An ordinary Runet user faces the same problem every day - if he liked something, he must save this information on his computer (if the information is presented in the form of a website), or download and save it on his computer (if it is presented in the form text file, e-book, pdf document, etc., etc.).

If the site allows downloads, it will have a download utility to help you complete the file transfer. Each site handles this process differently, but we'll give some general examples. Typically, the site will have help pages to guide you through the loading process.

Many sites have a download button that opens a dialog box. A dialog box appears prompting you to select a file. After that, a progress bar will appear on the page, tracking the download process. Flash drives offer removable, highly portable flash storage data storage. As long as your flash drive is connected to your computer, downloading content to disk from the Internet is a quick task.

It may seem that this is very easy to do. But for some, this is a very big problem. Not everyone knows how to do this. In this article, I will briefly explain how this is done.

Let's take a closer look at two options for storing information on a user's computer in more detail.

. You found the site you are interested in and decided to save it on your computer. For example, you visit an e-book site. You liked him. You want to have a copy of it on your computer and study it a little later, in a relaxed atmosphere, disconnected from the Internet.

Download files from the Internet to a USB flash drive. Navigate to the location containing the content you want to download. Run the "Save" command of the software. To save this page, you need to go to the "File" menu of your browser (IE), find the "Save As" command. A new window "Save web page" will open in front of you. The following options for saving information will be available to you:

How to download a file in Yandex browser

If that sounds like something that interests you, we've got you covered. We are currently developing a two-way sync agent to serve collectors with more advanced music management needs. You can choose Browse to choose a location for the unzipped file, or you can go to the default.

In cases where the "Ask me where to save files" option was selected, the problem may be related to the last selected download folder. For example, if you selected "Always ask me where to save files", select "Save files to" and select a folder to download, then go back and select "Always ask me where to save files."

Full web page (* .htm, * .html);

Web archive one file (* .htm);

Web page, HTML only (* .htm, * .html);

Text file (* .txt).

Select the first save item “Complete web page (* .htm, * .html) and you will save the page with graphics to your computer's hard drive.

But what if the site contains many pages and there is no time to view them. Special programs can help you with this. They are popularly called “site rocking chairs”. There are a lot of such programs. I will name only one - "Disco Rocking". You can easily find it on the Internet. After its launch, you will need to configure the download parameters: specify the site address, indicate whether you need programs, pictures, the depth of page downloads and whether you need to download information from external links. It’s very simple. Using one of these programs, I once downloaded the sites necessary for my work.

Change or reset actions for file types

It is no longer possible to automatically clear your download history, although this feature has been requested. See File Types and Upload Actions. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving them elsewhere.

  • Try saving to disk first and then opening that file.
  • Failed to save because you cannot change the contents of this folder.
If you see this error every time you try to upload a file, go to your home directory and delete this settings file.

After the download of the site of your choice has occurred, you are disconnected from the Internet. The hard drive of your computer will already have a copy of the site from the Internet that you downloaded. You can now browse this site while disconnected from the network.

Information on the Internet can be presented in the form of files of various extensions exe, pdf, doc, zip, rar, etc.

See the Plugin Issues section. If you are unable to work around the problem or fix it by updating your software, consider using a different security product. In some cases, this causes significant delays or freezes while the file is being scanned. In other cases, the file is not saved after the scan completes.

Change the default download folder on your computer

If the download manager seems to be stuck in checking for viruses, try closing and reopening the Download window instead of disabling the preference. Based on your settings, the download of executable files may fail and the Download window may contain the following message under the file name. This can happen if you have configured Internet security settings for the Internet zone when the Run applications and unsafe files option is set to Disable.

These files can be downloaded in several ways:

Using a browser;

Using a download manager.

Let's consider these methods in more detail.

Using the right button of your mouse.

Very often, links for downloading files are published on the site itself. You need to become on this link, press the right mouse button and select "Save object as" in the drop-down menu. Then you select the folder where you will save this file and boldly press the "Enter" key. In this way, you can save the file in any format: pdf, rar, zip, exe, etc.

You can solve this problem as follows. Downloading and saving files or documents to a computer is something we don't think about. It is saved to your hard drive and is ready to be accessed as needed. The lack of a user's file system can be confusing, and something as simple as downloading a file can suddenly become a daunting task.

By default, these files will not be on the device. They will be stored in the cloud and accessible from the device, and in some cases, users will be able to download them for offline access. In this case, they will also be on the device itself. Regardless, the files must be uploaded to the cloud service.

Using a browser.

If you have a link to this e-book, you can use another method to download it. You can enter a link in the address bar of your browser (IE) and press the "Enter" key. Your browser itself will offer you to save this file to your computer's hard drive and will begin the process of downloading it.

Uploading files from a password protected website

The steps mentioned above work great if the file you are trying to download is publicly available from the website. But things can get a little tricky if you are trying to upload a file or document that is stored on a password-protected website. If so, we need to use another third party app to complete the task.

Using a download manager.

Downloading information using the download manager is the most optimal way to download information from the Internet, from remote servers. Download managers have great advantages over other methods of downloading information:

Functions

Pause the download of a file.

Resuming the download of the file from the last point of its interruption (the so-called "resume").

Uploading a file in multiple streams, which allows you to increase the download speed if the client's bandwidth is higher than the share of the server's bandwidth per connection.

Limiting the download speed.

Creation of download lists in various formats.

Scanning downloaded files with anti-virus programs.

In this lesson we will look at the classic file download situation. When you click on a link, the browser picks up the file and starts downloading it.

How to download a file in Google Chrome

It looks like this. A gray rectangle with an arrow appears for literally one second. This is how the browser lets us know that the download has started. Immediately after that, the downloaded file is placed at the bottom of the browser.

By the way, this process does not interfere with the work on the Internet in any way. That is, the file will quietly download by itself, and you can continue to work on the network at this time. Most importantly, do not close your browser, otherwise the download will be interrupted.

How to determine if a file has loaded. As I said before, when downloading, the file is placed at the bottom of the browser. When he is in the process of saving, a certain picture is shown next to him - a circle gradually filling in green.

The file size and approximate download time are also shown below the file.

How quickly a file loads depends primarily on its computer size. The smaller it is, the faster the download occurs.

Also, the download speed depends on the speed of your Internet. If the Internet is high-speed, then the download will be fast, even if the file is large.

When the file is completely saved to the computer, the picture next to it will change, and the data on its size and download time will disappear. This means that the file is "ready" and you can already work with it.

But in fact, this bottom bar under the browser, which shows downloading files, is auxiliary. That is, you can always close it by clicking on the cross in the right corner.

Then loading and already saved files will not be visible. To see them, you need to click on the small button with vertical sticks at the end of the browser address bar.

A list will open. In it you need to click on the "Downloads" item.

The same main part will open, which shows everything that has already been downloaded and what is being downloaded at the moment.

You can click on the inscription "Delete all" and information about previously saved files will be erased (but not the files themselves!). There will be information only about those files that are loaded.

To temporarily stop the download use the Pause link, and to stop the download completely, use the Cancel link. These links are under each file that is currently being downloaded.

Note: Pausing a download may not always be able to resume it. Sometimes it is impossible to continue downloading - you have to start over.

At the beginning of the lesson, I said that, as a rule, files after downloading go either to the Downloads folder or to the My Documents folder.

That is, you should look for them on the computer either in one or another place. Where you find them, they are saved there specifically in your case.

By the way, this very folder (exactly the one where everything is uploaded) can be opened through the browser itself. To do this, go to "Downloads" and click on the link "Open downloads folder" (on the right).

In fact, you can change the folder where everything is loaded: Settings - Show advanced settings - Location of downloaded files (in the "Downloads" part).

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here is a link that will start downloading the free Avast antivirus program:

How to download a file in Opera

At this point, a small rectangular bar with download information appears on the upper right side of the browser on the right side.

This is how Opera informs us that the download has begun. How long it will last depends on the computer size of the downloaded file, as well as on the speed of your internet. The smaller the size and the higher the speed, the faster the file will download.

Until it is fully loaded onto the computer, you cannot use it - it simply will not open.

But this does not interfere with the use of the Internet in any way. That is, you can continue your work in the network without limiting yourself in anything. The main thing is not to close the browser, otherwise the download will be interrupted and the file cannot be opened.

How to determine if a file has downloaded. When the download had just started, a rectangle appeared with information about this process. But if after that you continue to do something on the Internet, then it hides.

This is done so that information about downloads does not interfere with your work. But the conservation process is still ongoing. And you can check its condition at any time.

In order to do this, you need to click on the gray button with the image of a circle, inside which an arrow directed downward is drawn.

This button is located at the very end of the browser address bar.

By clicking on it, the downloads window opens. It shows the files that were saved earlier, as well as the files that are being downloaded right now.

To manage these files, as well as to clear information about them, you can click on the "Details" button.

Or you can click on the Opera button in the upper left corner and select the "Downloads" item from the list.

An additional tab will open with which you can manage downloads.

Each downloaded file is shown in a separate rectangle. Right from here you can open it or open the folder in which it is located.

By the way, you can erase information about already downloaded files. To do this, click on the "Clear Downloads" button.

The files that are currently being downloaded will remain. By the way, their download can be controlled. For example, pause or cancel a download.

Note: after pausing the download, it is not always possible to resume it later. Sometimes it is impossible to continue downloading - you have to start over.

Where to find files after downloading. Earlier, I already told you where to find downloaded files on your computer. Let me remind you that they are either in the Downloads folder or in My Documents.

But you can change this location - then the files will be automatically saved to another folder when downloading.

To do this, you need to click on the Opera button in the upper left corner, select the "Settings" item from the list and specify a different folder in the "Downloads" section.

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here is a link that will start downloading the free Avast antivirus program:

All of this detailed information is closed just like a normal browser tab.

In general, those files that are being loaded at the moment can be managed without opening anything else. Because immediately after the download starts, another button appears at the end of the smart line.

If you just hover over it, you will see information about the status of the loading process. And if you click on it, a small window with different settings will appear.

After the file is downloaded to your computer, this button will change its appearance - it will become a file icon. Now by clicking on it, the saved file will open.

Note: how fast the download is going depends on the size of the particular file, as well as on the speed of the Internet. The smaller the size and the higher the speed, the faster the download will take place.

Usually downloaded files go to the Downloads folder or to My Documents.

But you can also open it directly from the browser. To do this, click on the download button and click on the desired file. And if you want to open the folder in which it is located, then hover over the file and click on the small button with the arrow.

How to download a file in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer does a poor job of downloading files. Very often, files do not open at all after downloading.

Therefore, I recommend that you start using another browser. For example, Google Chrome. This browser is free and for many reasons (not just downloads) it is much better than Internet Explorer.

By clicking on the download link, Internet Explorer immediately displays a window in which it offers to open the file (run, run) or save it on the computer. This window is usually located at the bottom of the browser.

To save to your computer, you need to click on the "Save" button. After that, the program will start downloading the file.

Perhaps before this Internet Explorer will offer to choose a place where to put this file after downloading. In this case, select the desired folder or leave everything as it is and click on the "Save" button in the window.

After downloading, the window will say that the download is complete. The file can be viewed immediately by clicking on the "Open" button (run, run), or open the folder in which it lies.

Typically, all downloaded files go to the Downloads or My Documents folder. There you should look for them.

Or you can independently set the location for saving. To do this, click on the button with the gear image in the upper right corner of the browser. Then select the item "View downloads" from the list.

In the window that opens, you can see what was downloaded and where it was saved. To change the folder into which the files will be downloaded, you need to click on the "Options" label (below).

Also, directly from this window, you can open saved files, open the folder in which they are located, and erase information about all downloads (the "Clear list" button).

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here is a link to the file with the free Avast antivirus program:

By clicking on it, you can see a window with a proposal to save the content to the desired folder on your PC. Having chosen a suitable path, you must click "Save". After that, the download of the movie will start.

The proposed options will have at least three positions:

  • Free downloads with ads and low speed
  • paid download - completed in a matter of minutes;

The free download is safe to use. In reliable file hosting services, slow downloads last from 15 minutes. A little patience - and a movie, music or game will be on the computer. If there is a proposal for a demo period, you must refuse. After that, you will be redirected to another page. You will have to enter a captcha here.
