Xperia P.

Main and front cameras

Nowadays, one of the main criteria for competition between modern gadgets is the quality of the camera. The best devices shoot at about the same level. Most users like to store the shots taken in their smartphones, so it is very rare for photos to go beyond the internal memory or memory card of the device. The capabilities of most cameras of modern phones are so great that they allow you to upload your photos immediately to social networks, not to mention the highest quality video recording.

The smartphone from "Samsung" is equipped with a main camera, the resolution of which reaches 8 megapixels. The module also has an LED flash and, of course, automatic image focusing. The smartphone has a quick capture function, when the device takes a picture immediately after the shutter button has been touched. This function, unfortunately, does not always work correctly, so sometimes the pictures are blurry. The maximum photo resolution is 3264 by 2448 pixels. The main camera can also record video in FullHD resolution - 1920 by 1080 pixels.

Also S3, the reviews of which will give you an additional idea about this device, is equipped with a front camera with a resolution of 1.9 megapixels and is designed for making video calls.

Samsung Galaxy-S3: smartphone specifications

The device is powered by a quad-core processor Exynos-4412 - Samsung's own design. The frequency of this processor reaches 1.4 GHz. Mali-400MP acts as a graphics adapter here. As for the RAM, its volume is 1 GB, while there is plenty of internal memory - 16, 32 or 64 GB, depending on the configuration of the device. Moreover, if necessary, the user can use the capacity of which should not exceed 32 GB.

operating system

The device from Samsung operates under the control of the Android 4.0.4 platform, which is complemented by a proprietary shell called TouchWiz. The smartphone works quite quickly, and using it is a pleasure.

Communications

Among the communications in the device from the South Korean company Samsung, it is worth highlighting the presence of the fourth version of Bluetooth, USB connectors, and a Wi-Fi module, which is designed specifically for wireless access to the Internet. It is also worth highlighting the NFC technology and S Beam.

Battery and battery life

The Samsung smartphone has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2100 mAh. The advantages of this battery include the fact that it is replaceable and, if desired, consumers can purchase a spare battery if there are concerns that one will not be too convenient.

If you go to the settings of the Samsung Galaxy-S3, you can turn on the energy-saving mode, which will significantly extend the battery life of the smartphone. You can force the processor to run at a lower frequency, reduce the brightness of the display, or put a different background.

The manufacturer claims that the battery life of the device is 9.5 hours of talk time and 290 hours of standby time. In normal mode, with not too frequent use, the phone is able to work during the day. In this case, it all depends on the loads on the device.

Conclusion

Summing up, I would like to say that the reviews about the Samsung Galaxy-S3 can be read more positive than negative. Pleases also conversational speaker, which cleanly and clearly transmits the voice. As for the volume of the call, it is above average, and the vibration is average in strength. If the case materials were a little better, and the design was not so primitive, we could safely say that Samsung has turned out to be the perfect smartphone.

In any case, a product from a well-known South Korean manufacturer is unlikely to disappoint consumers. The device turned out to be of really high quality, and you can buy it at a price of approximately 15 thousand rubles. Of course, the cost is slightly overpriced, but for this money the consumer will receive a really high-quality and reliable device that will delight him with its work for a long time.

Today we are reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300. This is not an easy phone, but a super-sophisticated one. This is a smartphone - a descendant of two galaxies, dressed in a glossy look. Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 is a gadget doomed to success. How is it different from the standard Samsung S3?

As for the appearance, this multifunctional smartphone is unlikely to turn its tongue with an ordinary device for calls. The phone, despite its size, does not feel heavy in the hand.

There are a lot of gossip and anecdotes about its design. One gets the impression that because of its hugeness it will simply not be possible to control with one hand, but in the situation with the GT i9300 this statement is absolutely wrong. It is easy and simple to use it even with a lady's pen, let alone men.

The body of the device is made of plastic, although the company originally promised ceramics. Outwardly, the device looks very unusual, but still it is slippery plastic, which, during operation, strives to jump out of your hand. Corrugated surfaces in this regard are more practical. But if you buy an additional cover, then this will not only save the C3 from scratches, but also protect it from slipping. Although about scratches, it is worth saying that even without an additional cover, the gadget does not scratch in your pocket.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 has a removable back cover that needs to be removed very carefully. The reason lies in the fact that it has a large number of latches, and plus plastic is plastic. Although the cover can be replaced by yourself, even without visiting a service center. Its prices are extremely low.

Under the cover, you will find a Micro-sim slot, but to be honest, there is enough space for a standard one. It is not clear what the company was guided by in this case. And also under the cover is a slot for a MicroSD card, which will further expand the memory of the gadget.

Despite the material and its flexibility, the assembly of the device is on top, as befits a device from an A-company. No backlashes, gaps, nothing goes and does not twitch. Two colors are available: white and dark blue.

There are several indicators on the front. The left one, for example, will flash if a call is missed or an email has arrived. It's also worth mentioning that the S3 GT-i9300 has an interesting feature. If the owner missed a call or SMS, then when he picks up the phone, he, in turn, will begin to vibrate.

In addition to the alert indicator, there is also a light indicator, which, depending on the amount of light in the room, sets the screen brightness for eye comfort and additionally saves battery. True, some users complain that it does it too smoothly.

The right indicator recognizes the face in front of the screen, which is lame in implementation. For example, if the owner is wearing regular glasses, then the smartphone does not want to unlock, which creates problems.

At the bottom of the front part is the usual mechanical button in the center, with which you can return to the main menu or unlock the smartphone. For the latter case, there is also a special "Mode" button, which is located on the right side. Next to the mechanical button, there are touch-sensitive “fountain” buttons for returning and returning to the context menu.

On the back of the device is an 8MP camera, an LED flash and a very powerful external speaker.

S3 GT-i9300 is sold in a beautiful blue box, which, in addition to the phone itself, also contains:

  • Micro USB cable;
  • socket adapter;
  • instructions, inserts and warranty card;
  • white headphones with a set of three different ear cushions - larger, smaller and in the shape of an ellipse.

Screen

The characteristics of the C3 screen are as follows: diagonal - 4.8 inches; resolution - 1280 by 720 pixels. Super Amoled display based on active matrix organic light emitting diodes. These screens have a wide variety of advantages. The most important of them is a full viewing angle in all directions while maintaining color, brightness and contrast.

Second-generation Gorilla Glass will protect the screen from scratches and scuffs, but not always keep it from cracks and bruises.

The flickering frequency of the picture is 60 Hertz. The display supports multi-touch up to 10 simultaneous touches. Graininess is imperceptible neither when viewing pictures, nor when reading text.

Processor and operating system

The device has a quad-core processor Exynos 4412, which operates at a frequency of 1.4 GHz. Video accelerator - Mali 400 MP. RAM 1 GB, built-in 16 GB. There are competitors who provide more opportunities in this regard, but at the same time they ask for less at a price. If this memory is not enough for you, then you can choose versions of 32 and 64 GB or expand with cards.

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT i9300 is running Android 4.0.4. The interface of the gadget is represented by a proprietary "tachwiz". Square icons look great on an oval smartphone display. Locking and unlocking the device are accompanied by pleasant sounds.

Playing on this device is a real pleasure. None of the games cause the i9300 to lag, unless of course you try to run super-heavy games, so you have to lower the settings.

The gadget is equipped with a small 2100 mAh battery by modern standards.

With Wi-Fi on and under full load, the phone lasts all day. Very good result for a smartphone of this class.

Curious Features

The S3 i 9300 has a number of interesting goodies:

  • Smart Stay or Intelligent Waiting. Thanks to this function, the device controls whether the owner is looking at the display at that second. If not, it turns it off to save power.
  • SVoice is Apple's analogue of Siri. Unfortunately, if you do not know English, then this function is of no particular value.
  • "Remember everything" is an application specifically for those who do not like text reminders. To use it, you just need to press the microphone, and, for example, say, for example, "I want to call my mom back today in 15 minutes." After that, you need to click "Save". No more actions will have to be performed, neither to set the date and time. The gadget will do everything.
  • To take a screenshot, simply swipe your palm across the screen. Including you can set up your phone so that it recognizes touches. Each movement has its own function.
  • A set of different vibration signals, where you can each of them, for example, your contact number.
  • If the contact book is open and a certain person is selected, then you can simply bring the gadget to your ear, and C3 immediately starts calling him. True, for the very first time you need to select the communication option - via Skype or a regular call, so that the device remembers.
  • SMS voice dialing.

Camera

At Samsung Galaxy S3 The i9300 has two cameras as standard: the main one is 8 megapixels and the front one is 1.9 megapixels. Let's deal with both in order.

The main camera is just the best. With it, you can get good panoramic shots. In the functionality, you can find an interesting feature, like a series of pictures. The device takes 8 photos, and then you can choose the best one in your opinion. Very handy when shooting moving subjects.

A module from Sony is installed on the main camera, which is similar in quality to the module for iPhone 4S. The decision is controversial, especially if we recall the success of Samsung in developing its own matrices.

The flash here is simple, LED. There is no separate button to launch the camera. It is activated by an icon from the desktop or lock screen. The shooting speed is 3.5 frames per second. Improved image processing algorithm. There is image stabilization. Focusing on a given point and face detection are possible. The emphasis is on the convenience of the software component and its versatility.

Only one thing can be said about the front camera - it is simple, but you can take a selfie.

The camcorder shoots in 1080p resolution. During the shooting, you can also take a photo along the way. The quality of pictures and videos is decent.

Results

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 is a stylish and concise A-class smartphone that is easy and convenient to manage. By purchasing it, the owner gets good quality, a good camera, excellent sound, both with and without headphones, and a variety of features that make life easier.

Video

This time the new flagship got to us pretty quickly - a little over two weeks after the announcement in London. Yes, and we wanted to see it this time more than in the previous two years - Samsung was too good at making noise, warming up desire and making the Samsung Galaxy S 3 the most anticipated Android smartphone in the world.

Body and appearance

Using this smartphone, I completely changed my outlook on design, ergonomics, quality of materials and the materials themselves. During the presentation, I was a little perplexed, why plastic again, also glossy? In fact, when you pick up a smartphone for the first time, you understand that everything is as it should be. Why is the case collapsible? It's simple - it should be so if you know how to make a smartphone strong and durable. The Samsung Galaxy S 3 is just like that, I couldn't get any crackling even with a lot of effort. Even the HTC One X had a small slide on the back, if you press it, everything is gorgeous. The collapsible design has a number of advantages, for example, you can always put a larger battery or buy a spare if you go camping, and if the cover is scratched, you can always replace it. Here the situation is even better than a year ago, where the lid did not cover the entire back, which means that if the smartphone flops back on the asphalt, its non-replaceable part will also be scratched. Of course, a year ago, I called this design an improvement, because in the original Galaxy S, the lid covered the entire back and had a habit of creaking from this. But in the “troika” they were able to make the fasteners reliable, I can’t imagine how something can creak in a year.

Why plastic? Again, I quickly found a reasonable explanation for myself. If the body were made of aluminum, it would most likely be non-separable, moreover, with a hard fall on the asphalt, the metal deteriorates more, and the traces then do not polish off on their own. If the case were glass, then I don’t even want to imagine what would happen if the smartphone fell even on a flat tile.

Why is plastic glossy? Again, I'm quick... No, it's still a question. There is no feeling of cheapness, contrary to expectations, it looks quite nice, but such material as in Nokia 808 PureView would be more practical, I think. There, too, the design is collapsible and the plastic looks better.

But keep in mind, it cannot be said that the smartphone is made of glossy plastic, only the cover. If you want, change it to something else, I'm sure the Chinese will rivet it.

So, with the materials and construction sorted out, what about the design in general? The shape of the smartphone almost repeats the body and I like it. At least it's no longer an iPhone, as was the case with the first generation Galaxy S, but it's not a faceless square piece of plastic, like last year's flagship. Here you can see that they worked on the design, the smartphone looks nice in the hands and, moreover, lies comfortably in the hand.

SGS3 will be available in two color options - white and blue. Again - the absence of black - like some kind of destroyed stereotype, because any phone is primarily produced in black! I did not keep the blue, but I dare to suggest that it is as beautiful as the white.

I can't call the SGS3 a shovel, it can even be used with one hand, although I almost dropped it a few times. The smartphone is noticeably larger than the iPhone and just as noticeably smaller. Carrying a smartphone in the front pocket of jeans does not cause the slightest inconvenience, as well as using the phone every day. But, this is already a matter of taste and palm size, for many a smartphone may seem too big.

Location of everything on the sides of the device

Items have not been added. Probably the only thing I would like to see else is the camera key. Although not always, but very often it is more convenient to take pictures with its help. I'll start with the main one - from the display. It in the Galaxy S 3 has a diagonal of 4.8 ″, is made using Super AMOLED technology and the pixels are placed according to the PenTile scheme. By the way, this is the first question for a smartphone, for me it is even more relevant than gloss. Yes, many will say that at this resolution, namely 1280x720 pixels, the graininess is not visible, but this is not so. Yes, when viewing photos, videos, scrolling desktops, there are no questions. But when reading the text, the ribbing of the letters is noticeable and a pity. After the world community expressed their "fa" about this, Samsung reacted, allegedly PenTile was used due to the longer display life. But given that we are talking about terms that are not comparable with the duration of using one smartphone, it becomes obvious that the manufacturer saves money on displays with the “Plus” sign.

The rest of the screen is fine, and if you're already familiar with AMOLED technology and you like it, the display on the Galaxy S 3 won't disappoint. It is bright enough to maintain readability in the sun, but this can no longer be called a trump card, since, in the same LG Optimus L7, the screen is not Super AMOLED, but its maximum brightness can even be higher. I, as before, do not like the too high level of the minimum brightness of the backlight, in the dark you have to squint your smartphone.

Incredibly pleased with the presence of an LED indicator, which, moreover, can be configured.

It is located above the display, to the left of the speaker. When there is nothing to notify about, you will not even know about the existence of the notifier! To the right of the speaker are light and proximity sensors, as well as a 1.9 MP camera. By the way, it can record video in 720p, the pictures are also good.

Below the display we see a standard "Samsung" set of buttons: a mechanical home key and two touch buttons on the sides of it. I am glad that they retained the purpose of the touch keys, but they could have made a multitasking key, as everyone does. Honestly, I don't see the point. Much more convenient, it seems to me, to hang the management of open applications on the central key, which will need to be held down for a second. So it's done here!

Yes, in the case of the control keys, beauty prevailed over convenience. If the location of the buttons almost from the bottom cannot even be called beautiful, then the shape of the hardware key is nicer than in SGS2 or SGSNote, but it is too narrow, you will have to get used to using it.

Unlike, the headphone and headset jack is placed on the top of the smartphone. Here we see the second microphone. Below is a conversational microphone and a MicroUSB connector.

On the left is the lock and power key, on the right is the paired volume button.

Removing the cover reveals slots for MicroSD and MicroSIM cards, as well as a 2100 mAh battery. Autonomy is enough for a day, but with more or less moderate use. I think, as in the case of the Galaxy S 2, a software update will arrive in a month or two and autonomy will increase.

Camera

One of the main "chips" of the first two generations of "galaxies" was the camera - one of the best in its time. Galaxy S 3 is no exception, it has an 8 MP camera, the video is recorded up to 1080p. So far, nothing surprising, but the quality has become a little better than in Galaxy Note, the difference with SGS2 is more noticeable. The video is written with excellent sound, before SGS3 this title belonged to HTC Sensation XL (from Android smartphones). The fact is that, having tried to record a video at a concert, with almost any smartphone you will get a video track and a noise track, instead of sound. In the Galaxy S 3, even drums played a meter away from the device recorded perfectly.

It is possible to take continuous shooting at a frequency of 3.5 frames per second, then the smartphone itself offers the best photos from the series. You can, of course, save all the photos.

You can see examples of photos in, or, in full size.

Soft

This time, Samsung did everything as correctly as possible - they didn’t bulge cores, megahertz and everything else, but made a fairly powerful smartphone with an emphasis on software. I keep repeating that pieces of iron are just a tool, you can’t take anything from them, except for a guarantee of the good work of the software. If all the software I need will work on a certain hardware, you don’t even have to say how many cores there are and whose they are. Android smartphones are starting to show really good interface smoothness and the Galaxy S 3 is yet another confirmation of this. Starting from the little things like scrolling through desktops, contacts or long menus, I didn't notice any fps drops or stutters.

The smartphone has the latest version of Android 4.0.4, on top of which they pulled the proprietary TouchWiz shell, which here received the Nature UX prefix. The bottom line is that locking, unlocking, the sound of keystrokes and more, are accompanied by sounds from nature. Cool, not cool - I don't know. Not usual, but so be it.

The interface has become nicer than in previous versions of TouchWiz, but it is still far from HTC Sense in terms of beauty and convenience. But in the speed of work, it seems to me that TW has already bypassed the opponent. It's good that many chips from bare Android 4.0 are observed, this is a multitasking interface, and a menu consisting of applications and widgets, and deleting elements with swipes in some menus. It's a pity that they forgot about creating a folder by dragging one icon onto another.

But now I realize that I can no longer say: "Put your shitty shell away", I'm starting to like it. Change the icons and you can rejoice! The fact is that Samsung didn’t just say: “Here’s a new version of TW with an unusual name and gurgling water, clap!” They brought a lot of unique things here, which were the main focus of the presentation. Eg, S Beam, because they were able to accomplish what I dreamed about and once talked about in a video blog, now you can transfer files via Wi-Fi, but connect devices to each other using NFC. Just hit your smartphones and don't worry about anything. Or what about face recognition in photos, with the ability to add them to contacts and then call directly from the photo! Or Function Smart Stay, which prevents the screen from going blank when you are reading some text. There are many other innovations, for example, S Voice, which, in fact, is a competitor to Siri. But even the advanced S Memo and the planner I like here.

SamSiri

This woman, who is actually called S Voice, still has a lot to learn in life. Too early she was sent to the people, I think. The voice assistant is called by double pressing the center key, after which you can speak. In principle, the simplest questions, asked at the right time, you will get an answer, for example, if you want to know the weather. After receiving the result, the woman goes to rest, you can wake her up by saying "Hi Galaxy". But in practice, our woman is strong, sometimes you can’t wake up with requests alone.

There is also a character, for example, the dialogue below is reminiscent of the children's game "Buy an elephant" (thanks to the reader on Twitter for the association).

I note that it was not me who asked stupid questions, such as “I would like to see”, I wanted to finish the phrase, but my aunt just interrupts in mid-sentence and, without listening to the end, is talking nonsense. And there are simple misunderstandings.

(The last screenshot was provided by our reader, obviously taken on a different smartphone, but still)

Performance

Perhaps many were waiting for even more powerful hardware, but the one installed in the Galaxy S 3 makes the smartphone the most powerful Android device on the market. This is facilitated by the Exynos 4212 quad-core processor, with a frequency of 1.4 GHz and the Mali-400MP graphics accelerator. The RAM is 1 GB, although it was possible to install two already, there is never a lot of RAM. Built-in memory can be 16, 32 or 64 GB, but remember, there is also a slot for a memory card!

With great performance, you can even open Full HD video in a separate window while doing other things. This window can be moved around the screen and the interface does not even think about it!

Conclusion

We got another star among all smartphones in general. Not a revolution, but a really cool device that you want to use and, most importantly, convenient to use. But, if last year the Galaxy S 2 simply had no alternatives until the Galaxy Note and then the Galaxy Nexus came out, now you can safely look at at least three models from other manufacturers:, and, they are all good in their own way. I can’t even single out a strong favorite from them, so I recommend that if you are going to buy such a smartphone, look at all these new items. But the competent promotion, which I spoke about at the very beginning, has done its job - the Samsung Galaxy S 3 is already the most anticipated smartphone. To date, about 10 million devices have already been ordered by operators and it is very possible that sales of SGS3 in the first few days will set a new record in the market. After talking with the new flagship of the company for a little less than a week, I can safely recommend the new product to you!

The SAR level indicates the maximum amount of electromagnetic radiation that the human body is exposed to when holding a mobile device at hip level. The highest acceptable SAR value in the US is 1.6 W/kg per gram of human tissue. This value is set by the FCC, and the CTIA controls whether mobile devices comply with this standard.
