Good day to all! Today we are going to learn how to change the color of an object. Sometimes it becomes necessary to change the color of the clothes in the photo to highlight some details. This very useful skill will be very useful to you, since replacing colors at the object allows you to refresh your work, give it originality. Everything is simple and today there will be different examples in the issue.

There are several ways to change the color of an object. We will consider them. The first way is to use the built-in color change function, or color replacement. Let's get to know him first. As usual, load the image and duplicate the layer. Next, open the top menu "Image" - "Correction" - "Replace color".

A window will open in front of us, in which you need to select the color to replace and the color that will be instead of it.

Let's start with the fact that in the first line we put a tick (if not checked) on the localized color sets. These are the standard colors available in the program. Next, select the color that we change, for example, the red color of an insect. Click on the eyedropper (the first of three icons) and click with the eyedropper on the body of the insect in the square window below.

At the same time, a replaceable shade will appear in the window with the name of the color. Please note that the next line is “scatter. You can put on "maximum". The larger this parameter, the more it will capture colors. At the bottom of the window, options for color replacement are shown.

You can use the slider, moving it from right to left, choosing a color, or you can immediately click on the colored square and in the color selection window that appears, set the desired one, for example, blue. Next, adjust the saturation of this color and brightness with the sliders. Having done all this, click OK and get the result:

The ladybug went from red to blue. The second color change option is a bit similar to the first, but the operations are carried out differently. This procedure can be called selection by color. Earlier we talked about tuning cars, so let's take a car as an example. Load the picture and go back to the top menu "Selection" - "Color Range".

A window slightly similar to the previous one will open in front of us. We also set the spread to the maximum, and with the Eyedropper we press on the red color of the car. It turned white in the viewport.

Having done all the necessary operations, click OK and, as a result, we get a picture of the car, on which the red color is highlighted by a dashed flickering line. We have achieved that only the necessary areas of the picture of a certain color were selected. And we did not resort to classic selection tools such as "Lasso" and others.

Now go to Image> Adjustments> Hue / Saturation.

The settings window will open. In the line "Toning" put a check mark. Next, select the desired color tone with the slider. In my version - green. Adjust brightness and saturation as you like.

When you have reached the desired option, click OK. After that, deselect and get the result. The car went from red to green. If this color does not suit you, we do the same step by step, but choose a different color.

Change the color of the object to white

In this example, paint the object white. Let's take the same red car as an example and paint it white. First, let's go to layers - a new adjustment layer - black and white.

As a result, a new layer will appear and a window for adjusting it will open.

Here we move the sliders, especially the top red one, since the car was red, until we get the desired result.

How do I change the color of an object in Photoshop?

You can also change the color of an object by creating a template or swatch of the desired color. Create a new window in the program, in which we paint the background in the desired color, for example, blue.

Next, go to the picture that needs to be recolored. Here we select a selection - a color range. Now, with the eyedropper, click on the color to change. Use the eyedropper with the + sign to add the selection and click OK. If, as a result, not only the desired object, but also the neighboring areas is highlighted, we do it as follows.

Select the lasso tool, and from the top menu use the buttons add to the selected area and subtract from the selected area.

Use the lasso tool to outline unnecessary areas (when the button is activated, subtract from the selected area). As a result, unnecessary areas will be removed.

Having made the necessary manipulations in this way, we will get the desired selection, namely a clearly red car.

Go to the image - correction - pick up the color.

A window will open in front of us.

Here you must first open the drop-down menu source and select a picture with the created blue color in it. It will appear in the window next to it.

At the same time, the color of the car will also change. Now by moving the luminosity, color intensity and weakening sliders, we find the desired color option

After you get the desired result, click OK, deselect. The picture has changed color. Well, for clarity, a short video in which, using the Eyedropper and Gradient tools, the sky above the head of the girl on the beach is recoloured.

Replace the color of an object with the Eyedropper tool

Above, we talked about how to change the color from the sample. In the described variant, the created Photoshop document template was used. However, you can select the color to change in the edited picture itself. To do this, there is the eyedropper tool, which is located on the toolbar (sixth from the top).

If you need to create a color scheme that will be the same as that of the image, then the eyedropper is just for this. Having selected the eyedropper, you need to click on the desired color and it will immediately appear in the box for choosing the main color. If you do not click the mouse button, but hold it down, we will see that a sample ring has formed around the pipette.

If you move the cursor with an eyedropper over the picture, we will see how the color changes on the ring. The upper part shows the selected color, and the lower one, which was originally. So, these are the actions with the eyedropper tool. Now how to use it to change the color of the object. To do this, you will need to perform a number of operations. The first is to select the part of the picture, the color of which needs to be changed. For example, in a photo with a red car, you need to repaint the side mirror in one of the color schemes of the entire picture. For example, let's take black for the bumper.

Select the quick selection tool or whatever is more convenient for you and select the area. Since the object is not complex in the example, I used a magnetic lasso.

Now select the eyedropper tool, click on the black color of the bumper and see that the desired one has appeared in the square of the main color.

The result, of course, is not the same as in the options described earlier, but if you work on correcting the resulting image, you can achieve more realistic results.

The first way to replace a color is to use the ready-made function in Photoshop "Replace Color" or Replace Color in English.

I will show you with the simplest example, with a simple picture. Let's take an icon and open it in Photoshop.

The trowel on the icon is yellow. We will replace yellow with any other color that interests us. To do this, go to the menu Image - Correction - Replace color (Image - Adjustments - Replace Color)

The color swap function dialog box appears. Now we need to indicate what color we will change, for this, activate the Eyedropper tool (see the arrow) and click on the trowel with it. You will see this color displayed in the dialog box at the top, which is titled Selection.

At the bottom is the Replacement heading - there you can change the selected color. But first, you can set the Spread in selection parameter. The larger the parameter, the more it will capture colors. In this case, you can bet on the maximum. It will capture all the yellow in the image.

Adjust the Replace color settings - the color you want to see instead of the replaced one. I made it green with Hue, Saturation and Brightness.

When you're ready to replace the color, click OK.

The second way, according to the scheme of work, can be said to be identical to the first. But we will look at it in a more difficult image.

For example, I chose a photo with a car. Now I will show you how to change the color of a car in Photoshop.

As always, we need to specify which color we will replace. To do this, you can create a selection using the color range function. In other words, highlight the image by color.

To do this, go to the menu Selection - Color Range (Select - Color Range)

Next, it remains to click on the red color of the car and we will see the function that determined it - by painting it with white in the preview window. The white color shows which part of the image is highlighted. The spread in this case can be adjusted to the maximum value. Click OK.

After you click OK, you will see how the selection is created:

Now you can change the color of the selected image. To do this, use the function - Image - Correction - Hue / Saturation (Image - Adjustments - Hue / Saturation)

Naturally, you can take a picture of the product in all colors, but there is not always such an opportunity, and it is necessary to show the entire assortment. You won't be able to recolor complex objects with a brush, since this method does not allow you to convey, for example, the texture of clothes or all the glare on the body of a car. Well, stop pouring water, let's get started!

Change color on contrasting objects

First, just in case, we need to copy the layer with the image so as not to spoil it and accidentally save it. To do this, click on the layer with the photo and press the keyboard shortcut ctrl+ j. Here we will work with this layer:
Now we need to create an adjustment layer. To do this, click on the button "Create a new adjustment layer", which you will find at the bottom of the panel with layers, and in the list that appears, select the item "Hue / Saturation ...".

Change the colors of the object to any others

There are dozens of ways to change color in Adobe Photoshop. The easiest and fastest is to use the special command Replace color or “Replace color”. This function is convenient to use when working with any object in the photograph. Also, this command is useful when replacing the color of several small details that are randomly scattered throughout the image. This article provides detailed step-by-step instructions for completing this simple task.

Open the image in Photoshop. Duplicate the main layer. To do this, go to the "Layer" tab in the top menu and select "Duplicate Layer" or press Ctrl + J. Go to the "Image" tab (Image). Select "Adjustments" - "Replace Color". A dialog box will appear. At its top, check the box next to Localized Color Clusters . There are 3 pipettes below. With the first selected, click on the area of the object where you want to change the color. It will appear in the top square of the dialog box.

An eyedropper with a plus sign adds area. Use it when there are unselected areas on the object. Eyedropper with minus - removes the part of the image that cannot be replaced by color.

Adjust the “Spread” parameter. If you leave the slider at the beginning, only those pixels that exactly match the color of the sample will be substituted. At maximum values of the parameter, the program will replace all shades of the selected color. Adjust the Replace option. At the bottom of the dialog box there are three commands: hue, saturation, and lightness. Use them to select the color and the desired shade to replace. Be guided by the square on the right labeled “Result”.

Click “Ok”. A good effect is obtained with contrasting images, especially if there are no similar shades of the variable color. If there are many tones of the selected paint, and you need to change only in one area, first select it using the appropriate tool on the taskbar. Thus, changing the color of any object in Photoshop is quick and easy.

How to change the color of an object in Photoshop?

Probably every girl at least once in her life thought about changing her hair color. But not everyone dared to do this. After all, a new color can both decorate and ruin the whole image. But how can you check this even before staining? Everything is very simple, you just need to use the Adobe Photoshop photo editor.

So open your photo with File> Open or Ctrl + O. Select the hair using the Magic Wand Tool (W key).
