Plugins for mozilla. List of useful add-ons and plugins for Mozilla Firefox that you might find useful

Developer. Having entered this page, you, of course, can pay attention to the section " most popular »add-ons for Mozilla, but we dare to warn you - firstly, the description of all add-ons is in English (therefore, the information may not be entirely clear), and secondly, not everything that is popular is really needed. So, let's get to the point.

1. Speed Dial

Speed Dial will greatly simplify the work with the browser at the start. This component is immediately recognized by those who changed the Opera with the "Fire Fox". The main task of Speed Dial is to remember the sites specified by the user and display them in the form of thumbnails on the start page - the so-called “quick access tabs”. Thus, you can open your favorite and most visited sites at any time with just one click. You can customize these tabs using the Speed Dial button that appears on the toolbar at the top of the window. A new site can be added using the command: "Set in Speed Dial".

2. Adblock Plus

The purpose of the add-on is to block annoying advertisements in the form of pop-ups like "You are the 999th visitor, click and get a prize" and messages like "Violetta wants to add you as a friend." All of these "jarring appendixes" on websites that use Java and Flash technologies, Adblock Plus can easily recognize and restrict. Its easy operation and super efficiency make it one of the most popular plugins and is included in the list of "Best Add-ons for Mozilla Firefox".

3. ProxMate

ProxMate is a very useful extension for Firefox users who are interested in foreign TV series, clips, TV shows, sports broadcasts. Despite the fact that recently the Internet without borders has been promoted, you have often seen a situation when, for example, a YouTube video “Not available in your region”. In order to avoid such unpleasant situations, we recommend downloading and installing this add-on. It works like a proxy and can replace your IP address and hide your true location. At the same time, the work of the plug-in will not affect the speed of the Internet connection.

4. Interclue

Without this add-on, active internet surfers will have a hard time. If you do not want to constantly feel like a bait for distributors of advertisements, malware and broken links, then by all means install Interclue. The development will inform you about unreliable sites even before you visit them. When you hover over the link, you will see an information window with information about potential phishing, spyware, erroneous links, etc.

5. Update Scanner

If you constantly visit the same web resources and follow all the updates, by all means get such a thing as Update Scanner. This plugin will monitor completely free of charge any changes occurring on the pages specified by the user. Information will be displayed in a pop-up window in the lower right corner. In this case, the changes will be highlighted in yellow, so you don't have to look for what's new on the site.

6. URL Fixer plus RU and UA

There is no point in talking a lot about this plugin. All it does is fix common typing errors in the address bar. But this is enough to download it. After all, it often happens that you press the next key or type in the wrong language. URL Fixer not only fixes the address where you touched the adjacent letter, but also translates URLs that were accidentally typed in the Russian or Ukrainian layout. For example, hammering in the line: "пщщпдюсшьюгф", you will get what you really wanted: google.com.ua.

7. LastPass Password Manager

Are you afraid to forget your password from mail or social network? Get rid of this phobia in no time with the LastPass Password Manager add-on! The plugin remembers all authorization codes and helps you manage all the passwords that you use while browsing the Internet. LastPass Password Manager will automatically complete all forms, and it also supports importing saved data from other password managers such as PasswordSafe, Roboform, Keepass.

8. Video DownloadHelper

This extension will not only simplify the process of downloading files, but will also be able to rip videos from the popular YouTube and Rutube hosts. Yes, yes, you can save YouTube clips and movies with just a couple of clicks. Another hidden feature of Video DownloadHelper is video converting. But to activate it, the developers offer to fork out a little.

9. IE Tab

Despite the rapid development of web technologies and the adaptation of Internet resources for the maximum number of users, there are still sites or their individual components that can be displayed exclusively by the Internet Explorer browser. So, in order not to launch two web browsers at the same time, you can solve the problem by installing the IE Tab plugin. After that, with the opening of pages "sharpened" for Internet Explorer, there will be no difficulties.

Despite the fact that today the browser is no longer as popular as a few years earlier, it is still used by millions of people around the world. At one time, this browser became popular due to the support of extensions, of which an incredible amount was released for Firefox. Gradually, many of the functions that popular plugins added were replaced by standard tools. But even today there are many extensions that make the life of users of the "fire fox" much easier and more enjoyable. The most interesting and useful of these extensions, in our humble opinion, we will list in this article.

What extensions are most often installed by active netizens for their browsers today? Ad blockers, of course! After all, "surfing" without being distracted by annoying banners and pop-up windows is much more pleasant. In addition, you do not waste traffic downloading unnecessary graphic elements of the web page. Why did we choose uBlock and not the more popular Adblock? Because uBlock searches for and blocks ads on the page much more thoroughly, does not "slow down" the browser and offers a much more user-friendly interface for "whitelisting" resources.

The best, in our opinion, extension for ensuring the safety and anonymity of the Internet. It will allow you to change the user's IP and enable traffic encryption through the VPN server. Thus, you will gain access to web resources that do not work in your country and will be able to bypass IP blocking in any game or service. From other similar extensions, ZenMate is distinguished by a relatively high speed and stability of the VPN connection. If you, for some reason, did not like this extension, then try using a good alternative -!

Think Mozilla Firefox is a fast browser? We are ready to agree with you! But to speed up the loading of web pages even more, try installing the Fasterfox add-on. This is a set of tweaks that allow you to disable unnecessary functions and services of the browser, which can negatively affect the speed of its work. Keep in mind that the extension interface is in English only!

Just a great solution for people who want to shake off the feeling of being watched by a web browser. It disables all sorts of mechanisms for collecting personal data and statistics, which the visited resources can obtain in both "legal" and fraudulent ways. By the way, the add-on has a very nice interface and it feels like it kind of "speeds up" the browser.

An extension that helps automate work with the browser through macros. If you do not know what a macro is, then this addition will not interest you at all. For those who know how to use (and maybe even write themselves) macros, iMacros will give you almost limitless possibilities for setting up automatic execution of various operations with Firefox.

A small but useful extension that prevents JavaScript from running on pages. One of the main advantages of such a limitation is an increase in the speed and safety of the browser. However, some pages may not display correctly due to JavaScript disabled. Websites where NoScript interferes with work can be added to the "whitelist".

If the previous extension disallows the execution of scripts, then this - on the contrary, allows you to make them "work" for your benefit. Typically, Greasemonkey is used to change the look of your favorite web service or social network. For example, replace the boring white background of the page with a beautiful image. The extension also allows you to disable some restrictions on services that interfere with work. For example, you can disable protection from going to a suspicious site from the Vkontatke social network.

An abbreviation that stands for (no, not World of Tanks, as fans of multiplayer games might think) Web of Trust. It allows you to view the "reputation" of various web resources and identify fraudulent ones among them. Indicators of "honesty" are displayed both in the search results and when you enter the URL you need pages manually. If the WOT icon turns into a color other than green when visiting a site, we recommend that you do not download files from this site and, even more, do not carry out financial transactions on it. Better just leave such a resource.

Proxy manager that is much easier to work with than with standard Firefox tools. The extension allows you to easily switch between servers added to the list, move frequently used proxies to a separate section, and even automatically check their health. It also works with Thunderbird and SeaMonkey.

These are all the extensions that we can safely recommend to almost every browser user from Mozilla. Of course, there are other useful additions, so we dare not pretend to compile the most complete list of "useful things". What extensions do you use? Share in the comments!

As you know, the basic Firefox installation package contains only basic surfing tools - the vast majority of additional functions are implemented through the installation of extensions created by third-party developers. This allows users to customize the browser according to their needs, independently completing the set of software modules they need. The range of possibilities implemented through add-ons is incredibly wide - they can be used to completely change the appearance of the browser, add additional buttons and panels to it, and even introduce completely new functionality, for example, teach the browser to translate pages, perform the functions of an FTP client, etc. etc. The vast majority of add-ons, along with a brief description, are available at addons.mozilla.org. Installing add-ons is straightforward - just click on the appropriate link on the add-on's web page. After that, a window will appear asking for permission to install the add-on, and if the user answers positively, the add-on will be installed. Installed add-ons are available from the "Tools" menu or through additional appearing panels, buttons and menus (depending on the specific add-on), and their management (editing add-on settings, updating them, deleting or disabling) is usually carried out in the add-on manager, opened using the command Tools> Add-ons. From the add-ons manager, you can also install new add-ons from the recommended list.

By default, the browser will periodically check for new versions for installed add-ons and automatically install them. If this approach does not suit you, then you can turn off automatic updating - that is, uncheck the "Updates installed add-ons" box in the "Options" window ("Tools"> "Options" command, "Advanced" tab). In this case, you will need to periodically check for updates by opening the Add-ons Management window (Tools> Add-ons), selecting the add-on and clicking the Find Updates button. Firefox must be restarted to complete the installation of add-ons or their updates. When updating the browser itself, you need to keep in mind that such an operation can easily lead to the fact that a couple of favorite add-ons with the new version of Firefox refuse to work, since the extensions are not updated at the same time with the browser, but later. So there is clearly no need to rush with this issue. We have already written about some useful add-ons for Mozilla Firefox, and in this article we will look at a number of interesting software modules.

Fast surfing

Quick access to frequently visited sites in Firefox is carried out through regular bookmarks or "smart" folders in the bookmarks bar. In addition, it is easy to configure the browser to quickly open some specific pages using the add-ons Session Manager, Morning Coffee or Speed Dial, which will be useful if during the Internet surfing you often (and maybe daily) have to download some and the same pages - say, some kind of news or thematic resources. Session Manager ensures saving (automatically or by selecting the appropriate command manually) the entire session (that is, the state of all open tabs). As a result, on subsequent openings, the browser can independently or at the user's request open the desired session (and not just the last one, as Firefox itself can) and restore the state of all tabs open in this session. The add-on behavior is configured using the "Tools"> "Session Manager"> "Session Manager Settings" command.

If desired, you can create several such work sessions and quickly open them by using the "Tools"> "Session Manager"> "Session Name" command or by selecting the name of the required session from the Session Manager panel. It is easy to drag the named panel to the browser toolbar using the "View"> "Toolbars"> "Customize" command. Such a set of sessions is convenient not only for quickly opening frequently visited pages, but also those that you visit only from time to time or just plan to visit again, but do not consider it reasonable to save page addresses as bookmarks.

Using the add-on Morning coffee you can also open multiple sites with one click. Moreover, a selection of sites downloaded on the machine can depend on the day of the week, which is quite important, since there are many resources where updates are made on specific days of the week, which means that you do not need to download them every day at the beginning of work. To add a resource to the fast loading list for a specific day (a combination of days, only on weekdays or weekends), after opening the corresponding site, call the "Add site to list" command from the Morning Coffee panel and specify the desired day or combination of days, or open the settings window and manually add the site url. And to quickly open the compiled site digest, just use the "Download sites list" command.

Addition Speed Dial it is used in a slightly different way and equips Firefox with a quick launch bar - in fact, the same as that found in Opera and a number of other browsers. With this add-on, the browser can remember up to nine user-specified sites and display them as thumbnails. In the future, the memorized sites can be loaded from the quick access tab, which opens automatically in a new window or tab (if the corresponding checkboxes are enabled in the add-on settings) or manually via the Speed Dial button. For this button to appear on the toolbar, you will need to enable the corresponding checkbox during the initial setup of the add-on, or later add the button to the main panel (the "Customize" command from the context menu called on the toolbar). There are two ways to add sites to the Speed Dial list - using the "Set in Speed Dial" command of the "Bookmarks" menu or using the same command, but referring to it from the context menus that appear when you click on the required tab or page. However, the second option will be possible only after adjusting the plugin settings.

The add-on can make the surfing process more convenient. ThumbStrips... After installing this add-on, mini-screenshots will be automatically created for all visited pages, placed in the form of a tape at the bottom of the screen (the tape appears / disappears by clicking on the Open / close ThumbStrips button). This will allow you to return to previously visited pages much faster, because for such a return you no longer have to repeatedly click on the "Back" button, but it will be enough to scroll through the screenshots tape and click on the desired snapshot of the page, which will lead to its loading. If necessary, the required sets of screenshots (it is wiser to delete unnecessary screenshots before that) - that is, those pointing to the pages that are planned to be accessed in the future, can be saved to disk. This will allow the next surfing to quickly load the set of screenshots of interest and the corresponding web pages.

If you have to regularly visit some web resources and it is important for you not to miss the appearance of any new information on them (for example, about software updates, changes in prices, quotes, exchange rates and any other information important for your business), then this process should be automated. How? You can, say, install a WebSite-Watcher web scanner - this solution will scrupulously monitor any content updates on the specified sites and promptly notify the user about it, but you will have to pay 29.95 (Basic Edition) or even 49.95 (Personal Edition) for it. ) euro. There is a simpler and at the same time free option to achieve a similar result - use the plugin Update Scanner, which will conscientiously monitor web pages for updates and, if any, notify the user about this via a notification window that pops up in the lower right corner of the screen.

Such monitoring is performed with the frequency specified in the page settings, and all changes are highlighted on the pages with a yellow marker - that is, you will not need to spend time looking at the changed pages in full, which is very convenient.

If you often have to download many pages without being sure that they contain the information you need, it makes sense to install the add-on Cooliris previews... This add-on provides the so-called pre-surfing, in which the page opens in a small temporary additional window (which is faster than normal page loading), according to the information in which you can navigate whether you need to open it at all. The technology for such an opening is simple - when you hover the mouse over the link of interest, a small blue icon appears next to it, and when you move the mouse over this icon, a preview window opens. If necessary, this window can be hidden in a temporary tab, and then at any time you can look at it again. In addition to previewing, Cooliris Previews provides the ability to search for specific words on thefreedictionary.com, Google Images, Google Search, or Wikipedia. In practice, this means the following - you can select one or another unfamiliar word on an open page and, through the context menu, start a search for this word, for example, in the Wikipedia encyclopedia.

And if you need to load several adjacent links on an open page, then the addition will help to significantly speed up the process. Snap links, which provides a group opening of all links selected in the block. That is, the user will only need to select the appropriate block of links while holding down the right mouse button - and the browser will start loading the corresponding pages in separate tabs. If necessary, in the settings it is also easy to change the recognition mechanism and the way of opening links - for example, make the middle mouse button responsible for the selection function and open links in separate windows, not tabs. Unfortunately, this add-on only works with old versions of Firefox (1.0+ - 3.0a8), and its author has not yet responded to the numerous requests from Snap Links fans to update the add-on to work under Firefox 3.5.

The Mozilla Firefox browser has perhaps the largest library of add-ons, but this does not mean that the extensions available in it can be equally useful. Among all these extensions, you can find both real "pearls" and rather useless things that can only consume RAM, which, as you know, is never enough.

Therefore, before heading to the Store for another extension, take a look at this selection of the most useful and successful add-ons for the Firefox browser. It is possible that for some of you it will save time, and for others it will save you from making a wrong decision.
