The quality of the assembly of the tablet was at a high level, the metal (allegedly aviation aluminum) justifies its use - pleasant to the touch, is durable and not bend. Is that the screen lacks some protective glass like Gorilla Glass. It is good that initially he has at least a factory film that lies tightly, evenly and is not very annoying.

For autumn 2015, Huawei MediaPad X2 is the easiest of tablets that tested by us. In many ways, this is a minor of a small diagonal of 7 inches.

It weighs 258 grams (although the manufacturer for some reason writes about 239), its dimensions - 183 × 104 × 79 mm (Huawei promises a thickness of 7.2 mm).

It is almost nothing to compare it - the manufacturers almost do not produce top flagship tablets such a diagonal, all of their "dust" usually goes to 8 and 10-inch models. If you take the chait of 2013 asus Nexus 7, it will immediately be seen how MediaPad X2 is compact - by 1 cm already, by 1.7 cm in short, a little thinner and easier for 20 grams.

The tablet received a good set of ports and interfaces, although the flagship lacks the "chips" like NFC, IR port or advanced technologies, such as MHL or Display Port (video transmission) for micro-USB connector.

In synthetic tests for productivity, the tablet received high points:

• Sunspider - 1172 ms, relatively fast, but ASUS Memopad FHD 8 coped with the benchmark much faster;

• Antutu 5 - 46 298, it is approximately at the ASUS Zenfone 2 smartphone level (ZE551ML);
• 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited - 11 433, not at all impressive, many flagships get almost twice as much.

Test results in benchmarks were at the level of last year's Android flagships, which, in general, is also good. If we talk about daily use, then everything works fine: applications, video, browser, with the exception of some games at maximum graphics. Most likely, these are optimization problems. For example, ASPHLAT 8 slightly slows down on the maximum settings of the graphics, but it works smoothly on "high".

Display - 4.9.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 display is one of its strengths (which, however, is so grabs). It is bright, clear and juicy - this is how it can be described in brief. What in our opinion is not enough, it is a protective glass.

Tablet screen type - IPS, resolution - 1920 × 1200 pixels (Full HD). In our opinion, this is the most for a diagonal of seven inches, the image is quite clear - the pixel density is 323 per inch, right as Jobs bequeathed.

The screen can be praised for a good oleophobic coating and the absence of an air layer between the screen and glass. Because of this, it seems that the image is planted "high" and visually is closer to the looking. The maximum brightness that we measured is 511 kD / m 2, it is brighter most tablets. The contrast was high - 1196, an excellent result. The display is read well in the sun, even during the shooting the camera on the screen it is clearly visible, which falls into the frame, and what is not. The distribution of brightness was surprisingly uniform - 94%. Color coverage Almost one in one repeats the SRGB standard. The accuracy of color reproduction is not the best on the market, but it is not noticeable to the eye. For enthusiasts, there is the ability to adjust the color balance in the screen settings, but it is better not to touch it, everything is already well configured.

Battery - 4.7.

Huawei MediaPad X2 showed high results in autonomy tests for their diagonal. Of course, in our tests there were results and better, but only at tablets with dull and fuzzy screens and frankly weak filling.

Capacity of the battery device - 5000 mAh, a lot for such a diagonal. For comparison, at 6-inch Huawei Mate 8, this indicator is 4000 mAh. So, in games on the maximum brightness, the tablet lasted 250 minutes (approximately like iPad Air 2). When viewing HD video on brightness 150 kD / m 2 MediaPad X2 turned off only after 11 hours (as well as Sony Xperia Tablet Z2), and this is almost half of the day. In the minimum load mode (the read mode on the minimum brightness) of the tablet was enough for a little longer than per day. Formally, our results do not coincide with the ones declared on Huawei, but also the wording with numbers they have too vague - waiting, some "standard" tasks, therefore it makes no sense to compare with promises or hope for them.

Software

Huawei MediaPad X2 is running the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and the branded convenient filling of Emotion UI 3.0. Compared to MediaPad X1, even dimensions remained the same (if rounded), and the mass is different only by several grams. Design

Although Huawei MediaPad X2 is very similar to its predecessor, they are easy to distinguish at first glance. The new tablet around the screen has a black frame that creates the illusion of lack of fields.

The back panel, as before, is formed by a rectangular metal panel and plastic inserts with plastic inserts. But in MediaPad X2, all these details have the same color. The dignity of the screen should include the absence of air gap in the layers of the screen and flicker, efficient oleophobic coating, high contrast and stability of black to the rejection of the view from the perpendicular to the screen plane, a good color balance equal to SRGB color coverage. To significant shortcomings - noticeable non-uniformity of the black field. However, in general, the screen quality is very high. Note that judging by the properties of the screen and on the structure of pixels, in particular in this tablet, it is used exactly the same screen as in Google Nexus 7 (2013), except that there is no illumination modulation.

Operating system

Huawei MediaPad X2 comes with fifth lessa Google Android and company shell Emotionui 3.0.5 (version of the GEM-701LV100R001C001B008T01-LOG). Through the settings of the tablet, we learned about such an interesting Huawei accessory, as a smart film (purchased separately). It allows you to make three mandatory Android keys beyond the display and thereby increase its active area. In addition, it creates two active zones in the upper corners above the screen. A double touch of each of them can be assigned one of five actions, including such a useful as RAM optimization.

The list of supported gestures is small and not particularly useful. The on-touch screen enable option was not found (although there was such an opportunity in MediaPad X1). But on the spot there was an alternative OS interface, simple and tiled. There are several pre-installed small applications - voice recorder, FM radio, mirror, etc. - of which we highlight the magnifying glass. It helps weakly seeing, increasing the small text and successfully focusing on it.

In addition to the lack of regular awakening on double-touch, we also disadvantaged the lack of a button that allows you to hide the standard android lower panel. Usually at Huawei tablets this feature is available. If you need to turn off or restart the device, you need to for some reason to make excessive touch to confirm the action. To ensure competitive performance, Huawei dispersed them to 2.2 GHz, calling the resulting Cortex-A53E components. In the second cluster of the processor, the most ordinary Cortex-A53 works, on more economical one and a half Gigahertians.

Judging by the characteristics of the tablet, in MediaPad X2, the manufacturer decided not to squeeze the maximum from the system, but to limit the maximum frequency of Cortex-A53E with two gigahegers. To work with graphics, a quad-core MALI-T628 is used, operating on 680 MHz. In different modifications, MediaPad X2 installed 2/16 or 3/32 GB of operational and permanent memory. Knowing the tendencies of Chinese developers, it can be assumed that extra gigabytes were designed exclusively for the Gold MediaPad.
