How to insert drivers on a laptop. Installing drivers and utilities on Asus

If you have a question about how to install drivers on a laptop, then there are several ways to perform this procedure: download software from the manufacturer's official website, use an automatic search or manual installation from a disk, or use the DriverPack Solution program.

Installation from the official site

The safest way to install drivers on your laptop is to download them from the device manufacturer's website. In this case, they will definitely have the current version and full compatibility.

But before downloading drivers, you need to know the laptop model. You can view this information on the device case, on the battery, or using system tools - for example, the command line.

  1. Run Command Prompt.
  2. Write "wmic csproduct get name" and press Enter.

The command line window displays the device model. If you do not recognize it, then you will not be able to understand what drivers are needed for the equipment to work correctly.

When downloading from the official site, one more condition is required - Internet access is required. If, after installing Windows, the system lacks the software for the network card and the Wi-Fi module, then you will have to download the drivers on another computer or install them from the disk.

The site may not have drivers for all devices - this also happens. But this does not mean that they are not needed, because they do not have to be installed. It's just that some drivers don't have a version for Windows 10.

Therefore, for example, if Windows 8 was originally installed on a laptop, then first you need to open the page with drivers for Windows 8 and install all of them. Then you can go to the Windows 10 page and see what updates are there - usually there are not many of them.

Installing Drivers

If you downloaded software for a laptop, it is also important to install it correctly, observing a certain order. But before installing the software, create a restore point. If something goes wrong after adding the drivers, you can quickly roll your system back to a healthy state.

  1. Windows updates.
  2. Chipset.
  3. Disk controller.
  4. Integrated graphics card.
  5. Discrete graphics adapter.
  6. Sound card.
  7. Network Card.
  8. Wi-Fi module.
  9. Bluetooth adapter.
  10. USB controller.
  11. Card reader.
  12. Webcam.
  13. Utilities for touchpad, keyboard (hotkey support), etc.

Usually on the manufacturer's website the drivers are presented in the order in which they need to be installed. Above are the most important drivers (for example, a chipset), below are utilities that you can do without, and manuals.

The hardware software is downloaded as executable files. Drivers are installed as usual programs, some require a reboot to save the new configuration. In any case, if you follow the sequence during installation, then no problems will arise.

Automatic and manual search

If downloading drivers from the official site seems too difficult, then try installing the drivers through the device manager from a disk or from a folder. With this built-in tool, you can find out exactly what drivers are needed, and then install them from disk or download from the Internet.

The order is not so important here anymore - just look at which device is marked with an exclamation mark. This designation indicates that the equipment needs to be installed or updated. How to carry out such an operation correctly:

If you run an automatic search, Windows will independently try to find out what drivers are needed, and then download and install the necessary software. When choosing manual search, you can specify a specific location where the drivers are stored. This method, for example, allows you to install the device software from a disk, if available.

In addition, some driver versions downloaded from the manufacturer's website may not have an executable file. To install such software, you will also have to use a manual search through the device manager. You just need to specify the folder where the drivers are located to start their installation.

Application of DriverPack Solution

If you do not have the opportunity to access the Internet from a laptop, automatic search does not lead to anything, and there is no disk with the hardware software, then use the DriverPack Solution program. This is a universal driver package that finds out what software a laptop needs and then installs it from its database.

DriverPack Solution does not always accurately determine the type of hardware and may deliver inappropriate software, but if you need to install a lot of drivers, then this is the best option. Errors, if they occur, can be quickly fixed by manually updating the software through the device manager.

After starting DriverPack Solution, it tries to find out the models of devices installed on the laptop. When scanning is complete, a list of drivers to be installed appears. A couple of recommendations for using the program:

  • Turn on expert mode.
  • Don't install all drivers at once, install them one at a time.
  • Clean up the startup list after using the program by disabling the automatic driver update application.
  • Do not forget to check the functionality of the equipment.

If a device does not work, reinstall its drivers using one of the methods listed above. In any case, the priority will be downloading software from the official website, but automatic search through the device manager will do.

Hello dear reader of my blog! The stable operation of the Windows operating system depends on how correctly you have installed the driver for the device.

In this article, I will show you how to install a driver for a device in the Windows operating system in several ways.

Driver is a program through which the Windows operating system gains access to a specific computer device (video card, network card, printer, etc.).

Choosing my motherboard model

I select the folder where to save the driver and click "Save"

Next, the downloaded driver must be installed. The driver can be supplied as an executable file (for example: setup.exe) or as a folder with driver files without an installation file. If the downloaded drivers have an installation file, there will be no problem installing it. Just run the executable and follow the instructions on the screen. If you have a driver in the form of a folder with files without an installation file, then read the next installation method.

3. Installing the driver through the device manager

If you have available a driver for a specific device (on a hard disk or flash drive), but there is no installation file and this driver is not installed on the system, do the following:

Open the "Start" menu, find the "computer" icon, right-click on it (hereinafter: RMB) and select properties ...

The system window will open, click on "Device Manager"

The device manager will open, in which we see all the devices installed on our system. If there is a yellow exclamation mark next to a device, it means that no drivers are installed for this device, or the driver is not installed correctly. We click RMB on the problem device and select "Properties"

We see in the properties of this device that there are no drivers installed for it. Click "Update driver ..."

Now we have a choice, either automatic search for drivers by Windows system, or manual installation of the driver. We select "Search and install drivers manually"

We tell the system where to look for drivers. To do this, click "Browse"

and select our driver folder. Click "OK"

We see that the driver for the device is being installed

If the installation is successful, a window will appear that the installation of drivers for this device is completed

Click "Close" and see that the yellow exclamation mark has disappeared from our device (TV tuner). The driver is installed!

If you do not have a driver for this device, then you can select "Automatically search for drivers". In this case, Windows will try to find a driver for the device on this computer and on the Internet.

But this method does not always work, so you better not rely on it.

Note: This method is described for the operating systemWindows 7. If you have installedWindowsXP orWindows 8, the steps will be similar.

4. Program for updating driversDriverPack Solution

DriverPackSolution is a program for automatic installation, search and update of drivers.

Well, in the next article I will tell you how to burn a DVD disc.

How to install drivers on a laptop if they are absent on the official website? Hello admin, I reinstalled the Windows 8 operating system on Windows 7 on a new laptop, then looked into the device manager and was stunned, there is no driver for ten devices. I do not even know where to start. Maxik.

How to install drivers on a laptop

Hello, friends! Just yesterday I got into the same situation, I came to visit my friend and he asked me to use a new laptop with a GPT hard drive. In addition, the new Toshiba laptop had another feature that sometimes made life difficult when installing drivers, or rather the so-called switchable video: Intel + nVidia, that is, two video cards. The first Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated into the Core i7 processor, the second discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M.

  • Note: Friends, of course, on the correct download all the drivers on the official website of your laptop, how to do it is written in our article :.
  • But you can also follow the path described in this article. In general, there is one on our site dedicated to finding and installing drivers, if this article does not help you, follow the link and read.
In short, that evening was still coming, and I came to drink green tea! In general, my friend didn’t want to bother me, and a few hours ago he called the masters he knew, but when they found out about the new laptop, Windows 8, GPT disk and switchable video, they all suddenly got sick at once. I also tried to get sick, and how much I did not dissuade my friend from leaving Windows 8, how many arguments in favor of the eight (after all, this is a new system from Microsoft and blah, blah, blah) it did not help.
A person is accustomed to Windows 7, for three years of work with this operating system he had no problems. In addition, Windows 8 did not like the Metro window interface, and most importantly, it was not possible to install several necessary programs, although the developers announced full compatibility with the eight.
In short, we decided to reinstall the system. I will not describe the entire reinstallation process, it is described in detail in our article, the link above. But on that how to install drivers on a laptop I will dwell in detail.

After a successful installation, I went to the Device Manager and was not surprised, the laptop is new and for many devices in Windows 7 there are no drivers.

Important : Before installing drivers on your laptop, first create just in case It was not possible to use the official website of the laptop to install the drivers, it was elementary because the drivers were not installed on the network card and Wi-Fi adapter, so I decided to use a very simple and free program DriverPack Solution, which contains a huge number of drivers for almost all known devices, I always carry it with me on a flash drive.

The program runs without installation and weighs 10 GB.

Select "DriverPack Offline" and click "Download"

Recently, many users do not like this assembly, since in the usual mode it installs various side software along with the drivers, but this will not happen if you install the drivers in the " Expert”, In this case only the selected drivers will be installed on your laptop.

To download, we need a free torrent program, you can download it on the official websitehttp://www.utorrent.com/intl/ru/

Open.

DriverPack Solution driver assembly is downloaded in ISO image - DriverPack_17.7.4_Offline.iso.

Connect the ISO image of DriverPack Solution to the virtual disk drive and run the executable file DriverPack.exe.

Personally, I create a folder on a USB flash drive or portable hard drive with the name DriverPack and copy the contents into it DriverPack Solution ISO image. When I need to install drivers on any computer or laptop, I connect a USB flash drive to it and run the executable file of the program DriverPack Solution, then I install the drivers, it's done like this.

The laptop configuration is checked.

We choose necessarily Expert mode!

We tick all the drivers for installation. The Intel eXtensible Host Controller USB 3.0 driver will be installed first.

We uncheck all the utilities and click on the "Install drivers" button

The driver installation process begins.

The entire driver installation process took 2 minutes. We go to the Device Manager and check if all the drivers are installed. So we installed the drivers on the laptop.

If you want to download drivers for laptop from the official Toshiba website, then please follow the link, choose the model of your device and download the drivers.

If you just recently bought a laptop or now want to install fresh drivers, there are several ways to do this. I'll cover some of them in this tutorial. We will consider how to automatically install drivers on a laptop, as well as manually. So let's go!

01. DriverPack Solution Program

The easiest way to install drivers on a laptop is to use a free program DriverPack Solution... You can't even imagine how simple it is. It is enough to download the latest version on the official website, run it and press the button " Install automatically".

The program will download the necessary drivers to the laptop and install them!

This option is suitable for those who already have a minimal set of drivers installed and the Internet working. If the Internet on your laptop is not yet configured, then we will go the other way, and it will take us a little more time.

The first step is to find a computer where the internet works well. Then go to the same site http://drp.su/ru and scroll to the bottom. There is a "DriverPack Full" version.

Download it and proceed to download the full version of the drivers. They weigh a lot ( about 10 gigabytes), but thanks to this kit we can install drivers on laptop, where even the Internet does not work yet due to uninstalled drivers for a network card or WI-FI.

We load the drivers and put them on the USB stick. We launch on a laptop and install them by pressing one button Install automatically.

The method described above in most cases ensures that the latest drivers are installed on your laptop. But the DriverPack program has its drawbacks. For example, if the Internet on a laptop does not work, then you will have to look for another computer with the Internet to download the full version of the drivers for 10 gigabytes. And along with the drivers, several programs are installed, which some users may not like.

02. Driver disc

When buying a laptop, a driver disk is always included with the device. If you have not thrown it out anywhere, and it lies intact and safe, then immediately after that you can insert the disc into the drive and install all the native drivers. There is only one minus here - the drivers are most likely outdated!

03. Manual installation

Most of the drivers can be installed manually by going to the official websites of the manufacturers. This method, of course, is longer, but despite this, it also has a right to exist. I described in detail how to install the driver on a laptop manually in the tutorial:. There, using a video card as an example, you will understand how to find absolutely any driver.

In my free time, I sometimes answer users' questions on the Q&A services Google and Mail.ru. One of the most common types of questions concerns the installation of drivers on a laptop, they usually sound like this:

  • Installed Windows 7, how to install drivers on an Asus laptop
  • Where to download drivers for a laptop of such and such a model, give a link

Most websites for manufacturers of laptops and other digital technology have a "Support" link on all pages, or "Support" if the site is in English only. And on the support page, in turn, you can download all the necessary drivers for your laptop model for the supported operating systems. Note that if, for example, you installed Windows 8, then drivers for Windows 7 will most likely work (you may have to run the installer in compatibility mode). Installing these drivers is usually straightforward. A number of manufacturers have special programs on their websites to automatically download and install drivers.

Automatic installation of drivers on a laptop

One of the most common recommendations given to users in response to questions related to installing drivers is to use the Driver Pack Solution program, which can be downloaded for free from the site http://drp.su/ru/. The program works as follows: after launch, it automatically detects all devices installed on the computer and allows you to automatically install all drivers. Or drivers separately.

In fact, I cannot say anything bad about this program, but nevertheless, in those cases when you need to install drivers on a laptop, I do not recommend using it. The reasons for this:

  • Laptops often have specific hardware. Driver Pack Solution will install a compatible driver, but it may not work quite adequately - this often happens with Wi-Fi adapters and network cards. In addition, it is for laptops that some devices are not detected at all. Pay attention to the screenshot above: 17 drivers installed on my laptop are unknown to the program. This means that if I installed them using it, it would replace them with compatible ones (to an unknown extent, for example, the sound might not work or Wi-Fi might not be connected) or it would not install at all.
  • Some manufacturers include certain patches (fixes) for the operating system in their own driver installation programs that make the drivers work. This is not the case in DPS.

Thus, if you are not in a hurry (automatic installation is faster than the process of downloading and installing drivers one by one), then I advise you to use the official website of the manufacturer. If you nevertheless decide to use a simple method, then be careful when using Driver Pack Solution: it is better to switch the program to expert mode and install the drivers on the laptop one at a time, without selecting the "Install all drivers and programs" items. Also, I do not recommend leaving programs in the autorun for automatic driver updates. They, in fact, are not needed, but they lead to slower system operation, battery discharge, and sometimes even more unpleasant consequences.
