Download program to remove admin password. How to reset forgotten account password in Windows? Selection and decryption of passwords

Hello! Today I decided to write one more small note and tell you about how to create a disk (flash drive) for password reset in Windows 7... This article will be like a continuation of the article about ““. Just after I wrote this article, a reader of my blog wrote to me that they say I need to tell you more about what you can do to make a password reset disk. And I try to listen to my readers :).

What is this disk for? Yes, just in case, what if you forget the password. And with it, you can reset your password and log in without any problems. So, if you decide to install protection, then it will not be superfluous to create such a password reset disk and hide it in a safe place, such as a safe :).

Creating such a disk in Windows 7 is not a problem, but the link to start the manager for creating this disk says. But as it turned out, in the process of creating this very disk, you can create a USB flash drive to reset the password. And what kind of floppy disks are now, you know :).

Therefore, we will create a USB flash drive. Most likely you should have an old 1-2 GB flash drive. But you can also use a working USB flash drive, your files will not be affected, just look to see if there is some free space on it. Just a few kilobytes.

A few nuances:

  1. A password reset disk (flash drive) is created for each account.
  2. If you have created several USB flash drives for password reset, then the last created USB flash drive will work.
  3. If you changed the password in your account, then you do not need to create a new reset disk, the old one will work.

How to create a password reset USB flash drive in Windows 7?

Open Start and click on your account photo.

Insert the USB flash drive into the computer, then, on the right, select.

A window will open in which we click "Next".

We select the USB flash drive we need, and click “Next”.

Enter the password for our account and click "Next".

The process of creating a flash drive will start, wait a little and click “Next”, and then “Finish”.

That's it, our flash drive to reset your account password is ready. I went to the flash drive to see what has changed there. I saw only one new file in the root of the flash userkey.psw. Hike, he is responsible for resetting the password.

How to reset Windows 7 login password?

Let me explain in words:

  1. When you need to enter a password when logging into the system, and you do not know it, then try logging in without entering a password. A button should appear "Reset the password"... Click on it
  2. Then insert the USB flash drive that we created to reset the password and click "Next"
  3. In the new window, if you want to set a new password, then enter it twice and a hint. And if you no longer want to use a password when logging into Windows 7, then leave all fields blank and click "Next". The password will be reset.

It seems to be all friends. Good luck and take care of the flash drive!

If you have forgotten or do not know the password for logging into the computer, then you can use a special bootable BootPass full disk on which there are several programs with which you can reset the Windows password or change the Windows 8 user password.

There are many different programs in the BootPass 4 boot disk, and below is a list in which only Windows 8 password reset or replacement programs are available.

For Window systems xp and below

  • Active @ Password Changer.
  • Windows Gate.
  • Paragon Password Cleaner.

For Window 7 and below systems

  • Reset Windows Password.
  • Elcomsoft System Recovery.
  • Windows key Enterprise.
  • Locksmith.
  • Recover My Pass.
  • Admin Pass Resetter.
  • [email protected] Password Changer.
  • Windows Password Killer.

For Window 8 and below systems

  • NTPWEdit.
  • Kon-Boot.
  • Password Reset.
  • Windows Key Enterprise.

Many of these programs can crack or change the Windows 8 administrator password, and some can even brute force the Windows password. Some of these programs can recover Windows 8 administrator password after spoofing or resetting it. Some of these programs can delete personal information about the account holder.

How to use BootPass

To use these programs from the BootPass disk in Windows 8, you need to write the BootPass image to a USB flash drive or disk, and for this you can use the program. When the flash drive or disk is ready, you need to insert something of them into the computer and turn it on (after setting the BIOS to start first from the floppy drive or from the USB port)

Boot disk main window

You will see a window with the names of the programs. Select the Windows 8 password reset utility called Kon-Boot v2.4 and press Enter on your keyboard.

We enter the windows system

Now wait a minute while the Windows password cracking software resets the password and all you have to do is log into Windows 8.1 by clicking on the arrow without entering the password. The system will start and now it will be possible to change the password on it, and if you do not change the password, then the next time you start the computer (without using a USB flash drive with the program), you will need to enter the password to enter the system.

If you needed a bootable (although optional) USB flash drive to reset your Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 password, in this guide you will find 2 ways to make such a drive and information on how to use it (as well as some limitations inherent in each of them) ... Separate tutorial: (using a simple bootable OS stick).

I also note that I have described the third option - an installation flash drive or disk with the Windows distribution kit can also be used to reset the password on an already installed system, which I wrote about in the article (should be suitable for all recent OS versions, starting with Windows 7) ...

I first successfully used the Online NT Password & Registry Editor utility about 10 years ago, and since then it has not lost its relevance, not forgetting to regularly update.

This free program can be placed on a bootable USB flash drive or disk and used to reset the local account password (and not only) Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 (as well as previous versions of OS from Microsoft). If you have one of the latest versions and at the same time you are using not a local, but an online Microsoft account to log in, using the Online NT Password & Registry Editor you can still get access to your computer by a workaround (I will also show you).

Warning: Resetting your password on systems that use EFS file encryption will render these files unreadable.

And now a guide on how to create a bootable USB flash drive for password reset and instructions on how to use it.

Note: if for some reason this method did not work, then you can download the ISO image of this utility and (using the SysLinux bootloader).

So, the USB drive is ready, connect it to the computer where you need to reset the password or get access to the system in another way (if you use a Microsoft account), install and proceed with the action.

After loading, on the first screen you will be prompted to select options (in most cases, you can simply press Enter without selecting anything. If in this case problems arise, then use one of the options by entering the specified parameters, for example, bootirqpoll(after that - pressing Enter) if errors related to IRQ occur.

The second screen will show a list of partitions in which the installed Windows were found. You need to indicate the number of this section (there are other options, the details of which I will not go into here, the one who uses them knows why without me. And ordinary users will not need them).

After the program makes sure that the necessary registry files are available in the selected Windows and the ability to write to the hard drive, you will be offered several options, of which we are interested in Password reset, which we select by entering 1 (one).

The fun begins on the next screen. You will see a table of users, whether they are administrators, and whether these accounts are locked out or involved. On the left side of the list are the RID numbers of each user. We select the desired one by entering the appropriate number and pressing Enter.

The next step allows us to choose several actions when entering the corresponding number:

  1. Reset the password of the selected user
  2. Unblock and enable the userWindows 8 and 10 with account Microsoft to get access to the computer - just in the previous step, select the hidden Administrator account and enable it using this item).
  3. Make the selected user an administrator.

If you do not select anything, then pressing Enter will return you to the user selection. So, to reset Windows password, select 1 and press Enter.

You will see information that the password has been reset and again the same menu that you saw in the previous step. To exit, press Enter, the next time you select - q, and finally, to save the changes made, enter y on request.

This completes the reset of the Windows password using the Online NT Password & Registry Editor bootable flash drive, you can remove it from the computer and press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart (and put the boot from the hard disk into the BIOS).

Passwords help protect your account on operating systems from unauthorized users. However, it also happens that they are forgotten, and it is not possible to get into the system from the administrator's account, and there is no installation media with you. In this case, you will have to reset the password using slightly non-standard methods.

Remove password from Windows 7 without installation media

If you can't download a password reset disk on Windows 7, you can use one of the methods below. Both involve solving the problem using system utilities. To do this, you do not need to download a Windows 7 password reset disk or a complete system image. However, it is recommended to strictly follow the instructions, since both methods involve working with the interface. "Consoles".

There is no need to try to reset the password on Windows 7 using third-party software, as this will entail certain problems.

Method 1: command line

This is the most versatile, simple and secure way to change Windows 7 password without knowing the old one. If necessary, you can later simply remove the new password from the operating system. To perform this method, you will need the ability to log into the OS interface, even if from a guest account. This is usually always the default.

The guest account has some limitations compared to the administrator account. By default, they apply to making any changes to the OS, for example, installing / removing programs, editing some documents, downloading content from the network. Restrictions on use "Command line" no by default.

The instructions for this method are as follows:

    1. Press the key combination Win + R.
    2. In the line that opens, enter cmd and click Enter.

    1. Will start "Command line"... First, you need to find out the number of users, their powers and logins in the operating system. To do this, enter the net user command and press Enter.

    1. A list of all operating system users is displayed. You need to find the login for the administrator account. This will be easy if the OS has only two accounts.
    2. Now write the command net user admin_name new_password. Example command: net user Admin 123456. Hit Enter.

  1. After applying the command, restart your computer and log into the administrator account with a new password.

Method 2: recovery menu

This method can be dangerous, as it involves disconnecting the computer from the power supply during operation. However, a single application should not cause much harm.

The bottom line is as follows:

    1. Restart your computer if it was turned on, or turn it on if it was turned off.
    2. When Windows starts booting, abruptly disable it. For example, press the power button or pull out the power cable.
    3. Then reconnect the power and turn on the PC.
    4. Instead of the standard Windows startup, the screen should start "Windows Error Recovery", that is, recovering from an error.
    5. You will be presented with several options for starting the operating system. Please select Launch Startup Repair... In the Russian-language edition it may be called "Start Boot Repair".

    1. The system will boot up. You may get a window asking for permission to restore the system ( "System Restore"). Cancel by clicking on "Cancel".

    1. A recovery error message appears. Click on item "View problem details".

    1. A text file with a description of the problem will be launched. Here you need to click on the item "File" in the top menu. From the drop-down list, click on the item "Open".

  1. Will open "Conductor" Windows with access to all system files. You need to navigate to the following path: C: \ Windows \ System32.
  2. Find and rename one of these files here utilman.exe or sethc.exe by adding bak or old to the name of one of them. If these files are not displayed in the explorer, then in the column "File type" put value "All files".
  3. Now find the file cmd.exe. Copy it and paste it in the same directory.
  4. Rename the copied file to "Utilman" or "Sethc"... No need to rename the file to "Utilman" if at the 10th step you added a postscript to the file "Sethc" and vice versa.
  5. You can close "Notebook" and press "Finish"... The system will then reboot.
  6. Wait for the Windows start screen to load and click on the icon "Special abilities" if renamed the file to "Utilman"... If you renamed it to "Sethc", then you need to press the key five times Shift.

This way you will have access to "Command line" without having any access to the system. In the interface "Consoles" you have to do the following:

    1. If you do not know the exact name of the administrator account, then enter the command net user. It will display all the data regarding the users of the system, including their status.

    1. Now write this command: net user Administrator record name new password. Example command, net user Admin 123456. Hit Enter.

  1. Restart your computer and try logging in with the new password you set.

The above methods help to reset the password on Windows 7 without using a disk with an OS image. However, it is recommended to create a system recovery image on a flash drive (installation disk) and reset through it.
