Howard is a small utility for email notification. Supports all popular email services. The program is designed as a background application that periodically checks the mailboxes specified in the settings and, when a new incoming letter is detected, will notify you with a sound signal and a pop-up message in the system tray.

Howard feature description

Howard makes it possible to forget about the periodic manual check of e-mail inboxes. The program will be useful especially for those with two or more email addresses. The Howard utility, depending on the frequency set in the options, supports a cyclic check of new emails from 30 seconds to 2 hours.

For the program to work, you will need to select one or more mail services and enter the corresponding one under your account. Howard is not an email client and cannot open incoming emails by itself. The application was created only to notify the receipt of new mail. As soon as Howard has fixed a new incoming, then it will immediately notify with a sound signal and a small message will be displayed in the taskbar area. By clicking on the pop-up window of the program, the browser is called with the opening site of the mail service or the mail client, if you use it to read and send mail.

The program settings are very simple and intuitive. In the Howard options, you can choose the styles of pop-up notifications about received letters, change the sound signal and set the frequency of checking mailboxes.

If you have several mailboxes, you can receive notifications of new messages in Yandex.Mail to a different address. To set up notifications:

Not receiving notifications

This may be due to the following reasons:

Personal data is not specified in Yandex.Passport

Specify reliable ones in Yandex.Passport and link them to your account. Perhaps our security system found your account suspicious and blocked the mailbox. Rule not activated or address not confirmed

Make sure that the required rule is activated on the page, as well as the one to which messages should be sent. Check for any typos in the address you provided.

Little time has passed since setting up the rule

After you have configured the rule, wait a few minutes - the rule may not start working right away.

You don't need to make any additional settings - just enter your username and password, and the program will do the rest by itself.

A nice addition will be the availability of online check for new letters, as it is implemented in the "native" mail application from Yandex.

This is a very handy feature. When working on the Internet, always be aware of the letters that come to the mail, especially if you are waiting for a letter. You don't have to constantly go into your mail and look at it. It saves a lot of time.

Today we will look at how to set up Yandex mail sound notification and gmail mail sound notification.

In Yandex mail, you can configure the sound directly in the mail settings.

We go to our Yandex-mail, in the upper right, click on the gear

From the drop-down menu, select "Other". In the window that opens below, look for the word "Sound" and put a tick there

Sound notification is not provided in the gmail mail settings. But, if you use the Google Chrome browser or, then this can be solved using the Checker Plus for Gmail extension.

1. By putting a check mark in the sound notifications, you can click on the triangle and select the sound of the notification from the drop-down menu.

If you click More, you can select a music file from your computer. But I warn you right away that the duration of the melody will be the one that you download. Therefore, load the file already adjusted for the desired duration.

3. Pop-up notifications have excellent settings.

You can put a radio button on a simple notification, then it will simply be displayed in the corner of the monitor (as in the setting you did when).

But I liked the customizable notification more, which is more powerful and allows you to work with the letter right on the spot, without going into the mail.

We put a radio button in a custom notification.

In the "Close after" field, select the time during which the notification will remain on the monitor screen. I set it to 25 sec. I immediately work with this letter.

I read this letter from whom, if I want to get to know him immediately, then I click on the notification (In "Action when clicking on a notification" I have "Open").

If I see that this letter is clear spam, then I click on the "Mark as spam" button (I selected this very inscription in "Notification button # 1").

If I don't need this letter, then I click on the "Delete" button (I chose this inscription in the notification button # 2).

If I want to read the letter later in the mail itself, then I do nothing and after 25 seconds. this notification disappears from the monitor.

You can customize the notification as you need it.

In the name of the sender, you can select only the first name or the first and last name.

4. The new extension feature allows you to show contact images in emails.

To do this, you must check the box, allow the extension to access your contacts. And choose how often you want to receive contacts.

5. If you check the last item, then after closing the browser, you will still receive notifications due to the work of background pages.
