The choice of BP on visual signs is a guide. Glossary of the Terms: Power Supplies BP for Multimedia Computers of the Initial Level

Guide We disassembled in detail the main features of classic ATX power supplies. It's time to get acquainted with specific models. For a better understanding, we divided devices for five categories. Let's start with budget solutions for office computers, and we will finish the top gameimascular models.

Top system - top power supply!

Power Supplies for office computers

Power supplies for office equipment are very often built into the housings that are supplied. As a rule, the quality of such an integrated "feeder" depends on the quality of the Case itself. But we all perfectly understand that the office "workhorse" should be cheap and low-power. Below we offer to your attention the proven models that can be trusted.

LEPA N350-SB

This model was announced relatively recently. However, it is a certain interest for assemblers of inexpensive work computers. Despite the low price in the area of \u200b\u200b1000 rubles, the N350-SB has a very outstanding appearance in the style of sports cars. Of course, in a closed case it will not be seen, but any PC collector will appreciate it.

The device does not have an additional power cable PCI-E extension card, but it has all the necessary connectors, including three SATA connector. In principle, everything is logical, because the office PCs typically use the integrated graphics core of the processor to output the image.

We will not bypass the side of a quiet 120 mm fan with a hydraulic bearing, the use of which favorably affects the acoustic characteristics of the device. Cables are sufficient and suitable even for housings with the lower position of BP. We also note the high-quality assembly of the N350-SB as a whole and the use of competent schematic solutions.

FSP GROUP ATX-350PNR

Very popular and noticeably added the power supply recently. At a cost of about 900 rubles is one of the best budget BP. The appearance corresponds to its category, but there are no sharp corners and burrs. Very often it comes along with the system unit, as it has established itself only from a positive side. So, if you buy an ATX-350PNR when buying a built-in BP, consider you that you are big lucky.

FSP GROUP ATX-350PNR

The device is equipped with a 120 mm Yate Loon D12SM-12 fan. You can't call it absolutely quiet, but the level of noise published can be considered acceptable. Models with a stamped fan grid noisy more.

The universal printed circuit board is based on its 400 and 450 W power supplies.

In the primary chain there are all the necessary elements of the filter, the installation is made quite neatly. Electrolytic capacitors are manufactured by OST and TEAPO companies that are rare for this class of BP. Power connectors are quite enough to build inexpensively PC, although the length of the cables is not enough, but it is already quarry.

Enermax Triathlor Eta385Awt.

The last "subject" can definitely recommend wishing to assemble an economical computer, while not sparing funds on the "feeder". It immediately indicates the stated tire power + 12V, which actually corresponds to the nominal value of the entire BP. The + 12V line is divided into two virtual tires with a limit 20a. Of the important features, it is worth noting the presence of the connector for powering the video card. It is difficult to judge his acute need for a working PC, but this is an unconditional plus.

ENERMAX ETA385AWT.

The power supply is allowed to be installed in the housing with the lower location of the BP, the benefit of the wire length allows you to do this. An element base for this class is excellent, at the entrance there is a condenser 220 μF (400 V) made by Panasonic, in the secondary chain of "electrolytes" mainly from Nippon Chemi-Con. The only significant disadvantage, in our opinion, is the noise level with loads above 200 W. The manufacturer has over what to work.

In general, ETA385AWT has the right to exist and is essentially unique in its kind of power supply.

BP for multimedia enlarge-level computers

SEASONIC G-450

Why, if the conversation is coming about the entry-level PC, then he must consist of cheap components? No one bothers the user who wants to get a high-quality and stable computer, pay extra few thousand rubles.

The power supply complies with the standard 80 PLUS GOLD, the level of the efficiency of which does not fall below the 88% mark. The + 12V bus can transmit up to 37 A current, so the use of a discrete video card is clearly asking for the system. Another undoubted plus of the "feeders" we consider the presence of unfailed cables.

In the secondary chain, the manufacturer uses the latter generation DC-DC transducer circuitry with a total bus + 12V. Instead of straightening Schottki diodes, field transistors are used. Electrolytic capacitors in the primary and output chains are made by famous companies Nippon Chemi-Con and Rubycon. Polymer "barrels" are made by United Chemi-Con and Enesol. The level of pulsations and CNH (cross-loading characteristics) G-450 is in order.

The cooling system of the device provides a comfortable noise level, while the temperature of all nodes is within acceptable limits. In addition to all of the above, I would like to add that the warranty for this model is 5 years.

Corsair VS450.

Inexpensive and very high-quality power supply. If you consider the package, a set of connectors and the length of the cable, it is quite enough to build a system with a good processor and one discrete video card. We draw your attention that the power supply is non-module, so you should take care of the laying of the remaining "tail" in advance.

With an average cost of 1,600 rubles, the VS450 is equipped with a good element base. It does not have APFC, however, at such a low rated power it is not so critical. In the primary chain, all the necessary filtering and protective elements, most of the electrolytic capacitors are manufactured by Capxon. Installation is accurate, the quality of the soldering is neat. The output voltages have an acceptable level of ripples, while at various loads behave stably, although not perfect.

The device is completed with a 120 mm Yate Loon fan, providing good cooling quality with permissible acoustic characteristics. The noise from rotating blades becomes noticeable only at high loads.

THERMALTAKE LT-450P

Another representative of the budget category. Nothing supernatural is not, but has several advantages over competitors. Despite the low nominal power, it has all the necessary cables, and you will most likely not have to buy adapters.

THERMALTAKE LT-450P

BP is equipped with four SATA and five molex connectors, which is quite enough for modern standards. The motherboard power cable is covered with black braid, the remaining wires are not protected by anything. The length and distance between the connectors is suitable for laying in small MIDI-TOWER format enclosures.

Nevertheless, the greatest advantage of this power unit, in our opinion, is a good stabilization system even with a load of 400 W. Not every "feeder" in this price category can boast such results. The efficiency of the efficiency is at a mark not lower than 80%. But the level of the noise-published cooler is very noticeable.

As a result, 1,600 rubles you get a good power supply with stable voltage levels and a good elemental base.

Power Supplies for Middle Power Gaming Computers

AEROCOOL STRIKE-X 600W

For a well-saled cost, the buyer will receive a decent power supply. It cannot be said that it is deprived of some visible shortcomings, but it works out completely.

AEROCOOL STRIKE-X 600W

Aerocool in the Strike-X series applies a fairly high-quality element base, including condensers of the well-known TEAPO company. We are satisfied with the rather high quality of installation and soldering. A large 139-mm fan effectively cools the internal components, but at high speed it makes it necessary to know what should be borne in mind.

The power supply is equipped with APFC, has a certificate of 80 PLUS BRONZE, the + 12V bus is designed to load up to 50 A. Also fans of modding and gamers will like the unusual red-black color with the fan grille in the form of the letter "X".

Otherwise, BP is quite ordinary, using common circuitry solutions.

"Golden" power supply, by which we could not pass. The appearance of the V550 is made in restrained colors, although it looks very pretty and win-win. The power supply is partially modular, unfuffering cables have a flat profile, which facilitates their gasket in the case and favorably affects air circulation.

Cooler Master V550 Semi-Modular

By the way, the OEM manufacturer of this BP is Seasonic. The circuitry solutions led to shortening conductive lines, additional fees are directly soldered to the main PCB, which reduces the level of interference. Based on BP on a modern resonant LLC-inverter.

The APFC input capacitor is made by Hitachi, and the polymer and electrolytic secondary lines are manufactured by TEAPO.

The power supply demonstrates a good stabilization coefficient, a small interference level, as well as decent acoustic characteristics in the entire load range.

Chieftec BPS-500S2

The last representative considered by us can attract a potential buyer a very pleasant price. The power supply complies with the standard 80 Plus Bronze, that is, the efficiency does not fall below 85%. Also in the design of the BPS-500S2 applies APFC. Unfortunately, BP is uncommown, but if desired, most of the cables will most likely be used. Considering the length of the wires, the BPS-500S2 is best suited for installation in small housings with the lower power supply.

Chieftec BPS-500S2

The element base is pretty good at such a price. By the way, Chieftec has never been trimmed in an unfair layout.

The device is equipped with a 120 mm fan, the noise from which the calibration was low. It is also noticed that even at high loads, the temperature of the internal components is within acceptable limits, which indicates the qualitative work of the cooling system and relatively low electrical losses.

ENERMAX REVOLUTION87 + 650W

Since the release of this model has passed almost a year, but it is still relevant and popular. Immediately it is worth noting that Revolution87 + 650W is a partially modular power supply. The power cables of the motherboard and the processor are not disgusted, which, however, does not deliver any inconvenience.

ENERMAX REVOLUTION87 + 650W

"Feeding" is completed with four 6 + 2 PIN connectors for connecting PCI-E-devices. Such a number of ports allows you to connect two high-level video cards. Wire lengths enough for laying in medium-sized enclosures.

The power supply complies with the standard 80 PLUS GOLD, and the power factor is approaching 0.99. Excellent features! Tire + 12V has three subcanal lines with a current limitation for each 25 A. The total load capacity of + 12V is 648 W, which practically corresponds to the nominal bp.

Revolution87 + 650W is equipped with a 139-mm fan produced by Twister Bearing technology that guarantees quiet and durable work.

The power supply has an excellent component base using modern technologies. It remains to add that a five-year warranty is distributed on Revolution87 + 650W.

Corsair CX750M 750W.

The main advantage of this power unit is definitely its value. For 3900 rubles, it's hard to find a power plant that is capable of issuing more than 600 W energy if there is an 80 Plus Bronze certificate.

CX750m is partially modular, which can also be considered a certain plus. And the cable lengths are enough even for laying in some Full-Tower enclosures. Disgrunting wires have a flat profile, which is especially important to reduce air flow overlapping areas. Given the number of all kinds of connectors, the CX750M can easily become the basis of the system with two high-performance video cards.

Thanks to the use of high-quality components, Corsair engineers managed to maintain small sizes and weight with relatively high power supply. An important factor in its favor is a good stabilization of output voltages at various levels of load, as well as low amplitude of ripples.

The only, in our opinion, a more or less noticeable disadvantage can be considered the noise level during loads above 500 W.

Chieftec GPM-850C 850W

Another curious model from Chieftec. The device is certified according to 80 Plus Gold. There is a whole necessary set of connectors. Including to build SLI / CrossFire arrays. However, it should be noted that the length of the cables is not the most acceptable.

Chieftec GPM-850C

The element base in GPM-850C is far from outstanding, but quite good for its value. The secondary chain is based on a modern synchronous rectifier using DC-DC converters for lines + 3.3V and + 5V. On the board of modular connectors, polymer capacitors are placed. The rest are electrolytic, produced by very well-known companies.

GPM-850C perfectly copes even with overclocked High-END components, while the temperature of the internal components is within the permissible. And all this "good" is offered in retail on average for 4,300 rubles.

Zalman ZM650-XG

"Golden" power supply. One of the representatives of the Goldrock line. The device is perfect for assembling a productive gaming system. Power supply - modular. The wires have sufficient length for laying even in large buildings, however, for highly high "towers", the CPU cable extension can be required.

First of all, the standard describes the requirements for the input voltage of the power network with which the power supply must operate.

In practice, almost all manufacturers of power supplies in recent years have mastered the schemes with active power factor correction (Active PF Correction), which allows you to create models for alternating input voltage of any power network of the world, in the range from 90V to 260 V. The required requirement of the standard is the presence of input protection BP circuits from current overload, for which the mandatory presence of a fuse is prescribed.

The basic specifications of the ATX standard define the requirements for both main power supply voltages, + 3.3V, + 5V and + 12V and to the auxiliary power tires, -12B and + 5VSB (Standby). In the first of their editions, the ATX standard also described the requirements for the bus -5B, since this voltage was required to power the ISA bus, but after the ISA tire disappear, the requirements for this voltage were removed from the ATX standard.

Initially, in the list of mandatory tires and power connections, the ATX standard prescribed the mandatory presence of a 20-pin connector for nutrition of motherboards, however, with time, as components are complicated, the nutritional requirements increased and became more rigging, and the ATX12V standard in the 2.x standard Prescribes the presence of two motherboard power connections: the main 24-pin (advanced 20-pin version) and an additional 4-pin to power the central processor.

This is how the basement of the modern 24-pin motherboard power board is described according to ATX12V versions 2.x.

Contact 20 can be used in ATX and ATX12V versions 1.2 and older, to power the -5VDC tire (white). In version 1.2, this contact disappeared, and from version 1.3 it is prohibited.

Separate description deserve four contacts to which special functions are assigned:

  • 8 contact - PWR._ OK., or " PowerGood."- the output signal of the power supply signal, signaling the final stabilization of the output voltage and the availability of BP to stable operation. Typically, the signal remains low for 100-500 ms after the" ground "signal PS_ON #.
  • 16 contact - PS._ ON.# , or " PowerON."- Signal 5-volt contact. When the contact from the system board is connected to the general wire (" ground "), the power supply is turned on.
  • 9 contact - +5 VSB., or " +5 V.standby."-Churday voltage remains even after disconnecting the power supply. It is necessary to power the schemes controlling the" POWER ON "signal.
  • 13 Contact - Power supply + 3.3V, ( +3.3 V.sense.) - connects to the bus + 3.3V motherboard or its power connector, allows you to detect the drop in the supply voltage remotely.

One of the most important parameters governed by the standard is the stability of the output voltage provided by the power supply, as well as residual pulsations present in the output constant voltage. It is from these parameters that manufacturers are repelled when designing conversion chains, stabilization and filtering of stresses required to power the components of motherboards.

For key supply voltages, the variation of the supply voltages should not exceed ± 5% of the nominal loading range. For less critical stresses, the variation of about ± 10% of the rated voltage is allowed. The table below shows the requirements for the allowable voltage deviation and maximum output ripples.

Tire

Deviation

Pulsation (max. Amplitude)

4,75V - + 5,25V

10.8V - -13,2V.

± 5% (± 0.165V)

3,135V - + 3,465V

4,75V - + 5,25V

Of course, than the deviation of the supply voltages from the nominal less, the more stable work can be expected from the system as a whole. Some BP manufacturers even declare the deviation of the basic voltages no more than ± 3% in the entire range of permissible loads. This is not normalized by the standard, but at the same time, talks about the very high quality of this product.

In addition, the standard also describes the cross-loading requirements of tires + 5V and + 3.3V, depending on the load + 12V tires for several typical configurations - 250 W, 300 W, 350 W, 400 W and 450 W. For example, it looks like a cross-load chart for 450 W configuration:

As already noted above, starting with the ATX12V version 2.0, the main power board connector has turned into a 24-pin, while maintaining backward compatibility with the previous 20-pin design, with additional four contacts provide meals + 3.3V, + 5V and + 12V. In addition, in this version of the standard, an additional 6-pin AUX power connector that appeared in ATX12V versions 1.x was abolished, since the additional power bus + 3.3V and + 5V were integrated into a 24-pin connector.

The main supply voltage of the system from this point on (February 2003) Tires + 12V are considered, so the standard since that time determines the need for at least two tires + 12V (12V2 for 4-pin CPU power connector and 12V1 for the rest), with independent protection from Current overload for each channel. In practice, the most powerful power supplies have since started acquiring a large number of tires + 12V, however, the standard requires a mandatory at least two such tires.

In connection with the growth of "liability" tire + 12V, the requirements of power to tires + 3.3V and + 5V were reduced. In addition, starting with this version, the presence of the power of the Serial ATA devices has become a compulsory requirement.

In ATX12V version 2.01, the standard finally got rid of the Tire -5B, and the next revision, ATX12V v2.1, required the mandatory presence of a 6-pin power connector for PCIE graphic cards, since the PCIE slot appeared on motherboards, which required the power supply to 75 W. In ATX12V version 2.2, a requirement was added to the mandatory presence of an 8-pin connector for powering PCIE cards, providing a load to 150 W.

Regarding the triggering threshold, the following requirements are taken:

Protection against short circuit prescribes mandatory response when the chain resistance is less than 0.1 Ohms, while the power supply must turn off.

In terms of noise characteristics, the standard prescribes the restriction of acoustic noise by the level of no more than 40 dB.

According to the generally accepted definition, the computer power supply is a power component of the system that provides the remaining PC elements. From the point of view of circuitry, BP is a module for transforming an AC power of 100-127B (USA, Japan and Taiwan, as well as in South America) or 220-240V (Europe and most other countries of the world) in constant current with levels Voltages acceptable to power computer components.

The power supply is only one of the components of the computer system, therefore its key characteristics are determined as one of the numerous recommendations for systems of a certain form factor, and not vice versa. For example, it is the standard ATX (Advanced Technology Extended), developed by Intel in 1995, determines the dimensions and other characteristics of the power supply, and non-BP defines the form of ATX systems.

Initially, the power supplies designed to work in desktop computer systems are mostly calculated according to the requirements of the ATX12V standard. So it was up to the version of the standard ATX12 V. 2.2 (issued in March 2005), after which it was decided to combine in a single document Requirements for all generally accepted desktop platform form factors, including CFX12V, LFX12V, ATX12V, SFX12V and TFX12V. Over time, a document appeared " Design.GuideforDesktop.Platform.FormFactors., Revision 1.1 "(March 2007), relevant to this day.

For reference: Computer Forms are determined mainly by the format of system boards, the dimensions of some of them are shown below millimeters:

  • WTX - 356x425
  • AT - 350х305
  • Baby-at - 330x216
  • BTX- 325x266
  • ATX-305x244.
  • LPX - 330x229
  • microbtx - 264x267
  • microATX - 244x244.
  • microatx (minimum) - 171x171
  • Flexatx - 229x191
  • MINI-ITX - 170x170
  • Nano-ITX - 120x120
  • Pico-ITX - 100x72
  • PC / 104 (-plus) - 96x90
  • mobile-ITX - 60x60

Thus, if you see a mention of "compliance with the ATX12V 2.3 standard compliance with the power supply unit, keep in mind that there is no such document in nature. The latter, separately submitted by the document was ATX12V 2.2, and the marking of the version "2.3" means compliance with the requirements of subparagraph "ATX12V SPECIFIC GUIDELINES 2.3" in the above-mentioned document on the design of desktop platform design, version 1.1, general for all desktop factors.

Despite the fact that ATX12V is only a subset among other PC form factors, speaking of desktop systems, we usually mean this particular standard. If, of course, there is not talking about miniature "commerce to TV" to view video, compact office machines, server systems and other special cases that do not fit into the definition of a home or gaming desktop system. Today we are talking about ATX12V power blocks.

It should also be noted that the publication of new standards for power supplies does not cancel previous recommendations and requirements, and, as a rule, only tightens them. Therefore, today we will study the ATX12V 2.2 standard, and in addition to it "ATX12V Specific Guidelines 2.3" from the document "Design Guide for Desktop Platform Form Factors, Revision 1.1".

The requirements of these documents can be called sufficient to select a BP model suitable for the design of the system as a whole, but if we talk about the design of a modern system, to compulsory consideration it is necessary to adopt at least one document - 80Plus recommendations.

And that's why.

One way or another, a portion of the power supply to the PC is dissipated directly by the power supply to the process of its operation. For example, the total energy consumption of the system of about 500 W and the efficiency of the level of the level of 75% in practice means that BP spends a quarter of energy consumed. About 125 W - And this is the power of a decent soldering iron, leave the BP on "heated" himself! If the BP has a higher efficiency - say, 87%, the cost of payment of electricity, as well as cooling the system, can be significantly reduced.

Another interesting example. Suppose you planned to buy a power supply "with a stock". Little ... The choice fell on the block of kilodatt power. The stock pocket does not pull? Maybe, but not in the case of power supplies. Imagine how the "lead" a power supply of 1 kW in the system, the maximum load of which even at the peak does not exceed 500 W, from force - 600 W. A rare modern system - even on a 6-nuclear processor and a pair of powerful video cards, consumes greater power.

A VP Series in the Anteck directory of the entry level power supply, and VP700P with a value of 700 W - the most powerful one. But the initial level does not mean low. If you focus on the data provided by the manufacturer, then all the necessary qualities at the ANTEC VP700P in stock: a two-year warranty, a small but sufficient set of connectors, active PFC. The device corresponds to the ATX12V 2.4 specification, according to which BP should provide stable operation at extremely low load on the + 12V bus. Such a requirement arose due to the advent of low-voltage modes C6 / C7 in Haswell processors, in which the current of the current on the CPU drops to 0.05 A.

The block does not have a certificate of 80 Plus, although it can be said that according to the declared efficiency of 88%, the device satisfies the Bronze category. The reason is simple: to match any 80 Plus, the ability to operate in networks with a voltage of 110 B is required, which for simplifying the ANTEC VP700P schemes is deprived. The only thing that confuses: the manufacturer only indicated the maximum efficiency of the efficiency. How things are in reality - we will check in tests.

Most of the power belongs to two lines + 12V - 636 W in the aggregate. In this case, the load on each of them separately cannot exceed 35 A.

The average cost of ANTEC VP700P in Moscow online stores is 3.5 thousand rubles. It is a bit for a capacity of 700 W: For less than the amounts are mainly sold, various NO-NAMEs or products recognizable, but not too well-deserved in the market sources of power supply manufacturers.

⇡ Delivery set, design

The only neighbor of Antec VP700P in its simple and compact package is a power cable. Well, what else do you need from PB, if you do not want to overpay?

Antec VP700P: "Cellular" rear panel is well blowing

The block itself is performed in the unpretentious design housing. Cables come out of BP with a single beam: 24-pin "hose" in a decorative braid, the rest - as it is. A set of connectors:

  • 1x24 (20 + 4) contact;
  • 1x8 (4 + 4) contacts (CPU power);
  • 4x8 (6 + 2) contacts (optional PCIE fees);
  • 6 x SATA;
  • 4 x molex;
  • 1 x floppy.

⇡ Internal device

BP components are cooled by a 120 mm sizzy fan. The manufacturer - Yate Loon, model - D12SH-12 (sliding bearing, the maximum speed of rotation of the impeller is 2200 rpm).

Antec VP700P: Connecting a cooler to the board is performed by two wires.

The fee (produced by FSP) has a very "old school" scheme engineering, which are noticeable traces of savings on components, but without explicit hack. As the outside, inside the Antec VP700P is present everything you need. The quality of assembly and soldering - without a bitch without a zadyrinka.

Antec VP700P: In the active PFC scheme, the Capxon Condenser is used

The inlet uses a two-bond filter of electromagnetic interference of the simplest, but quite sufficient design. There is a fuse and a varistor that protects the device from short-term voltage bursts.

The rectifier is assembled from individual diodes with a nominal value of 3 A, which in the aggregate gives the power limit at the inlet of 1380 W at a voltage of the network 230 V. It is bad only that, in contrast to integrated rectifiers, which are used in more expensive BPs, the diodes are not equipped with a radiator. Recall once again that the ANTEC VP700P can only work on networks with a voltage of 200-240 V. Support 110V climbed in order to save.

Antec VP700P: The first pair of capacitors CY input filter is dispersed on the power connector contacts

The voltage converter is built by a common sector topology with two key transistors (TWO-Switch Forward). The transformer has two secondary windings for tires 12 and 5 V - in contrast to BP with a more modern device, which use a single secondary winding in combination with DC-DC converters for voltage output 5 and 3.3 V. Voltage 3.3 V, taken with The same winding as 5 V, by means of a scheme with a saturated choke (Magamp).

Rectifiers in three tires use paired assemblies of Schottky diodes. Synchronous rectifiers on field transistors having a higher efficiency remain prerogative more expensive BP. The 12 bus tire is equipped with four buildings in parallel connections, two others got one. The pulsation filter on each bus is replicated and the only electrolytic condenser produced by the same Capxon capacity of 1000 μF. Here, Antec was very praised: at least twice the capacitors are used in more expensive models, as a rule, several pieces on the tire are used.

The phenomenon of two lines of 12 V, which are declared in block specifications, is reduced to the fact that the wire bundle for powering the CPU has a filter separate from the rest. In addition, it is possible that the second tire is equipped with one of the four channels of the Silicon Touch PS229 monitoring chip, which provides protection against critical / high voltage on tires and excess current in the load.

ANTEC VP700P: Capxon Capacitors with a capacity of 1000 μF in secondary circuit filters

Tire 5 V has no additional stabilizer in addition to the group stabilization throttle, which serves three main tires together. Tire 3.3 V is equipped with its stabilizer on a saturated choke. Therefore, on the perfect stabilization of stresses with the load, peashed to one or another tire, it is not necessary to calculate. True, there are such a load, say softly, infrequently.

⇡ Testing technique

Since our last articles on the power blocks, the test method used in the 3DNews laboratory has not changed. You can familiarize yourself with it in full, for example, in this article. The graph, which is based on the results of the study of the efficiency of the test power supplies, contains reference indicators according to the standards of the 80 Plus family.

Test results

The test with a combined load is best transferred to the bus 12 V. with any current ratio between the tires 12 V and 5 / 3.3 in the voltage on it remain within the limits allowed by the ATX standard (deviation no more than 5%). Not perfect, but quite acceptable result.

But further - a pleasant surprise: Antec VP700P unexpectedly for its modest positioning showed an efficiency of 88% by the manufacturer with a capacity of 700 W, and with a reduced load, this indicator reaches 94% at all. Only at 10% of the power there is a failure of graphics up to 78%.

⇡ Conclusions

The manufacturer pretty saved both on external signs and in the block circuitry, but nothing really necessary for BP has lost and in the tests performed much better than it could be expected. The capacity of the block is quite enough for a powerful computer with one or even two, but not voracious, graphic cards.

From the claim characteristics, the claims arose only to the stabilization of the tires of 5 V and 3.3 V, but in the modern computer, they are unlikely to be loaded so much so that the stresses come over for the permissible framework. In addition, in the block, weak pulsation filters, although it is manifested in practice - we did not check.

The most important thing is that with the preservation of normal stresses on all ANTEC VP700P tires, it produces power close to the nominal, and does not have any blatant flaws in circuitry. For such a small cost, this is already very good. In the end, the inexpensive BP rarely fall into the focus of the attention of test laboratories, and in relation to Antec VP700P it is now known that it can be expected from him, and which is not worth it.
