Successful continuation. Overview and Testing Lenovo IdeaPad Y560P Laptop

Keyboard

Lenovo uses the classic shape of the buttons with beveled edges and a small space between the keys in this laptop. The shooter block is spatially separated from the main array of buttons for better blind access to them. The arrow block keys have a special plastic label.

The Y560 keyboard costs without a separate digital block, as in many 15.6-inch laptops, which can distort some office users. But it made it possible to save standard key size. In general, compared to keyboard desktop computersPerhaps only space between the keys is slightly smaller.

Keys have a very big move and clear pressed Regardless of which part of the surface of the button, the finger enters. Thus, the keyboard pleases an excellent tactile return. Her only small minus, perhaps, is a loud clawing when working.

Touchpad

Synaptics Touch Panel (V7.4) - This is a modern touchpad. with support for gestures. With it, you can increase the images with two fingers and scroll without using scroll barns. However, the vertical and horizontal (not marked visually) the scroll bar is also present. By default, the horizontal scroll bar is disabled. The touchpad installed in Y560 is very large in size, and saves sensitivity up to its borders. Its surface is covered with small vests, which makes slip Pretty vygym.

Buttons Touchpad has a very big move and very comfortable. They are pressed clearly and gently. Due to the fact that for pressing it is necessary to minimal effort, and at the same time there is practically no click, buttons allow you to work quickly and with pleasure.

Capacitive keys and system recovery buttons

Touch buttons (used in them capacitive sensor) The status indicators are combined over the keyboard (work hard disk, Bluetooth, WLAN, Power) and application call buttons. Battery symbol Calls the Lenovo Energy Management program. The camera next to it opens ONEKEY THEATER II. Next, according to the instructions, you can choose the optimal script of use, but what it is incomprehensible. It may be, in preconfigured Y560, power consumption modes are somehow linked with scenarios of use .. In our test system, it was not possible to check it out, since it was supplied with Freedos and Windows 7 was installed by us personally.

Panel Lenovo. Slidenav (It is located between two white dots) is something new. With your finger, you can quickly run one of the eight pre-selected programs. So it is a common panel quickly launchapplications. On the right of the keyboard are the buttons to control the sound volume.

Also, Lenovo equipped a laptop special button ONEKEY RESCUE.. This feature in one form or another is present in all company laptops. It activates system Restore From the section laid by the manufacturer, regardless of whether the device is currently enabled or not. The user is given the opportunity to record the disk to restore the system or restore it to the factory state.

Recently, a replacement trend stationary computers Mobile began to go to a new round, when, besides the mobility and compactness, the list of requirements began to include a high level of productivity of central and graphics processors and not very high price., in the area of \u200b\u200bpsychologically important level in 1000 conditional units (i.e. dollars).

In this segment, the most buyers, and almost every manufacturer presented its own home laptop-oriented home auditorium. In the context of the strongest competition, everyone has to save on filling and / or appearance, Introducing the optimal price / quality ratio.

Lenovo, which in the world is still perceived in many ways as the new owner of the corporate line IBM ThinkPad, in 2008 introduced an independently developed stylish multimedia line with an emphasis on entertainment - IdeaPad.

The Big IdeaPad line is divided into several series: S, U, V, G, Z, Z, Y, - depending on the size and performance. It includes a huge number of models, from babies of netbooks to large gaming stations with stereo-scans (interlaced polarization).

The company's most advanced technical plan is characterized as follows: "Universal widescreen laptops with powerful multimedia functions. Ideal for gamers. "

The renewed line Y was represented in the summer, and on a wide sale appeared in the fall. This article will talk about the model Y560 (*) With a 15.6-inch widescreen screen.

(* IN currently In the MICS warehouse, models of the line, updated version Y560 are available. All configurations are equipped with second-generation processors Sandy Bridge up to the processor Intel Core i7-2630m. Laptops are completed hard disk up to 750 GB and maximum 8GB random access memory DDR3 1333 standard, use a powerful video card with 1GB VRAM. Also, the Y560P series is distinguished by a more rigorous design. The external design of laptops is built on a combination of grinding texture and metal color. Very pleasant feature is lenovo technology Windows 7 Enhanced Experience, which provides a 33% faster computer to turn on and 50% faster shutdown process. - Note MICS)

Housing

In 2010, the design of the 15-inch model was seriously updated, and now there are no hints of philosophy and the style of old IBM-Orti Linexes Thinkpad. The main color of the laptop is indicated as "Black" (black), but in reality, both outside and inside it is chocolate or dark brown, depending on the lighting, except that bottom part The housing is made of classic black plastic.

The lid looks very original and interesting: a rough matte coating with the addition of a shiny crumb, which is deposited by a glossy intricate pattern from geometric polygons, intertwined with hexagon. Powerful loops made under metal are distinguished on the lid, which creates a sense of reliability, and the Lenovo logo, stylized under chrome metal.

Binds the view of the orange-bronze edge from last year's lineup and so not a particularly thick lid. Edging plays a purely aesthetic role. In the first models of the Y series, it was not at all, although there were already a lot of red icons and buttons that appeared on the keyboard as it were in the peak blue icons on the Keyboards of Classic ThinkPads.

The futuristic pattern of the lid resembles an honorary board with a found-found chemical formula and the name of its inventor. Perhaps the concept of design was inspired by the advanced experiments with a two-dimensional allotropic modification of carbon - graphene, for which the Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded this year. I would like to believe.

The lid keeps at the expense of two moderately tight plastic loops, painted outside under metal, and inside the bold upholstery of the black gloss, also the boundary screen. There are no latches on the case, open the lid can easily with one hand at the maximum angle of about 135 degrees.

I didn't really like the cover of the cover when opening the "over the angle" and the glossy chance, which still deliver the hassle.

In working condition, the laptop pleases the eye - everything is modest, smoothly and tasteful, the main design solutions are similar to those that were applied in model row Last year, although the location of the ports is seriously changed.

The surface of the top block of the touch buttons, located between the speakers of the JBL, is made of black glossy plastic, as well as the on-screen frame. And the plastic zone around the keyboard unit is already stylized under the roughly polished metal, poured a thick layer of glossy varnish.

Prints remain everywhere, especially they will accumulate on top, touch buttons. However, the functions of the touch buttons are duplicated, so they can not use them so as not to get a surface. The exception is the Slidenav Bar band, which we will tell later.

It is worth noting that prints are visible only with a straight look at the panel, they are less noticeable at an acute angle. It is definitely lacking a real matte metal insert, like models of some competitors.

We turn to the side faces and ports of connecting external devices.

When you open the screen, the screen covers access to the rear face where the battery is located, so the connectors here are meaningless.

Let's see what connectors are on the front panel.

For convenience, here is the scheme of their location.

In front of the front, compared with the previous model Y550, the audio connections and the IR receiver were disappeared. But stayed:

  • Memory media machine connector - SD / MMC / MS / XD. The kit includes a plug. SD memory card is approximately 2 mm.
  • GPU switch ( graphic processor) - activates the program procedure for changing the video card between Intel HD and ATI 5730.
  • Built-in switch of all wireless devices - Bluetooth / WiFi / WiMAX. It has two positions - enabled and off, the individual setting is carried out through the utility.

Switches are so small that it is possible to move them only to the nail, and they are located very closely, which can lead to confusion.

The panel is also present: the White Laptop Activation Lightbook Light Administrator, duplicated on the on button (in sleep mode flashes), Battery status indicator (<30% горит рыжим, при зарядке гаснет каждые 5 секунд) и индикатор выбранного графического адаптера (когда включена карта ATI, он горит белым, при работе с Intel GMA — не горит).

The left side looks like this:

Now take a look at the scheme, to more clearly appreciate what connectors are presented here.

The new year brought new changes - the Kensington lock was lost on the left side, the ESATA port and an ExpressCard slot, and the connectors moved from other faces appeared:

  1. Analog video output VGA.
  2. Digital video output HDMI - audio and video.
  3. Ventilation holes.
  4. RJ-45 Ethernet port up to 1000 Mbps.
  5. Two USB 2.0 ports.
  6. Headphone socket - combined with optical Toslink 3.5 mm.
  7. Microphone socket.

The location of the connectors is very successful, it is convenient to use all ports. Especially liked the location of the audio connections close to the front of the laptop. The exhaust opening of the ventilation system is very large, with diagonal cuts of the protective grid.

And finally, the right side.

Connector location scheme:

So, here are:

  1. USB 2.0 port.
  2. Combined ESATA / USB 2.0 port.
  3. ExpressCard 3/4 connector.
  4. Optical drive DVD-RW.
  5. Nest for connecting a television antenna (only in some models).
  6. Nest for power adapter.
  7. Nest for Kensington Castle.

It is not clear to the manufacturer's desire to put permanently busy ports on the near edge, where they can interfere with the arm with the mouse. It would be more logical to move them closer to the power jack. Power plug M-shaped, so the wire will immediately go beyond the screen.

Finally, take a look at the bottom configuration ...

and a convenient scheme where all the elements are indicated.

Although it is not close to the bottom to look closely, but the changes compared to the Y550 are quite noticeable here - the site has become more "licked" and enjoyable for the eyes, the angles disappeared, the "nanosabvofofer" disappeared, and instead of boring and small air intake lattices, large ornamental windows appeared. Four rubberized-pyramid legs reliably hold the laptop on the table and do not slide it. For example, with a sharp pulling the USB cord, the laptop will remain in place. The main nodes remained the same:

  1. Spring-free battery latch.
  2. The battery pack (a little dangling, there is a feeling of unreliable fastening).
  3. Mechanical battery latch.
  4. Connector for SIM card (only in some models).
  5. MINI PCI EXPRESSCARD socket compartment.
  6. Central processor (CPU) / memory compartment (RAM).
  7. Hard disk compartment (HDD).

To look inside or replace something, such as a memory bar or mini PCI-E card, you need to grow several screws. By the way, the screws are completed, i.e., completely revealed screw remains in the lid and cannot fall out of it. Thanks to this, the fastening screws is simply impossible.

Photographs with lid:

Access is open to all important components.

The cooling of the processor and the video card is hanging on the overall heat channel, so under high load heating will occur together, and with time the temperature records at 90 ° C can become an unpleasant norm. And in the summer it is possible to overheat until freezing. It is very careful about the operating conditions and from time to time to clean the cooling system from dust!

The processor hatch has a metal insert and reflective foil under particular hot places.

Configuration

Lenovo offers a large number of different configurations of the Y560 model, some of them are represented in Russian, part - on the English-language official website, part is available at retailers. Focus on the huge list of models built on a variety of combinations of components, is very difficult. Moreover, there is little information, but full of confusion and even errors.

In general, it can be argued that the system is built on the Intel platform of the penultimate generation and it uses the ATI 5730 video card, the remaining components may vary. You can estimate various configurations, for example, at Hardware Maintenance Manual.

Let's look at the technical characteristics of the test model IdeaPad Y560A1-I383G500BWI (59-054380).

The configuration may vary in very wide limits, respectively, and performance can be very different depending on the configuration. There is little information about the screen, but judging by a small resolution, in the laptops are installed inexpensive matrices, they should not wait for nothing good.

A pleasant feature of this line is a biennial guarantee on a laptop (with the exception of the battery, it is 1 year warranty for it), it is more than most competitors. However, on the official website for models Y560, one year is "one year", such a confusion arises on the websites of retailers.

To find out the situation, we tried to use the Lenovo IdeaPad Information Support Phone, found on the official website. It turned out that the specified number is already disabled, the other telephone is currently used. In order not to spend time on conversations with a soulless robot, you can, if there is a serial number, use the test system for the warranty period. As a result of the inspection, it was possible to find out that our laptop was released in September 2010, and the warranty on it is 24 months from the date of sale. By the way, in the absence of a check or other purchasing documents, the warranty period is calculated from the date of production.

Testing

Performance, test results

Test results will be interesting, since the powerful dual-core processor is adjacent to a moderately productive video card.

We check the estimates of synthetic system performance tests in PCMark Vantage packages, 3DMark06 (in brackets SM2.0, HDR / SM3, CPU podes), 3DMark Vantage and Cinebench R10 (performance test 1 kernel / 2 cores / work in OpenGL), R11.5 (CPU / GPU).

For comparison in test programs, take Hewlett-Packard Envy 15, which, although it belongs to another segment and is more expensive, but the configuration is similar to our today's guest. The HP laptop has a more powerful quad-core i7-720 and ATI Radeon HD 4830 1 GB video card.

In general, the indicators are high, but not outstanding, especially noticeable failure in the memory test, this may be due to the fact that the 133 MHz bus, and so that the memory configuration is 2 + 1 GB. Although the end user is unlikely to notice the difference "on the eye".

Let's look at the PCMark Vantage test results (for Y560 results are given to start the test in x64 / x86 modes).

PcMark Vantage. Lenovo Y560 HP Envy 15. ASUS N81VG.
PcMark Score 5678/5326 5743 4093
Memories Score 4031/3891 4089 2681
TV and Movies Score -/- * 4184 2711
Gaming Score. 4912/4628 6305 3496
Music Score 5463/5396 4496 4118
Communications Score 4459/4318 3836 3720
Productivity Score 4733/4297 4773 2892
HDD Score. 3311/3266 3914 2990

* The test does not pass, as in Home Basic there is no necessary MPEG-2 decoders from Windows Media Center. Result VC-1 HD DVD - 26.3 FPS

Estimates are sufficiently predictable, the final score shows even though a small but advantage of the 64-bit platform over 32-bit. Noticeably tangible backlog of the video card 5730 from 4830 and the advantage of a hard disk with a rotational speed of 7200 rpm.

There is a noticeable superiority of a dual-core processor over quad-core in Music Score (hard disk and transcoding). This can be explained by a higher base frequency (2.5 VS 1.6 GHz) and the complexity of parallelizing tasks. A similar situation with Communications Score, where the web pages be rendered.

Video card data is presented by the GPU-Z program.

Results for ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 5730:

Results for integrated Intel HD Graphics.:

Let's see what graphic tests will be shown:

Score PB758 / P1396. 4164
CPU. P7226 / P7230. 9374
GPU P3240 / P1100. 3513 *

* A similar result can be obtained, slightly lifting the GPU Core / MEM frequency through AMD GPU Clock Tool, but no more, since the interleaving the mobile platform is very insignificant.

The results are logical and more correspond to reality. The advantage of four nuclei and autorangone, and 4830 more than 10% faster 5730, which in turn is a bit overclocked 5650 and overtakes it about the same 10-15%.

To not receive low GPU results when working from the battery - you need to turn off PowerPlay in the ATI drivers tab! Either set up for maximum performance depending on the tasks set.

In addition, a set of more classic tests:

The differences in the results are more repeated and the video card corresponds to the level of GeForce GT 240m. With the test render of Cinebench R10, the use of all nuclei increases the performance more than doubled, and in this case the separation of quad-core I7 processors from dual-core i3 is even more noticeable - approximately 20%.

Games:

We turn to the most sought-after testing of the test on the example of modern games.

STALKER COP BENCHMARK 1366 × 768. DX10 - Middle:

DX11 - Middle:

In medium settings, the FPS level is often higher than the minimum threshold of 3 frames in 30 frames, however, the failures up to 17-20 guarantee to be brazed in the most inappropriate places.

Dirt2 Benchmark 1366 × 768 4xmsaa:

In medium settings, the quality of graphics does not suffer much, and the playability increases significantly.

Farcry2 1366 × 768 DX10 RANCH MEDIUM:

In the form of a table:

According to the results of the test, it can be said about the minimum sufficient level of performance in High and Ultra High modes, but the inclusion of anisotropic filtration significantly reduces the indicators.

Unreal Tournament 3 Hoc Benchmark Tool - 1366 × 768:

PRESET / FPS. Average
CONTAINMENT MAP, ANISO8, MOTION BLUR 69
Serenity Map, Aniso4, Motion Blur 66

Definitely, the mobile version of the ATI 5730 graphics processor shows a good level of performance, and in most modern games it will be possible to play with the mid-level settings.

Finally, let's look at the performance of the hard disk according to AIDA:

And separately in the HDTUNE utility. Overall reading diagram from the surface of the disk:

And file work diagram:

Taking into account the small measurement error under multitasking OS, these programs are coincided. The performance of this disk is at a normal level for modern models.

The laptop is not equipped with a hard disk protection system from shock beats, which helped prevent data loss in case of random drop. Manufacturers should pay more attention to the preservation of data on any lineup of laptops, and not only on corporate.

Battery life

The battery in front of the tests has been subjected to discharge and charge procedures for several days to reach the natural level of work.

Lenovo Energy Manager offers two battery charging modes: more time from one charge or longer life of the battery itself. By the way, the new battery costs more than $ 70.

Lithium batteries have a rather high level of self-discharge, recharging is included when the charge balance drops below 98%. Even if the laptop is constantly included in the network, the battery is discharged below this threshold for two or three days. Permanent recharging leads to a faster degradation of elements and loss of capacity. However, if you often work with a laptop from batteries (even better if the level of discharge is deep), it is worth choosing this particular option, since degradation will not (more precisely, it will not be higher than the usual level).

If the laptop is constantly working on the network, then you should choose the optimal resource of the battery. In this case, the battery charging will not turn on until the charge falls below 80%. More rare charging helps extend the battery resource.

Testing for battery life is carried out in two modes: with the Intel HD video card minimum load mode (reading the text from the screen), with ATI video card when viewing the film and with an increased load on all laptop systems (stress test). Charging was carried out until 100% achieve.

Tests are carried out in the "Balanced" power scheme. Time to disconnect the monitor and hard disk is placed on "Never". Other interventions in power management (switching graphics, disconnection of components, etc.) is not produced, they remain default. The screen brightness is set to the maximum, the lighting sensor is turned off, the wireless interfaces are disconnected. When testing a laptop reboots, all utilities installed by the manufacturer are launched (except for the antivirus program, it is uninstalled before tests).

When discharging below, 10% manually blocked the transition to the economy mode to force the screen brightness at the maximum.

To measure the battery life during the playback of the film, a film in X264 720P format with AC3 audio track was used. The file was played from the hard disk, the ATI video card is turned on with the active PowerPlay mode! "Energy Saving", Media Player Classic 1.4 x64 player, built-in AVC decoder with hardware acceleration DXVA (loading of a processor with a frequency of 2.5 GHz was 3-6%; without DXVA approximately 14-20%; in the "balanced" processor multiplier mode changes from x7-x14), Render EVR.

* 5% of the charge laptop went into sleep mode, external power was connected and the system is running, but the charge did not start for more than 50 minutes! With ATI video card, autonomous time in this mode is 196 minutes.

** On 4% charge, the laptop went into sleep mode, however, due to the high load, the hibernation mode was not completed and the "blue screen" STOP 0XA0 appeared. After rebooting, the data were lost. Charging began immediately. To correct the error, you need to increase the size of the hibernation file from 75% by default to 100% using the PowerCFG.exe / H / Size 100 command.

In the maximum power saving mode, the laptop works about three and a half hours. For a home multimedia laptop, autonomous time is acceptable. If watching a movie, then the laptop will take two hours smoothly. And in this mode, the battery life, let's say, on the verge, this may not be enough to watch the long film entirely. However, in the test used enough "heavy" version of the video file, if you take a simple AVI, the battery life may be greater. Under the load Y560 and is working at all less than an hour. When working on the Internet, it should be expected that battery life will be around 1 h. 35-40 minutes.

Compared with classmates, the results are not impressive, but not failed. For example, for this class, the level of autonomy is medium.

The abundance of intersecting and additional settings for energy saving from Win7, Lenovo, ATI and switchable graphics, of course, makes the life of a regular user much more complicated, but at a successful tuning it can significantly raise the battery life.

Heating and noise

The correct temperature regime is very important for mobile devices often operating in adverse conditions. To determine the temperature borders of the built-in sensors, the AIDA utility was used (stress test mode) with parallel launched LINX, for the ATI - FURMARK video card. However, in real life, the laptop harded to collide with such a high load. Here, for example, AMD / ATI measurement data:

The results at the external temperature at 25 ° C were the following:

At rest Under load
CPU 47—50 80—86
HDD 37—39 41—43
Video card 48—52 80—82

If you start FURMARK and LINX, then in less than five minutes the CPU temperature will be 88-90 ° C and the trottling will turn on, the GPU temperature will reach more than 82 ° C. With such high temperatures internal components already have a real chance that the laptop will overheat up to hang. The problem lies in too low legs at the bottom, if you raise the laptop above the surface, the temperature will fall by more than 15 degrees.

With normal operation, the left half of the bottom heats up more than the right, but it does not reach the temperature at which it would be unpleasant to work with a laptop. Even from the ventilation hole, he is warm and does not burn air at all, as it was possible to expect in terms of the temperature of the kernel of the processor and the video card. It is quite possible to play modern games, keeping IdeaPad Y560 on your knees. [I personally seems to me that when the data is correct, it is possible to conclude an inefficient or poor-quality, defective laptop cooling system. If the processor is heated to 90 degrees, and the air is just warm, then most likely the system for some reason can not take heat from the processor. With a normal organization of the cooling system, this should not be - approx. ed.]

In a state of rest, the fan is almost silent. Under the load, it works more intensively and, accordingly, noise louder. However, even in this case the noise is pleasant, without high-frequency components, in terms of the level - quieter than the built-in DVD-ROM.

In a quiet room, you can hear that the laptop is very quietly sicked at high frequency, when the load appears, the foreign sound disappears. Sound source is somewhere near a hard disk. Users with particularly sensitive hearing this moment can annoy.

Impressions of use

Unpacking

The laptop comes in a black cardboard box with an orange handle. Packing size - 450 × 132 × 330 mm. All the faces are applied to all the delivery data, including the serial number and the date of production. Box weight 4.36 kg. Inside there is a packed laptop in foam forms and a white box with all the contents:

The laptop battery is separately located separately (Li-Ion 57 WH), a thin and lightweight 20V / 4,5A power supply with the Lenovo logo, grounding power cord.

In the delivery kit, there are software disks needed to restore the system. This disc with Microsoft Windows 7 is a domestic basic edition; A complete set of Y560 V1.0 drivers for Win7 32 / 64bit (In addition, there is a copy on Disk D); Disk with preset programs: Adobe Reader, Power2Go, Cyberlink Youcam, Lenovo DirectShare, McAfee Virus Scan, PlusReadycomm, Veriface; Disk with a player WINDVD LENOVO 1.2, which is also installed on a laptop. Binds the list of the user's manual for 140 pages, a brief configuration memo.

The first impression of work was unpleasant. The Win7 HB installed on the laptop is decently slowed down, it hovered several times not only when performing tests, but simply in a flat place, repeatedly the system fell into a "blue screen". In addition, there were problems with the transfer of Bluetooth data and, most unpleasant, refused to work normally touchpad with the Multi-Touch function of a well-known company Synaptics ... He behaved like an old optical mouse on a mirror surface - the cursor jumped on the screen or did not work at all ( The device was lost), buttons were pressed instead of movement and vice versa! Most likely, these are shortcomings of a particular model, but it characterizes the level of quality control at the factory. So the performance of your laptop is still worth checking upon purchase.

Let's look at the basic elements of the laptop functionality in the working position.

  1. The built-in camera is used for video conferencing, rollers and in the Veriface face recognition system.
  2. Built-in microphone with compensation for echo signals and noise reduction.
  3. The antenna of the wireless network module.
  4. Computer display with 16: 9 aspect ratio.
  5. Computer Status Indicators - HDD / Bluetooth / Wireless Network / Num Lock / Caps Lock / Touch Lock / GPU - burn during device activity. However, if the Bluetooth adapter is turned off via Win7, and not the Lenovo utility (Fn + F5), the icon will burn until the mechanical shutdown of all wireless devices occurs.
  6. Acoustic system JBL.
  7. Power button with backlit.
  8. Button to start Onekey Rescue System - Backup and data recovery.
  9. External illumination sensor - can automatically adjust the brightness of the screen when ALS activation in the Lenovo Energy Management utility, the "Smart Management" section.
  10. Lenovo Slidenav Bar is customizable "hotkeys".
  11. Capacitive touch buttons start the power management program LENOVO ENERGY MANAGEMENT, MODE SETTING PROGRAM MODES ONEKEY THEATER II, and Side Side Constant Sound Volume Control Buttons + / - / Mute.
  12. Touchpad Touchpad with buttons.

All indicators are shining in dim milky white color and are not very distracted at night.

Keyboard

The key block remains exactly the same as in the model of last year.

The Keyboard is classic, the supercursor block keys are located vertical line to the right of it. There is no digital block, although now it appears in 15-dum laptops increasingly and more often. No other modern additional features, type of key backlight, no. On top of the large chocolate buttons with white "stickers" with a large and well-readable symbols are applied. System functions that perform one or another key in combination with Fn are indicated by orange characters on the lower edges of the keys.

By the way, Fn here is in the corner, which is very bad affecting the convenience of work. If you use another keyboard in parallel, such as a desktop computer, then constantly move from one to another - torment. If you do not use other computers, you can get used to such a mutual position Ctrl and Fn, but it will still be less convenient to work with the keyboard.

The shape of the keys is traditional, with beveled edges. A little lack of a separation deepening between the buttons (the finger does not fail) and therefore frequent missions are provided, for example, by narrowing ENTER.

Auxiliary keys (SHIFT, Ctrl, etc) are large, and this is good. Especially pleased with the large convex buttons of the shooter block. In combination with Fn, they provide the brightness and sound setting (there are separate +/- and MUTE buttons for sound, and the latter when the mode is activated starts to glow white).

The supercharged block keys, home / end / pgup / pgdown, as we have already noted, lined up the vertical line on the right side of the keyboard. Over them is a delete of an unusual shape. Horizontally, this key is one and a half times longer than the rest. Printscreen is in the form of a single key, but it was not enough space for Ins, this key is made in the form of a combination of Fn + F12. In the vertical column I would like to see the block separation by type of row F1-F4 / F5-F8 / F9-F12.

The key is soft and does not create a lot of noise when working, the exception is entering ENTER and the space that is tangible louder. When printing, the keyboard unit is noticeably bent, especially in the center. The housing is also nuts and easily twisted as an eraser, and with particularly non-accurate circulation there is a chance of damage to the inner parts of the motherboard, the appearance of microcracks, etc. It is possible that it is a struggle for weight, possibly for the final cost. In any case, this is a disadvantage that needs to be considered. With the Enter key, there is another problem - if you click on its center, performing from top to bottom, then the pillow of the finger rests on the sharp right top edge of the SHIFT keys, delivering discomfort.

In general, the keyboard is not the bad. For the Internet and games with the WASD block it is quite suitable.

It is worth adding that a similar keyboard is supplied for the English-speaking market, but with the short-screen left SHIFT key, due to the addition of the button "", in turn, the released space for a large "M-shaped" ENTER.

Touchpad and positioning devices

In Y560, there is a touchpad of the company SYNAPTICS (V7.4) with the Multi-Touch function available in the Win7 environment by default. Multitach functions make work with a touchpad more convenient, for example, it is easier to scroll through the document - it is enough to spend on the surface with two fingers. Here it has become more compared to a narrow touchpad on the previous series, Y550. The physical dimensions are approximately 90 × 50 mm (16: 9). To ensure the feedback, the surface of the touchpad is littered with small tubercles, i.e., you can clearly feel like a finger moved. On the surface there is a dedicated zone of the vertical scrolling, there are no pillows in this place.

Movement on the surface is slightly tight than the "Teflon" brothers, but positioning is clearer, without slippage. In general, the sensitivity of the touchpad is high, and the driver offers a huge number of settings, but you hardly need to change something. To exclude false responses when working with a keyboard, the touch block can be turned off by pressing Fn + F6, the indicator between the buttons will turn bright white. In those rare moments, when the touchpad worked, only good impressions remained from him.

Buttons are still two, but this time they are copper-glossy and will surely collect prints. In addition, they are soft, slips and chat a bit from side to side, and the lack of the usual hard click at all makes the work nervous.

Additional keys and indicators

The location of the main indicators and multimediaclavis was described in the section "Corps", and here we will consider it in more detail their functionality.

  1. ONEKEY RESCUE SYSTEM system is a user-friendly application for backing up the system partition data (disc C) and their simple restoration if necessary. Onekey Recovery can be used in Windows, and Onekey Rescue System can be used without running the Windows operating system.
  2. Slidenav Bar is a thin corrugated touch panel with seven lights. Touch starts a special Lenovo utility in which you can open custom quick start objects, gesture to change the wallpaper, hide or open the screen (in fact turn on the screensaver), change the working space of the finger on the panel (however, this function is available only in software that does not come with a laptop ).

The most sought-after application startup function is implemented as follows: Opening the list of applications, lead your finger along it, reaching the desired program, raise your finger, and the selected item will start. By default, SlideNav Bar is highlighted. To remove annoying points in the center of the panel, you need to set the "Disable flashing indicator flashing" in the settings, and it does not prevent their sound effects either. The remaining functions are more cosmetic decorations.

  1. The battery icon is the touch button of quick access to the power supply settings, and the movie camera is running Onekey Theater II, the optimal screen settings utility from the preset scripts: normal mode, movie view mode and intelligent mode. By and large, useless utilities.

In the lower right corner there is a final touch in a set of "White Stars in the Dark Sky" - a highlighted iDeaPad logo, surrounded by a dance of seven stickers. Glows when working as a laptop and in sleep mode. Absolutely excessive way to remind yourself.

Indicators, except for the pulsating points of the Sidenav Bar, cannot be disabled by software.

The entire top row is littered by fn modifiers. We give their full list:

Enable / disable the activation of the built-in camera. When the camera is activated, the white indicator lights up next to it.

Fn + F1. Switch to sleep mode.
Fn + F2. Turn on / off LCD backlight.

The matrix continues to work, you can even see the contrasting objects.

Fn + F3. Switch to another connected display.
Fn + F4. Opening the display resolution interface.
Fn + F5. Opening the wireless device configuration interface (on / off).
Fn + F6. Enable / disable the touchpad.
Fn + F7. Enable / Disable Sound
Fn + F8. Enable / disable the numeric keypad.
Fn + F9. Pause keyboard key
Fn + F10. Keyboard Break Key Feature
Fn + F11 Enabling or disable the SCROLL LOCK function.
Fn + F12. Enable / disable Introduction (Ins key function).
FN + PRTSC. Activation of a system request.
Fn + / ↓ Increase / decrease the brightness of the display.
Fn + ← / → Reducing / increasing sound volume.

The network settings interface (FN + F5) of Lenovo does not have a priority value to activate wireless devices. Therefore, so that confusion does not occur, it is better to use the Intel utility that hangs in the taskbar.

Switching displays caused the greatest complaints. When pressing Fn + F3 (Analog Win + P), a menu appears from four items: only LCD, duplicate, expand, only an external screen. However, the required mode must be chosen by the mouse (the buttons do not switch the modes cyclically). Therefore, if you chose the wrong mode, the switching icon will need to be signed on the touch.

There is not enough keyboard backlight lamp, which would be so good to place in the screen frame, next to the chamber's eye.

Screen

The screen is the most important component in terms of user interaction with a laptop. However, almost all manufacturers when creating new models go along the path of least resistance, trying to use inexpensive "mainstream" solutions. Only occasionally and in expensive models you can see a really good matrix.

Home laptops suffer from this trend most. First, the transition from matte screens to glossy was held. Yes, with long-term operation, the glossy screen is worse, but in the store it looks brighter, and the colors are juicy. Then, instead of a more convenient for working with the text of the format of 4: 3 laptops hastily began to translate into widescreen format 16:10, and when the transition took place - manufacturers quickly abandoned it and moved to the 16: 9 format, previously used only in the movie, and now burst Both in televisions and computers, and already crowded all other options from there.

Finally, the last step is the selection of permits. In order to save, most producers put an exceptionally matrix with a low resolution of 1366 × 768, especially in low-cost models. This permission complies with the HD Ready standard - an option entered with purely marketing objectives to get a cherished HD logo on monitors and televisions that do not deserve it.

Moreover, if for 12-13 inches, this permission is fully justified, then for 15-inch screens it is already not enough, it would be possible to work comfortably and in higher resolution.

Cons of the use of such matrices, besides those performed using TN-FILM technology, are known in advance - the glossing mirror gloss, the small height of the desktop, noticeable pixelization, pronounced degradation and inversion of colors when the vertical deviation, incorrect colors and incomplete color coverage, whisper " the black". So, in the "dark" games, and this is usually all shooters, it will be unpleasant to play, and the movies will also see too. Sometimes even from surfing the network will be increased fatigue. The only plus can be considered the transition to a diode backlight, although the brightness of the screens for some reason is still insufficient for comfortable work on the street.

According to the technical specification, the following matrices can be installed on the Y560 model:

Each of which can have their own advantages or disadvantages, but, perhaps, the N156B6 will be preferable, since, according to the manufacturer's statements, it has a contrast of 650: 1 (real can be 5 less).

Our instance from LG Philips has all the features and all the disadvantages characteristic of this class of matrices, and promptly noticeable "Dancing pixels" on moving windows or objects; The screen attracts dust that creates the effect of "broken pixels". But you should not be afraid - such a situation with all matrices on the market, you just need to be ready for this ready.

To top it all, the network passed the network that some AUO matrices have a noticeable hotel (imaginary circuit) on fonts, like with a bad analog cable, which looks very wildly in the era of digital interfaces.

A feature of the laptop is the presence of a light sensor, which by default constantly relieves the screens brightness to excessively, even if the laptop is connected to the outlet and in energy traffic is the maximum brightness! It's all about activated intellectual mode ALS Utilities Lenovo Energy Management, it is recommended to disable it.

Sound

Two broadband dynamics of JBL are mounted in the laptop housing, there is no separate bass dynamics, and therefore sound has a ringing and squeaky tone. Compared to the Y550 model, the acoustic window has become elongated, and the pattern was changed to a more sound permeable. Splitting and loudness is high, acoustics are quite suitable for voice and films without the abundance of sound special effects. For homework, music and games strictly recommended to buy outer acoustics.

In the headphones with the default settings (without equalizers), the failure of the detail is noticeable - the bubbage on bass with a small dampness, the sky

Lenovo is well known for its durable ThinkPad laptops and budget office cars. But what about the portable device for gamers? ATI HD 5730 video card, Core i7-720QM processor, 7200 rpm hard disk and JBL dynamics - and at the same time a fairly low price within 35 thousand rubles. Mustache?

Perhaps the presence of excellent productive components and at the same time not the transcendental cost is exactly what Most buyers like. The Y-series from the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo is laptops oriented primarily on performance, and their potential buyers are gamers who choose a computer, focusing exclusively on filling.

Appearance, quality of materials

Anyone who will look at the Lenovo Y560 will see a broken out of total mass and extravagant laptop. The lid is made of matte plastic, and some brilliant elements can be seen on it. Depending on the lighting, they can be visible or invisible. A delicate bronze strip surrounds the lid on the sides, and it is perfectly harmonized with the general mood of the laptop.

As for the working environment itself, here we have glossy surfaces in large quantities. And all this is very quickly covered by fingerprints, which will not be far away. Of course, if you joke on gloves, then this bowl will be passed. The rest will have to be disadvantaged. The only oasis in this kingdom of gloss is the matte keyboard keys.

In general, the laptop is strong enough, nothing will be missed anywhere. The keyboard is also strong enough - only in the right part only with a very strong press. At the same time, the truth is not a very pleasant creaking.

Display hinges are firmly holding the screen in the desired position. The lid itself is not very durable - we have easy to bend it. Since the lid in a closed form does not have a lock, then you can not exclude a random opening of the display while the laptop will be in the bag. Also on the lid in large quantities remain scratches and fingerprints. The surface of the display is quite durable enough, during pressing almost no distortion appears.

Ports

There is no modern USB 3.0 to quickly exchange data with hard drives, but there is an ESATA. HDMI and VGA are present to connect external displays or TV. There is also an ExpressCard / 34 expansion slot, which will make it possible to add the missing FireWire or USB 3.0 here.

The location of the ports is not very successful - the right is USB, ExpressCard / 34 and ESATA, and if one of them is busy, it may make it difficult to access the rest. For example, the same ESATA cable takes quite a lot of space. On the left, the situation is a little better - HDMI and VGA are closer to the back of the laptop, so all thick cables will be at least more or less hidden from the eyes.

Front: Card reader, Wireless Switch

Left: VGA, HDMI, Ethernet, 2 x USB 2.0, line input, microphone input

Rear: Display Hinge

Right: USB 2.0, ESATA, EXPRESSCARD34 (above USB), optical drive, slot for connecting a network adapter, security lock

Input Devices

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 is a classic key keys with beveled edges and a small distance between them. The arrow keys are separated from the rest, and therefore they will be enough just to grope without looking.

This laptop does not have a separate digital block, which is quite often found in 15.6-inch laptops. This allowed not to climb the main keys in size. The only thing to pay attention to is the distance between them is slightly smaller than the conventional keyboards for desktop computers.

The keys have a very clear point of operation, which, of course, significantly facilitates the text set. When printing, however, a light rattle is heard, and some can strain it.

Synaptics touchpad is a modern model with multi-touch support. There are also support for the horizontal and vertical scrolling, it is a pity that the horizontal on the touchpad is not indicated and deactivated by default. The surface of the touchpad is quite large, sensitivity at the level.

The keys are very good - a clear moment of triggering, lightness of pressing, no noise.

Display

The panel has a resolution of 1366x768 (16: 9), and this is standard for laptops worth up to 1000 euros. We consider such permission quite suitable. HD 5730 graphics will still not give the opportunity to play a higher resolution game. Well, for office applications, this is the most.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 display has a fairly low contrast - 175: 1. It is quite typical for office laptops, for multimedia is clearly not enough. However, the multimedia from those that we had on tests (mainly in the entry level), which rarely had more than 200: 1. The good contrast is 400: 1 to 1000: 1.

Due to low contrast, there are not very good and levels of black. A rather many reflections appear on the glossy panel.

The brightness is below average, on average it was 174 cd / m2. By the way, the brightness sensor over the keyboard automatically regulates it depending on the ambient lighting. He works, however, not to say that satisfactory. So we had to adjust the brightness manually. It is a pity that the deactivation option is missing.

As for the behavior of the display in the sun, everything is quite predictable here. For normal operation, you need a good shadow, otherwise the brightness of the screen is not enough for a normal image, and, of course, the glare prevent.

Usually, high-quality multimedia laptops have quite wide viewing angles, so that you can watch movies at any angle to the device. The same applies to both gaming laptops, where the display generally plays a very important role. However, budget models of both classes, unfortunately, cannot offer us it. Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 is just that.

Horizontal viewing angles make up about 45 degrees, after which the colors are significantly distorted. Vertical is so generally very small - up to 10 degrees.

Performance

W. intel processor Core i7-720Qm has 6 MB of third-level cache, and energy consumption is 45 watts. This is one of the most powerful processors from Intel 2010. It produces in the process of 32 nm, and the letter Q in the title means that it has 4 physical cores. They work on a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, but using Turbo Boost technology you can dispersed to 2.8 GHz. Dynamic acceleration is enabled by default and occurs automatically, so in demanding applications and games processor begins to work faster.

Well, the Hyper-Threading feature adds to each physical core also virtual, so you actually begin to work as much as eight nuclei. All eight, of course, cannot be dispersed to 2.8 GHz, but up to 2.2 - easily.

The 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (PC3-10600) perfectly helps the Core i7-720QM processor. Our instance has 2 modules for 2 GB - Kingston and Elpida installed. Of course, it is best if both modules are made by one company, but it does not affect performance on performance.

Core i7-720QM is an excellent productive processor, and it will easily "make" his fellow - Core i3 and i5. In Cinebench R11.5 test, he scored 3.0 points. It turned out to be slightly faster than ASUS G73JH-TZ014V and Acer Aspire 8943G-728G1.28TWN, which installed the same processor.

Well, the systems with i5-520m and generally remained far behind with 2.2 points (Sony VAIO VPC-Z11x9E / B). The system with Core i3-350m (ASUS N61JV-JX012) received 1.9 points.

As for testing computing conducted using multiple nuclei - in the Cinebench R10 Multi test (64 Bit), then the laptop has received 10.161 points. At the same time, the best result with the i5-520M processor showed a Fujitsu Lifebook T900 laptop, but also to him from 8.342 points to Lenovo IdeaPad Y560, even despite the activated Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 mode, overclocked processor to 2.93 GHz.

Game performance

Inside, Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 has a discrete graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5730 (support for DirectX 11 and Shader 5.0) with 1 GB of video memory DDR3. GPUZ showed the availability of video memory GDDR3, however, the performance of this video card and the cost of video cards with GDDR3 is still suggested that there is still not it.

The kernel works on a clock frequency of 650 MHz, the memory bus is 800 MHz. HD 5730 belongs to the upper segment of the middle class of video cards from ATI. NVIDIA GT 330M is slightly slower.

Classic graphics test - 3DMark2006 - was passed with a result of 7282 points. This is almost identical to the result of MSI GE600-i5447W7P with the same graphics, but the I5-430M processor. NVIDIA GT330M scored 6545 points (Dell Vostro 3700, 720QM). Close-in performance HD 5650 scored 7076 points due to its lower core clock frequency (550 MHz).

Summarize. In principle, I have already seen the HD 5730 schedule in the MSI GE600. Well, there is also a quad-core processor, which is very well affected by gaming performance, often increasing playability. We can say that Mobility Radeon HD 5730 is a video card with an excellent price-performance ratio, and this is especially important for a laptop with such a fairly low cost, like Lenovo IdeaPad Y560. In comparison with the mid-level graphics of NVIDIA GT 330M, our HD 5730 clearly wins.

Temperature and noise

Naturally, the gaming laptops will be noise. However, we must admit that Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 in this plan made an exceptionally positive impression. During the game and performance tests, the cooling system was noisy at 39.8 dB. The noise level was constant, but after the end of the load, it returned to his usual state - 35.5 dB. Along the same noise level - 34.1 dB. The cooling system works constantly, it never turns off.

But we also decided to load Y560 a very large stress test - launched FurMark & \u200b\u200bPrime95. Then he looked down like a plane on takeoff - 45.6 dB. This is the noise level just and can strain and interfere. Well, after loading the fan after 20 seconds gave 40 dB. However, we still have to add that we have created a very big load.

During the games, the lower part of the laptop was heated to 50 degrees Celsius (left, near the dynamics). On average, the temperature is 34.5 degrees, and this is due to the fact that the rest of the laptop areas even at high load remain fairly cool.

It is worth noting that when playing is best to put a laptop on a solid surface, and even the napkin on the table can be the reason for this laptop the cause of overheating. In stress tests, the processor heated to 90 degrees, the graphics are up to 88. However, the high temperature does not affect the stability of work.

Audio

For those who buys Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 as a multimedia or gaming laptop, of course, its audio system will be important. Lenovo uses stereo speakers from JBL, located above the keyboard, there is no subwoofer. And we will not scold them (although it is most often done), because the sound is balanced, the volume level is quite sufficient, both high and low frequencies are also heard. There are even bass who bring alive and vibrating sound to games.

Even at a high volume, the sound is not distorted. We have heard a better sound only at ASUS N71JV, but there were also the speakers altec-lansing plus a subwoofer. If you want to attach external speakers, it can be done only through an analog entrance for headphones, SPDIF here, unfortunately, is missing.

Autonomous work

IdeaPad Y560 has a 57 watt-h 5200 mAh battery, and, of course, it is unlikely to show the wonders of autonomous work. So it turned out - when surfing on the Internet, a laptop worked over a Wi-Fi laptop for only 2 hours. If there is almost nothing to do anything on this laptop and reduce brightness to a minimum, then it will work a little more - 3 hours and 24 minutes. Naturally, wireless modules should also be turned off.

When viewing a movie via DVD, the results are generally disappointing - 1 hour and 45 minutes. With the maximum load on the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 processor lasted only 50 minutes.

conclusions

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 is an excellent 15.6-inch laptop with a Core i7-720QM quad-core processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 graphics and cost up to 35,000 rubles. Perfect option? It may well be. In any case, the price / performance ratio is at a very high level. In addition, the laptop has excellent high-quality sound, and the keyboard with touchpad is very comfortable.

But there are also disadvantages. This is a loud cooling, especially when loading, as well as a very small battery life. The housing is not particularly strong and durable, and the display does not please the brightness and viewing angles.

By the way, Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 is offered in several configurations, and there are options with I3-350M processors (2.26 GHz) and I5-450M (2.4 GHz). Their cost - 24-26 thousand rubles. That is - even more attractive. Which option to buy is to solve only you. We can say that with all its deficiencies IDEAPAD Y560 is still very good.

During the preparation of the review, NotebookCheck.com website was used.

R A device is intended for everyday work. When weighing a little more than 2.5 kilograms, you can wear a laptop with you at least every day, and you can use stationary. You decide. In any case, the computer will affect you with its capabilities and speed.

It is pleasant to realize that with the "specific" load and decent "filling", the device operates in the mode of using a 6-segment battery about three hours.

Design

So, in front of us a solid laptop with a matte pleasant surface where a pattern consisting of geometric shapes looks beautifully. In addition to glossy figures stylishly looks edging from plastic.

The device lid is firmly held due to two glossy loops. Hard fixation will not allow the laptop to open at the most inopportune moment. No other way lines the lid.

If, mostly, the surface of the laptop was made of matte plastic, the workspace is almost all glossy. Given the presence of a textural image on the surface, fingerprints will not be so much.

The surface of the matrix and keyboard will not get in touch, because On the perimeter of the screen frame there are rubber "legs".

In general, the device is assembled in good faith. In addition to a small progress of the cover, there are no other complaints on the quality of the assembly. Details do not creak, they are captured canceled.

Display

In Lenovo Y560 Laptop, we see a 15.6 inch display, the resolution of which is 1366x768 points. The WXGA glossy screen with LED backlight has a 16: 9 cinematic ratio, so you will not see the edges of the annoying black stripes. The display can boast of excellent viewing angles horizontally.

The brilliant display surface on one side makes the image bright and juicy, and on the other - you will notice the reflections on the matrix from time to time, and sometimes recycling.

Despite the low level of brightness and clarity, pleases that the level of illumination is adjusted by a special sensor automatically using Ambient Light.

Integrated stereo speakers are located at the entire bottom under the display. The subwoofer in the acoustic system is not, but without it, the sound is simply great. Despite the lack of "bass" the volume is so good that there is no need to connect the external speakers.

The presence of a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera will help in a video output at a distance. True, the angle of inclination of the cover The user will determine itself, due to the fact that the peephole of the webcam does not rotate. But with the help of the user recognition technology Veriface, you can not enter a password to access the system.

Keyboard and touchpad

The display parameters allowed to place a full-size input device, and with a separate digital button. Laptop keyboard numbers 84 keys. Traditionally, for Lenovo models, all buttons have a trapezoid profile.

Once again in the models of the Chinese company Lenovo, we face the same FN key, which is located on the site of the Ctrl button. The right column on the layout consists of navigation keys. There are no complaints to "shooters", they are large and they are convenient to use. Function keys are grouped four and resemble keyboard layouts to stationary computers.

All buttons are matte. They work with a soft progress and clear press.

A slightly recessed sensor manipulator is located with a slight displacement to the left side. A large zone of Synaptics touchpad helps positioning. It is convenient to work with this platform, because The surface of it is covered with small embossed splashes. The sensory field functions using multiple touch technology. So you can perform scaling of images, scrolling, etc.
Below under the touchpad installed two keys pressed smoothly.

Processor and equipment

The basic configuration provides for installing the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, which will help work with a laptop from the date of purchase. In case of problems in the system, the company manufacturers have provided a disk to restore OS.

The basis of the computer is the high-performance four-core Core i7 - 720QM processor. High-quality work of the processor is carried out using the clock frequency of 1.66 GHz and 6144 KB cache. The device's power is explained not only by the high-speed central processor, but also by those components that in a bundle with it allow to achieve speed.

The excellent RAM indicator is in the computer - this is 4 GB of RAM, for which this volume is not last, is maximally set up to 8 GB. But this is already your choice, someone and built-in 4 GB are quite enough. Data rate is high (standard of memory module DDR 3).

What to say about the tank of a hard disk? Volume of 500 GB is enough for everything that wish. Films, applications, programs, photos, documents are recorded on magnetic disks - yes, anything. Winchester SATA "Dials" speed 5400 revolutions per minute.

For the safety of data on the disk do not need to worry, because In the event of a fall, ShockGuard technology will work. It will protect the Harddisk plate from damage.

The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 graphic system, presented by the video subsystem when using 1 GB's own memory, is able to "show" a high-quality film, and the actions of the characters in the game will be almost real. The productive discrete video card will increase the energy efficiency of the system. Despite such a large volume of video memory, it can be significantly increased to 2234 MB using operational. This will help the use of Hyper Memory technology. If we speak in general, then the presence of such a serious graphics will ensure interesting work with the execution of a video editing, given that the main load is not on the processor, but on a video message.

The laptop implements the ability to change the card mode with integrated to discrete and vice versa. To do this, it is worth pressing the switch, which is in front, and it will become clear which controller is currently used.

Considering this, we note that with such productivity the computer will be very hot.

Optical drive, ports, card reader

A set of interfaces in this model is "filled" to implement various connections.
On the left side of the laptop there are two linear adapters, gigabit internet, HDMI and VGA video outputs. Also on this side there are two USB 2.0 connectors.

On the right face, in addition to the optical drive of DVD RW Super Multi, allowing you to record all sorts of disk formats, there are two more USBs, one of which is combined with the ESATA port, ExpressCard / 34 format slot and power socket.

Only the 5-in-1 card reader, the Wi-Fi adapter switches and separately video directions are located on the front face.
Using the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 module, you can connect wireless to the Internet.

Conclusion

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 laptop for business class representatives will solve most complex tasks. The main thing is that Laptop is suitable for use, both ordinary students and directors of enterprises.

New generation line of homemade multimedia laptops Lenovo

Recently, the trend on replacing stationary computers Mobile began to go to a new round, when, in addition to mobility and compactness, the list of requirements began to include a high level of productivity of central and graphics processors, and at the same time not a very high price, in the area of \u200b\u200bpsychologically important level in 1000 conventional units (i.e. dollars).

In this segment, the most buyers, and almost every manufacturer presented its own home laptop-oriented home auditorium. In the context of the strongest competition, everyone has to save on filling and / or appearance, looking for an optimal value for price / quality ratio.

This article we will talk about the model Y560 with a 15.6-inch widescreen screen.

Housing

In 2010, the design of the 15-inch model was seriously updated, and now there are no hints of philosophy and the style of old IBM-Orti Linexes Thinkpad. The main color of the laptop is indicated as "black" (black), but in reality, both outside and inside it is chocolate or dark brown, depending on the lighting, except the lower part of the body is made of classic black plastic.

In working condition, the laptop pleases the eye - everything is modest, smoothly and tasteful, the main design solutions are similar to those used in the model number of last year, although the location of the ports is seriously changed.

  • The GPU switch (graphical processor) - activates the program procedure for changing the video card between Intel HD and ATI 5730.
  • Built-in switch of all wireless devices - Bluetooth / WiFi / WiMAX. It has two positions - enabled and off, the individual setting is carried out through the utility.

Switches are so small that it is possible to move them only to the nail, and they are located very closely, which can lead to confusion.

The panel is also present: the White Laptop Active Lightbook Light Administrator, duplicated on the power button (in sleep mode flashes), the battery status indicator (left side looks like this:

Lenovo offers a large number of different configurations of the Y560 model, some of them are represented by, part - on the official website, part is available at retailers.

Rate various configurations, for example, in

In order not to spend time on conversations with a soulless robot, you can, if there is a serial number, use the system.

At restUnder load
CPU47-50 80-86
HDD37-39 41-43
Video card48-52 80-82

Binds the list, a short memo on initial configuration.

It is worth adding that a similar keyboard is supplied to the English-speaking market, but with the short-screen left SHIFT key, due to the addition of the "\\" button, in turn, the released space for a large "M-shaped" ENTER.

Fn + F1.Switch to sleep mode.
Fn + F2.Turn on / off LCD backlight.

The matrix continues to work, you can even see the contrasting objects.

Fn + F3.Switch to another connected display.
Fn + F4.Opening the display resolution interface.
Fn + F5.Opening the wireless device configuration interface (on / off).
Fn + F6.Enable / disable the touchpad.
Fn + F7.Enable / Disable Sound
Fn + F8.Enable / disable the numeric keypad.
Fn + F9.Pause keyboard key
Fn + F10.Keyboard Break Key Feature
Fn + F11Enabling or disable the SCROLL LOCK function.
Fn + F12.Enable / disable Introduction (Ins key function).
FN + PRTSC.Activation of a system request.
Fn + / ↓Increase / decrease the brightness of the display.
Fn + ← / →Reducing / increasing sound volume.

According to the technical specification, the Y560 model can be:

The unpleasant feature was high-profile clicks in the speakers before playing Windows sounds!

The Dolby Home Theater V3 logo flashes in the honorary corner, but there is no information about this technology in the instructions! On the official website of the Dolby, it can be understood that this is a "sound-driver identical to natural, with the taste of surraound," but again - there is no such bookmark in the drivers! An introductory video can be.

It turns out that the Onekey Theater II button not only changes the range of images, but also changes the properties of the sound on analog outputs! The effect of expanding the stereo tone and the nonlineal sound of sound sources is felt. However, the add-in is valid only for analog outputs, the sound on digital remains unchanged.

I would like to hope that in future drivers it will be possible to configure the effects manually, such as, for example, you can select the reference frequency separately for analog and digital (SPDIF) outputs.

Through the optical cable, the signal 44.1 kHz 16 bits takes place with minor distortions, so that DTS-AudioCD will not listen to the external receiver (no noise, there is no synchronization), it may be fixed in future drivers. Tracks 96 kHz 24 bits are reproduced without problems, the main thing is to enable the desired setting. However, it is also desirable to leave 24 bits regime for other audio formats, which will potentially reduce the total number of noise. AC3 / DTS streaming mode works without problems.

Button Dolby Digital Live (Sound Encoding in AC3) is, but it is not activated.

Recording from the built-in microphone is picking up, but it is sparkler, more reminiscent of conversations using a gramophone in a wooden box. However, for web conferences you can always buy an external microphone.

In general, working with the sound of this model is not bad, and for more demanding users there are good sound cards under ExpressCard / 34 or USB.

Additionally

The Virtual Wi-Fi Hotspot mode in Win7 was successfully created, but I did not find a smartphone based on the Android database.

The webcam has a good for the built-in quality, but little faded colors. The declared resolution is 1.3 Mp (1280 × 1024) - the fiction and in fact is not very different from 640 × 480. Through the pre-installed CyberLink Youcam, you can record videos or take pictures with different effects, including with tracking of the face position (headers, masks, asterisks around the head, etc.).

Problems occurred when connected via a VGA display with a resolution of FullHD. ATI 8.752 Command Driver Persistently did not want to use full resolution in automatic mode (EDID), only the choice of manual settings allowed correctly. However, in this video card mode allows you to choose any permissions, including unsupported by the screen. It is possible that the installation of more recent drivers can correct the situation, but there are no updates on the site yet.

Well, the traditional problem: the HDMI connection only works when using the powerful schedule of ATI, however, this is a technological limitation.

The problem arose with SIDENAV BAR - several times when the internal handler is out of the waiting mode, "after which the sensor panel did not respond to touch.

The restart did not solve the problem, all the sensory buttons still refused to work, and only after the computer is completely turned off the functionality recovered. I am sure this disadvantage will be corrected in future versions of software.

The flashing of the paws among the Chinese "HeartBeating" is called.

And finally - the on-screen menu. When changing the brightness of the screen or volume of the audio, the corresponding indicators for which the current volume level can be determined.

This is how the brightness adjustment indicator looks like:

And so - the audio adjustment:

And about this menu in the garden of developers by Lenovo is worth throwing another impressive stone. Because these screen indicators when changing the volume or brightness of the screen (using the keyboard) switch the focus and some games are flying out of the full screen mode. No settings for turning off this "Bagago-File", no, you have to manually kill the Utility.exe application in the task list (Battery Management Software Ver3.0).

Positioning and conclusions

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 belongs to the most common class of home laptops. Such laptops are focused on the widest possible user audience and are created so as to please what is called, everyone. By this, by the way, it is explained by such a rich selection of configurations: so that the buyer can choose a configuration for himself and has not refused to buy Y560 due to the fact that it was not found suitable for him.

The laptop has everything that should be in the home compartment of the average price range - a modern filling, a large and fastest hard drive, wireless interfaces, an ESATA port, a HDMI multimedia interface and an optical S / PDIF. Power is ridiculed into a compact shell with an attractive design. Excellent set for multimedia center.

However, just to say, it's hard to do. Disadvantages in this case can block all advantages - the harness and gauge of the case, the glossy screen with the average characteristics, as well as the potential overheating problems can overstate the euphoria from contemplating the results of the viscosity of the video card and processor.

Perhaps the main thing in this model is a balanced combination of characteristics when there are no frankly weaknesses.
