I specially spent time on a detailed plate with characteristics so that it would be more convenient for you to navigate, and, in general, a lot about the smartphone becomes clear after a banal glance at it. But, of course, it's definitely not worth judging the device only by the specs.

Let's start with the design, in my opinion, it has changed significantly in comparison with the ZenFone 2, this applies to both the materials of the case and the appearance in general. The body is now made of tempered glass, appearance models became stricter, as many as four beautiful colors appeared. Fans of smartphone customization will love the special versions of the device with aluminum covers. I can't help but note that the side buttons were abandoned in this model, and the elongated element on the back cover is a fingerprint scanner.

The screen diagonal and resolution remained the same, but the quality of the display has improved, we will talk more about it in the full review, and 2.5D glass has also appeared.

I was pleased that the memory parameters in the minimum version were increased to a bundle of 3/32 GB. I think that for an undemanding user this will be enough for the eyes, and if not, then you can always install a memory card, but, however, it occupies one of the slots for SIM-cards. The mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 is responsible for the performance, its power is again enough for fast work devices. I can't help but note the transition to Qualcomm chipsets across the entire ZenFone 3 line, in my opinion, this is the right decision, given that Intel has no plans to develop Atom for smartphones.

They praised the camera and OIS stabilization very much, there was even a separate stand where they showed how much better the ZenFone 3 shoots when shaking, unlike the iPhone 6s Plus.

And now for the best part - the minimum cost of ZenFone 3 is only $ 250. In my opinion, this is a very good price tag, even taking into account our high rate.

I don't know if you remember or not, but in the review of the previous version of the Deluxe, I scolded Asus for the fact that the whole premium of the smartphone was in the original back covers and a larger volume internal memory... This time the company decided to make a real flagship out of the device. We figure out how this is manifested.

The Deluxe 3 has an all-metal body, while the company has made a special emphasis on the fact that there are no plastic rims, as in the iPhone, here. As in the regular Zenfone 3, the volume rocker has returned to the left end, where it is best to stay.

I was surprised to see how at the presentation they talked about the advantages of the SuperAMOLED display, for a long time Asus has not used AMOLED, last time it was in the first PadFone, if I'm not mistaken. The screen, according to first impressions, is very good, there were no problems with color reproduction, let's see how it shows itself in full testing.

The camera is also truly flagship, although, in fairness, all its main features are present even in the inexpensive ZenFone 3, except that there are fewer megapixels.

Performance is also at a high level: top-end Qualcomm 820, 4 or 6 (!) GB random access memory and up to 256 GB internal.

What can I say, this time the device really turned out to be flagship: design, performance, camera - everything is at the highest level, and I even consider the relatively low display resolution a plus, there is nothing to chase after the mystical 2k. ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be on sale from $ 500 for the younger model.

It's funny to say, but this device is very similar to Sony Xperia Z Ultra, apparently, he was inspired by the creators of Zenfone 3 Ultra. We are talking about both the name and the diagonal of the display. That being said, judging by the specs, it's a direct successor to the ZenFone Max.

The Ultra has a design similar to the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, the same body, only larger, another difference in the location of the fingerprint scanner, it was placed under the screen, and the volume rocker was moved back. I think this is not the most the best solution... Firstly, experience shows that this back button is simply inconvenient to use. And the fingerprint scanner moved down touch pad keys, as a result there is a large gap between them and the screen.

The display here is the same as on the regular Zenfone 3, only significantly larger. I cannot fail to note once again that the Ultra is very similar in weight and dimensions to the smartphone of the same name from Sony. This model has come close to the fine line between tablets and smartphones, but has not yet crossed it.

But I am sure that the big Ultra will definitely find its fans.

All three models have one more pleasant plus: a universal connector is used as a connector, although it is still uncommon USB Type C.

New flagship smartphone Asus was able to really surprise us. Unlike last year's plastic ZenFone 2, it looks really cool. The effect is achieved through a thin (7.5 mm) metal body with a matte texture. On the silver-colored casing, prints are almost invisible.

The extended volume rocker button disappeared from the rear panel. Instead, there is now a fingerprint scanner, for some reason the same oblong shape. It is difficult to say why it is not round or square, as is usual with competitors, but it is convenient to put your finger on it.

How fast and accurate the scanner is is still, alas, unknown. At demo stands, ASUS employees disabled the function for obvious reasons.

The screen of the smartphone is large: as much as 5.7 inches. It occupies almost 80% of the front panel, but it still leaves an inevitable imprint on the dimensions of the device. The smartphone seems overly wide, but you can work with it with one hand - a matter of habit.

At the heart of the screen is not a TFT IPS, but a Super AMOLED matrix. It is brighter and more economical.

The decision is commendable: such panels are brighter, more contrasting and better convey the depth of black. More importantly, they consume less battery power.

By the way, the Taiwanese did not pursue the Quad HD resolution, and limited themselves to the usual 1920 × 1080, that is, Full HD. This is another step towards rational economy. The density of dots per inch reaches 386 ppi, and this is already quite a lot so as not to worry about the picture falling apart into individual pixels.

It is not in vain that the manufacturer saves energy. Even with Full HD and AMOLED, you can hardly expect records in battery life with a capacity of 3000 mAh. But there is support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

It is important that this is not just a beautiful new plug, but a full-fledged USB 3.0 port, with the help of which data is transmitted and received at a very high speed.

ZenFone 3 Deluxe from the demo stand famously burst into the top of the AnTuTu benchmark with a score of almost 140,000 points.

The smartphone also knocked out 4330 points in the multi-core and 2150 points in the single-core test of the GeekBench 3 benchmark. All this is achieved thanks to the use of the fastest Qualcomm chipset to date - Snapdragon 820. The RAM in the most expensive modification of ZenFone 3 Deluxe is already 6 GB. Even such titans of the market as Samsung and Huawei are limited in their flagships so far only 4 GB.

There is good news for fans of high-quality audio too: both ZenFone 3 Deluxe and both new products support Hi-Res Audio in 24-bit / 192 kHz format. So far, we find it difficult to say how good the sound will be in headphones, but certainly not worse than in smartphones, where such a "trick" is not provided.

The Taiwanese decided that the sensor with a huge 23 MP resolution will surprise everyone, but we have more skepticism than joy about this.

The fact is that happiness is not at all in the number of points on the sensor. That is, if you take matrices of the same area and place 23 MP on one, and 12 on the other, then the second will be better to shoot. Because it will have a wider dynamic range, it will heat up less (it is because of this that noise appears) and will require less computing resources to work.

A good example is the battle of 12-megapixel Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and HTC 10 versus 23MP Sony X Performance. The Japanese flagship loses to its competitors precisely because of overexposures and more noise. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe will almost certainly have a similar story, but we'll check it out on occasion.

The rest of the camera is very happy. Fast autofocus with a speed of 0.03 seconds is declared, but here we are clearly talking about greenhouse laboratory conditions. In practice, the Galaxy S7 is sharper, although the Deluxe is by no means slow. Still, a triple system is involved: laser guidance, in phases and in contrast.

The F / 2.0 lens is protected by a sapphire crystal. The camera has 4-axis optical image stabilization, which is active when taking photos. When recording video, an electronic stabilizer is activated along four axes.

The price of ZenFone 3 Deluxe by the standards of flagships is quite humane: 500 bucks for the younger model.

Modifications, apparently, will differ only in the amount of built-in and RAM. The most affordable among them will obviously have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory.

Hybrid SIM slot: either 2 cards for communication, or SIM + microSD. The same is true for the other two devices.

ZenFone 3 Ultra

This huge 6.8-inch smartphone evokes, if not awe, then at least respect. A real joy for lovers for real large screens and a frightening monster for fans of compact gadgets. It's funny that at the same time it is even thinner than the Deluxe: 6.8 mm versus 7.5. But the weight is impressive: 233 grams.

The design continuity is obvious: the same outlines, the same all-metal body without the plastic "veins" of the antenna on the body. It looks decent, but we will not dissemble: it is absolutely impossible to work with such a device with one hand. The volume buttons on the back are hard to reach.

It is not hard to guess that the gadget was made for those who like to watch video from the smartphone screen.

Full HD resolution is quite suitable, although individual points on the IPS matrix with 326 ppi are already becoming noticeable to the naked eye. To enhance the immersive effect, the device has built-in stereo speakers.

The battery is impressive - its capacity is 4600 mAh. Asus promises not only fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 standard, but also up to 11.5 hours of video playback. With an AMOLED panel, they could squeeze out much more, but then it would hardly have been possible to keep the price at the level of $ 479 declared during the presentation for the younger version of the device.

The smartphone is also charged from USB Type-C, but here it is already without support for the 3.0 standard. Although it was supplemented with something. In the table technical characteristics there is an interesting thing - "HDMI support over USB Type-C". Useful if you often need to output presentations and video to a projector or TV.

The device is enclosed in a thin case with a metal frame, a fingerprint scanner is located on the glass back panel. A total of four colors will be available: black, white, blue and gold.

Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) in an all-metal case with "invisible" cutouts for antennas is equipped with a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, always-on mode is supported. The manufacturer promises up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of permanent memory, the flagship is responsible for the performance Snapdragon chipset 820. The main 23-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX318 sensor can record 4K video, and the optical stabilization system has not gone anywhere either. O front camera no information yet. The back of the flagship is slightly curved, the available colors are gray, silver and gold, and a separate collection will also be released.

The largest member of the Zenfone 3 Ultra line (ZU680KL) has a 6.8-inch display with Full HD-resolution 1920x1080, inside - an eight-core Snapdragon 652 platform and PixelWorks iris2 + TV coprocessor for 4K content playback. The amount of RAM reaches 4 GB, built-in - up to 128 GB. The 23MP main camera is the same as the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. The battery capacity has been increased to 4600 mAh. The button with the fingerprint scanner has moved to the front panel, at the bottom there are two powerful loudspeakers. There is also support for virtual 7.1-channel sound in headphones. Colors: gray, silver and pink.

The date of the start of sales of new products will be announced later, but the starting prices are already known: $ 250 for Zenfone 3, $ 500 for Zenfone 3 Deluxe and from $ 480 for Zenfone 3 Ultra.

Official sales of ASUS Zenfone 3 in Russian retail have started. Two modifications are available with different amounts of RAM and permanent memory.
