HP laserjet 1320 does not print multiple copies. The printer does not print multiple copies of the same document

Today I will write about a problem that I personally encountered not so long ago, namely: printer prints one page, however, it ignores the number of specified copies to print, and only prints one. In this case, the problem occurred with the HP 1320 printer, but it can happen not only with the models and devices of this manufacturer. Usually, in this situation, the user begins to delve into the settings of the program from where the print is made; reinstall drivers, etc. If he is not well versed in computer technology, then he calls professionals who do not hesitate to take "decent" payment for their work. However, you can easily avoid losing your nerves and money and use my instructions. After that, your printer will stop printing one page or one copy at a time and will continue to work fully. The method for eliminating the problem is extremely simple, even an unprepared user can use it. If the problem persists, you can use more complex troubleshooting methods at the end of the article.

Printer prints only one page

So, if we start to deal with our problem, when the printer prints only one copy... There are several solutions to resolve this error. I will start with the most obvious and simple ones, and if this does not help you, then you can try to fix the problem in less obvious ways, which I will also talk about.

Changing the printer's print processor

Most often, it is enough to change the printer's print handler so that our printer starts printing the entire document again and stops ignoring the number of specified copies.

How do you change the printer's print engine?

After that, the problem should go away. If the error persists, go to the next step.

Disabling Mopier Mode

If your printer does not print multiple copies and prints only one page, then quite often this is due to the fact that the “Mopier” mode is enabled in the settings of your device. What is this mode and why is it used?

Mopier mode reduces the amount of network traffic between the computer and the printer. Thus, the computer does not send each copy of your document to the printer separately (for example, if you have 100 copies set, then each copy is sent to the printer as a separate “file”), but sends one copy of the document and “indicates” the required number of copies. However, such a document ultimately takes up a fairly large space in the memory of the printing device and sometimes this memory in a printer or MFP may simply not be enough. In this case the printer prints only one page of the document and ignores the rest. In this case, you must disable this mode.

How do you turn off Mopier mode?

It was this method that helped me cope with the problem I encountered. Many older printers have the sin of having a small amount of memory and therefore cannot print “bulky” documents with a large number of copies with the “Mopier” enabled. Also, this error can appear if you are using a print server (as in my case)

Clearing the printer's print queue

If the previous methods did not work for you and your printer still prints one page at a time, you can try clearing the printer's print queue. Usually it is found along this path:

% windir% \ System32 \ spool \ printers

i.e. usually this is the way C: \ WINDOWS \ System32 \ spool

You need to go to the folder and delete all files from it. Alternatively, you can download a bat file that will clear the printer's print queue by itself. You just need to run it as administrator and it will do the job for you.

Removing the Printer and Installing a New Driver

So the printer is still printing one copy at a time? Try removing the printer from Control Panel and installing the latest driver.

  • Go to "Control Panel", then "Devices and Printers", right-click on the icon of your printer and select "Uninstall"
  • Then download the driver for your printer from the manufacturer's website and install. For HP, you can download the “HP Universal Driver”
  • Install the driver and check if this action fixed your problem

Can't print multiple copies from Word

In addition to the methods listed by yours, here are some more tips that Microsoft gives if you can only print one copy from Office Word. How to enter the properties of the printer driver, I explained above in the text

  1. Disable background printing in Microsoft Word ("Word Options" - "Advanced" - "Print" - uncheck "Print in background"
  2. Disable the print queue in the properties of the printer driver (select the "Print directly to the printer" mode)
  3. Change the graphics mode from vector to raster in the properties of the printer driver
  4. Press CTRL + END to go to the end of the document. On the Insert tab, select Page Break to add a page break to your document. Add a blank page after the break (to do this, you can press Enter several times, placing the cursor after the break). It can also help if you need to print multiple copies and only one is printed.
  5. Install the latest printer driver from the manufacturer's official website

So, today we learned several ways that will get rid of the error when the printer prints only one page, prints one copy. Hope my article helped you get rid of this problem.

Often, office equipment users are faced with this type of problem: the printer prints only one copy. Those. in such a situation, no matter how many copies you set, the device will print the document in only one copy. Of course, if the printer does not print normally, you can resort to the services of professionals, but it is better to save money and try to find and fix the cause yourself. In addition, it will make you more experienced in operating your own office equipment.

So, if the device does not print multiple copies, then the problem may be that in the settings of your device there is a default mode called "Mopier". By itself, it is a mode that allows you to reduce all network traffic, sending only one copy with a specified number of prints to the machine instead of several copies. But it should be noted that for this purpose, the printing device must have a certain memory, which will allow it to store such jobs. But most printer models do not have it, and it is for this reason that the printer only prints one page. To bring the device back to normal, open its properties and click on "off" next to the "Mopier" mode.

In addition, if the printer prints only one instead of several copies, then a possible solution to this problem may lie in the need to change the print processor. To do this, open the properties of your printer again and go to the "Advanced" tab. There, change the model of your device, for example, HP to Microsoft. After that, the problem should go away.

But if the printer still prints only one page, then you can try reinstalling the drivers for your device - but this approach is unlikely to help solve the problem, but still this attempt is not torture. The source of the problem may also be an entry in the registry, i.e. a similar "glitch" is associated with the operating system installed on the PC. The fact is that a certain number of copies is set by default in the driver settings - this value must be written in the OS registry. Because the print was always "by default", then correct the unit indicated there to any other digit. As a result of such an action, the key will be changed in the registry, and then correct the value in the driver settings by one again. Thanks to this simple approach, the problem associated with printing only one copy by the printer will be solved.

In addition to all of the above, the problem may be related to the fact that you are using a driver from Microsoft Windows XP or an earlier version of this OS. Also, the registry key that stores the Word settings may be damaged, or your printer model does not support printing multiple copies.

Sometimes adding a blank page to the end of the document is enough to solve a problem. In addition, it is advisable to update the driver of your device.

Thus, with a competent and responsible approach, eliminating the above task is not so difficult as it might seem at first glance. In any case, you can use the services of professionals.

Today I will tell you about the next puzzle with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2013. Although this problem is often observed not only in the office, but also in other applications where there is print output. A user contacted me with the following problem: The printer does not print more than one copy, no matter how many copies are specified in the print settings .

For example, in Word:

In other words, the printer ignores the number of copies, or the printer only prints one copy (one copy). This is application independent. The number of copies is ignored both in MS Office (Word, Excel) and in Notepad, CorelDraw, WordPad, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, in browsers and in any Windows applications in general.

Cause:

This is not a software bug, but a problem with a specific printer and is caused by the Mopier mode enabled by default.

When Mopier is enabled, the printer prints multiple collated copies from a single job. Printing an original multiple times improves printer performance and reduces network traffic by sending a print job only once and storing it in the printer's RAM. The remainder of the copies are printed at the fastest print speed of the printer. Documents can be created, monitored, managed, and finalized from the desktop, skipping the photocopier step.

Printers support Mopier features as long as sufficient memory is installed in the printer (160MB DDR plus 32MB on formatter board). Mopier is enabled by default when Mopier Mode on the Device Settings tab is set to Enabled.

Many printer models do not have enough memory to enable Mopier mode and therefore only print one copy.

Solution:

Disable the "Mopier" mode in the printer properties: Printer -> "Printer properties" -> the "Device settings" tab -> in the parameters tree, open the "Installable add-ons" -> opposite the "Mopier mode" parameter -> select the "Off" value - > and save the changes made:

I tested this method of solving the problem on the HP LaserJet 1320 printer.

Faced the problem that the HP printer prints only one copy of a page, no matter how many copies are set in the settings when sending to print. It seems that the field with the setting, which indicates the number of copies of the document, is simply ignored by the printer (or its driver).

The printer uses the latest available version of the HP Universal Driver downloaded from the manufacturer's website, so there was no point in updating the printer driver.

Mopier Mode

If you open the content .prn file that the printer generates when sending to print, in the print settings you can see the following useful information (highlighted in yellow).

@PJL SET QTY = 2 number of copies
@PJL SET PROCESSINGBOUNDARY = MOPY MOPY mode

After searching on the HP forums, I found that the problem may be related to the mode enabled in the driver Mopier(stands for multiple original copy). This mode assumes a reduction in traffic between the computer and the printer, when, when printing several copies of pages, only one copy of the job and the QTY parameter, which specifies how many times a given job should be printed, is transmitted to the printer. But there is one thing BUT... For this mode to work correctly, the printer must have sufficient internal memory or hard disk space to store the job. Many of the younger models of HP printers (HP LaserJet 1160, HP 1200, HP 1320, and others) simply do not have such memory or it is not enough.

Therefore, the received job is immediately printed as a page is received from the computer, and the printer cannot print it again from its memory.

Disable Mopier Mode for an HP Printer

In this case, you need to disable Mopier mode.

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers-> open properties the right printer HP.
  2. Go to the tab Device Settings
  3. Scroll down and under Installable add-ons(Installable Options) find the item Mopier mode(Mopier Mode) and disable it (Off / Disabled)
  4. Save your changes.

After that, when sending multiple copies for printing, several identical jobs will be generated and sent over the network.

If your printer has an internal hard drive installed, but jobs from the local cache are not sent to print when Mopier mode is enabled, in the same section of printer settings, check if the option is disabled:

Printer Hard disk(Memory device) - Not installed(Not installed)

Turn it on.

Changing the printer's print processor

If turning off Mopier mode does not fix the problem of printing only one copy of a page, try changing the printer's print handler.

For this:

  1. In the printer properties, go to the tab Additionally(Advanced)
  2. Click on the button Print processor(Print Processor)
  3. In the list of print handlers, change the current processor from HP to the standard print processor from Microsoft - winprint
  4. Save changes
