Every newly minted and professional musician recording songs at home needs a program specially designed to change the key of a song, which today can be downloaded for free under Windows 7 or 8, which we will tell you about later. As you can understand from the above sentence, we are talking about a computer application in which even an inexperienced musician can significantly change the tonal level with a minimum of time. The only difficulty in this case may be the user's choice of an application from among those that satisfy these requirements, having all the necessary advantages in this regard.

So, among the modern programs that are suitable in a certain way for easily changing the musical key by a user who has tried on the role of a composer, the leading place in popularity is occupied by "Pitch Shift", which we advise to download from the links below. With this convenient and easy-to-use program, originally designed to change the key of songs on a computer, after downloading and installing, you can achieve a variety of tasks and goals, no matter how demanding they are. It is only important to make some custom settings in the application so that the goal you achieve becomes as accessible and understandable as possible in your understanding.

For beginners who are just starting to write compositions, there is literally nothing better than this application. Given the support of the program for changing the key with the non-commercial name already known to you, all existing formats and extensions, after free download it can also guarantee the ease of working with any other audio material for the improvement of other indicators such as bit rate. The main thing, in my opinion, is not to look for alternatives to the application we are announcing today, because, you see, no analogue has such an impressive range of positive advantages as this application does.

A program for changing the musical key called "mp3pitcha" tried to make this product little competition, which guarantees, after downloading, ordinary users to work with a single extension and format, however, this is a completely different story for conversation.

In conclusion, omitting some details and details, I want to say that whatever music program you use to change the key, it would be best to download it from our website, which guarantees not only a high download speed of the distribution kit, but also a complete absence of advertising. Disguise the gender in the interview through voice modulator

  • Personnel Management ,
  • Career in the IT industry

Many copies are broken due to gender inequality in IT: there are much more male programmers than women. This fact is confirmed by stereotyped perceptions, and numerous studies, etc.

The salary of female programmers is, on average, less than that of men. Why is this happening? The standard answer is because of gender discrimination. They say that programming is considered a "non-feminine" profession, therefore, already at the stage of the interview, women are prejudiced. It is believed that in the workplace they are also treated differently: the requirements are lower, the salary is lower.

Interviewing.io conducted an interesting experiment with masking gender in interviews - and tested how it affects the results.

According to Glassdoor statistics, the difference in salaries between men and women exists in all professions, but it is the worst in IT. The difference between the salaries of men and women is on average 28.3%.

Within IT, the largest salary gap is observed in the development of scientific software and programming for mainframes. Some might say that in the latter case, having a beard raises wages - and there really is such a correlation!

There is a very big gender difference in other areas of IT, which are traditionally considered "boy clubs". In developing computer games women are paid 15.8% less, information security - 14.7%.

So what's the reason?

The Interviewing.io experience

Users of the Interviewing.io project anonymously practice technical interviews - something like Chatroulette for programmers. The site even promises to find a job based on the results of virtual interviews. So far, free access is closed, registration is on a first come, first served basis.

The interview takes place on the website. The job seeker and employer meet in a collaborative programming environment, with voice and text chat and a kind of whiteboard. Acting as an employer sees on the screen everything that the virtual job seeker types in the editor. The two parties communicate. After each interview, the employer gives a grade according to several parameters:

  • Would you hire this candidate? Well no
  • Assessment technical level: from 1 to 4
  • Problem solving ability score: 1 to 4
  • Communication ability: 1 to 4
  • Separate column for sending a comment to the applicant
The service is only a few months old, but over a thousand interviews have already been conducted. You can see the expected patterns. Women perform worse at interviews than men. Men go to the next round of interviews 40% more often. In technical assessment, their average result is 3 points versus 2.5 points for women.

Experiment

Could it be because interviewers prefer men and women programmers are not taken seriously? To test this assumption on the Interviewing.io voice modulator to "change the gender" of the candidate during the interview.

In total, 234 candidates took part in the experiment, of which about one third were women and two thirds were men. To maintain the maximum purity of the experiment, all participants were warned that during the interview their voice could be changed, and asked not to reveal their real gender in any way. Each participant was assigned to one of three categories:

  1. Voice did not change (control group)
  2. Modulation without changing the pitch
  3. Modulation with a change in pitch ("gender change")
The second group is necessary for the purity of the experiment, because the work of the modulator is not as ideal as we would like. In voice chat, you can hear if the person has a real or "synthetic" voice. If it were not for the second group, then the employer notified of the experiment could understand that every synthetic male voice is in fact a woman, and vice versa. And if you modulate voices of male / female frequencies with a probability of 50 to 50, then the very fact of modulation does not mean anything.

How did the results of the interview change after masking the gender?

The result was the opposite of what the experimenters expected. It turned out that the disguise of the floor does not affect the results of the interview in any way... Even after masking their voices, women continued to show worse results, and men still found it easier to proceed to the next stage of the interview.

On the contrary, a reverse trend emerged. Men with modulated female voices were marginally better than men without modulation. Women with male voices were marginally worse than women without modulation.

Researchers cannot explain this strange phenomenon. They only indicated that women are more likely than men to give up, refusing to repeat interviews after failure. But these statistics still do not fully explain why, even with a male voice, women are given worse marks for technical abilities. And it is even more incomprehensible why men improve their performance after changing their voice to a higher-frequency female one.

It can be assumed that people are so good at recognizing gender by voice that no modulator is able to create 100% masking. Perhaps it is in the use of certain vocabulary, in the construction of sentences, in the rate of speech and pauses. And this, by the way, explains the effect when men with modulated voices get more advantages - the interviewer feels a catch and subconsciously overestimates (guided by the same stereotypes) the result of a man who was made to look like a woman.

Failures wear out women's assertiveness much faster than men. And how many such difficulties will lie ahead throughout the entire career of a programmer, from university studies to a series of unsuccessful interviews?

It seems that the difference in interview results and, therefore, in salary levels is not due to bias of employers at all, but something else. Perhaps gender discrimination does not exist at all? Much research remains to be done in this area.

More women in IT

Despite the conflicting results of various studies, the largest IT companies in the world are aiming to hire more programmers from minorities, including women, on the staff. The ideal situation is when there are exactly the same number of women in the company as there are men. This goal is based on the assumption that if the bias is eliminated during the interview, then the percentage of men and women should be about 50 to 50. Without questioning this thesis, some companies diligently increase the female presence - and periodically report on success.

In May 2014, Google became one of the first companies in Silicon Valley to dare to publish honest numbers on gender equality. According to Google statistics, women made up 30% of the state. This result is above the average - for all computer specialties in the United States, this figure is only
