This JPEG thumbnail is based on the settings specified by the camera. During the import of photos in Lightrum, the program features JPEG miniatures, identified from the RAW file. After trying to view the photo closer, Lightrum builds a new image directly from the source raw data, using its own presets. Lightrum presets and JPEG miniatures do not match, because of which the initial picture changes in front of her eyes.

Unfortunately, to get the exact repetition of all the settings of the camera is very and very difficult from the Lightrum. In fact, repeat all the camera settings - it is impossible. Only native software can display the RAW image on the computer in full compliance to the one that can be seen on the display of the camera. But in order to reduce the differences between the way, looks like a picture of the camera and in the program window - I recommend disable in the camera all additional functions which improve the image. 1. Set the camera profile.

This is a key point. The correct profile of the camera allows you to significantly improve the visual perception of the picture. Find a good profile for a specific camera - very and very difficult.

Usually, Lightrum has a set of basic profiles: neutral, saturated, landscape, portrait, etc. These profiles are very poorly correspond to similar profiles that are specified on the camera.

Search for a profile for your specific camera can do yourself. Usually, third-party developers are engaged in creating profiles. I am sure that for a large number of cameras find a good profile will not work. In this case, you will need to choose a profile that you like most.

An existing profile can be finalized, namely, set up a color displacement in the shadows, offset and saturation of each of the three main channels. After that, you can create a custom preset, writing on it only changes regarding Camera Calibration (when creating a preset, select only the "Calibration" checkbox).

2. Set the lens profile.

If the lens used is not in the list, you can make the parameter correction manually, and then write the result in the preset, which can be applied to all photos.

After this setting, the distortion should be leveled by the lens.

3. I optimize and expand the capabilities of the camera and lens.

Essence of action: Make the most beautiful / desired image through basic manipulations with exposure and color.

Everything is very simple here. Usually I choose one key photo from the series or even from the whole shooting and set it up for the main parameters:

• Enhanced DD - Restoration of Lights and Shadows (Highlight Recovery, Fill Light, Dark)
• DOUNDOWS OF POLITY (VIBRANCE)
• Enhance saturation (Saturation)
• CLARITY INCREASE
• Sharpening (Sharpening)
• Elimination of noise (noise reduction)

Here the main thing is not to overdo it. I try to take a photo of the "neutral positive" that all further manipulations have already repelled from the original "normal" image.

Important: The level of one or another configuration is highly dependent on the camera used and directly removed frames. For example, I clearly know and understand how it strongly affects one or another slider in liters on the RAW files of my cameras, and the new camera and processing of its RAW files should be used for a long time.

In the future, these settings will be applied to each photo.

4. Synchronizing all images by one key photo.

Essence of action: Create all the images under one basic view.

After all previous manipulations, I synchronize all photos with the changed settings. It is done very simple. In the 'Develop' section, all photos are selected in the tape (Ctrl + A) and the 'Sync' button is pressed. In the sync menu, I press the 'Check All' button, after which I remove the 'White Balance' checkboxes, 'Crop' (squeezing), 'Spot Removal'. The parameters removed should not be synchronized, as each photo has its own individual, cropping and point correction / restoration.

Synchronization is part batch processing. Upon completion, all photos are customized under similar settings.

After this manipulation in Lightrum tape, all photos are already more or less reduced to normal. Previous four points allows you to "display an image to zero" - save it from flaws of lens, camera and to the limit to squeeze the possibilities of the RAW file. After these four manipulations, it is already possible to begin the real subtle processing and prepare the image to the final stage, which the client sees.

5. Pouring all photos.

Essence of action: Repair crop drawbacks - Align the horizon, trim the photo with the right location of the parts in the frame, cut the key parts of the photo.

Unfortunately, refund one photo, and apply cropping to all photos of the tape fail. After synchronization basic settings i perform collapse of all photos. During the operation of the crop operation, I also selectively remove unsuccessful pictures from the Lightrum tape.

Important: I strongly recommend cropping photos with fixed frame proportions. The proportions of the classic frame are 3: 2. After the cropping, all photos have the same frame proportions and no difference during viewing. If this is not done, then after cropping, photos quadratics can turn out, strongly elongated stripes. This does not correspond to the overall style of tape photos. In addition, during the transfer to print with a 100% probability of part of the frame will be cut either to be filled with white space. Usually printed on standard sizes, which also correspond to the proportions 3: 2. For almost each shooting, I print a photo, either by mounting a photo book, for me it is very important to comply with the proportions after cropping. In order to keep the proportions of cropping in Lightrum, it is enough to click on the icon of the mounted lock.

After cropping and removing unsuccessful frames, I have a "licked" set of photos with which further manipulations can be carried out.

Important: I call all the indicated action ' Go to zeroSince these simple manipulations allow you to look at the image, devoid of basic flaws, raw, neutral, as a clean sheet, looking at which you can already conduct further thin treatment.

I believe that these manipulations allow 30% to improve the quality of the source image. The remaining 60% is the image refinement through Adobe Photoshop. (Photoshop, not Laitrum).

In my practice it often happens that after performing these five items, you can already get an image option that can satisfy me and my customers. Most often, processing is limited to only these five points, if you do not need to retouch photos (elimination of skin deficiencies, work with plastic, artistic color correction and other).

For me, the most difficult thing in processing is after bringing all photos from the series / shooting to a responding look - choose the best for finely refinement.

6. Export all photos (bonus item)

Essence of action: Get a ready-made result that can view any user / client on any device.

In this case, export is the process of exporting photos from RAW format to a format that is suitable for further processing, or viewing. If I plan anything else to do anything, then I export JPEG into pop format. If I further plan to refine photos in Adobe Photoshop, then I use the format 'TIFF' or 'DNG'. Recently, I was attacked by laziness, I do not use TIFF and export all photos immediately in JPEG.

Eventually my technical processing technoles is divided into two stages: Treatment in Lightrum and Processing in Photoshop. Lightrum - for basic settings, recovery of "turning" images, batch processing of tape photos. Photoshop - for the final "finishing" of photographs, retouching, manipulations with layers, masks and other things.

Philosophy

On the left, in the "Presets" windows, there are various presets for photos created by independently or already built into the editor. In the Snapshots section when working with images, you can take pictures. This is a temporary copy of the status of the photo at the moment. Such a snapshot remains relevant only in the process of working with the current image. If you wish, you can make several such copies of the photo at different stages of its processing. This is useful if there is a need to compare the status of the picture before making changes and after. So how to handle photos in Lytrum? The first tool that can be seen under the histogram on the panel on the right, in the Develop Module, is Croop (pruning, cropping). It is intended for trimming pictures to the desired size. Using this tool, you can, among other things, to level the photo with a littered horizon, rotating it. It does not need to manually perform scaling as in Photoshop.

The next on the panel is the cloning tool (an analogue of the stamp in the "Photoshop" editor). Next is the means of correcting the effect of "red eyes".
