Virtual Machine Virtual PC: Installation, Setup, Running Games, File sharing with host. Installing and launching a virtual machine

After creating virtual machine In VirtualBox, it will be possible to start installing the Windows operating system (or any other) on the VirtualBox virtual machine. Installing operating system On the virtual machine, you can use several operating systems on your computer at the same time: the main (host) and guest (virtual).

The guest operating system installed on the virtual machine will work isolated from the main system installed on your computer. You can learn how to work in the new OS, test applications, run outdated programs, use virtual system For security purposes, etc. In this case, the main system will not threaten anything, and in the guest system you can produce any changes.

In previous articles on my site, we disassembled in detail the process of installing the VirtualBox virtualization program and the VirtualBox Extension Pack extension package to the computer, creating and configuring the virtual machine in VirtualBox (links to the articles mentioned here, you will find under this article). Now the final stage has been: installing the operating system in VirtualBox, setting up supplements for the guest OS VirtualBox Guest Additions, the final settings of the virtual machine.

After the virtual machine was created and configured, it will be possible to start installing the operating system.

In this example, I install in virtual windows Machine 7, on my computer installed Windows 10 (by the way, you can install an additional one more Windows 10 on the virtual machine).

Installing Windows on VirtualBox

In the main window of the Oracle VM VirtualBox program, select the desired virtual machine if you have several virtual machines, and then click on the Run button.

In the program window, the Virtual Boxing will begin the process of installing the operating system into the virtual machine. The process of installing the system itself does not differ from the installation of the system on normal computer. Complete all stages of the OS installation on a virtual computer.

After installing the operating system installation on the virtual machine, in the window virtualBox programs You will see Windows (or other operating system).

Virtual OS requires configuration to your needs, as a regular system on your computer.

Immediately after installing the operating system to install the virtual machine, you will need to set add-ons for the guest operating system - VirtualBox Guest Additions, which consists of a set of drivers and utilities. After installing the package of add-ons, the functionality of the operation of the guest OS is noticeably increasing.

Installing VirtualBox Guest Additions Addictions

In the running virtual machine window, log in to the "Devices" menu item. Further B. context menu Select "Connect the disk image of the awards of the guest OS ...".

After that, in the guest operating system you will need to open the conductor. In the Explorer you will see that the VirtualBox Guest Additions disk disk image is located on the site of the CD-DVD drive.

Now you will need to set add-ons for the guest virtual machine VirtualBox Guest Additions.

Pass the settings of the additions for the guest system, by sequentially pressing the "Next" button. Considerate the installation of software for devices.

After the installation package is completed for the guest OS, restart the virtual operating system.

Creating a shared folder in VirtualBox

The shared folder is needed to exchange data between the main (host) and guest operating systems. You will first need to create a shared folder on the main operating system installed on your computer. I have such a "Data Sharing" folder on a computer on one of the disks, which is designed to exchange data.

In the "path to folder" field, specify the path to the folder on the main system. Select "Other ...", and then in the Explorer window, select or create the desired folder.

In the "Add Shared Folder" window, place flags in front of the "Auto connection" and "Create a Permanent Folder" items, and then click on the "OK" button.

In the Explorer window, going to the "Network", in the VBXSVR folder you will see a shared folder. In the Virtual Boxing Program you can create multiple public folders.

After installing supplements for guests, remove ISO Image The operating system from the virtual machine drive, as the image image is no longer needed.

For more quick access, the general folder can be added to the "network location" of the conductor as network Disk. To do this, click on the keyboard on the "Windows" + "R" buttons. In the "Run" window, enter the following command in the "Open" field:

Net Use X: \\\\ VboxSvr \\ Name_Papka

Then click on the "OK" button.

After executing the command, the shared folder will appear in the conductor in the "Network Placement".

Creating a System Picture in VirtualBox

In VirtualBox there is very useful feature: "Snapshots". An operating system snapshot is the current state of the operating system at the time of typing. Essentially backup copy Recovery systems. You can create one or more pictures, and then restore the system in the state that it has at the time of typing.

Typical situation: an operating system was installed on the virtual machine, after it is setting and installing required applications, A snapshot of the guest operating system was taken. After that, the user "killed" Windows (or another system) has changed the configuration, etc. As a result of these actions, the operating system works with failures, or does not work at all.

Since it is a virtual OS, it can be easily removed from VirtualBox, and then install new system on a virtual machine. If a snapshot of the system was taken earlier, it would not be necessary to do anything. In this case, it will be possible to restore the system in working condition using the previously made snapshot.

To create a snapshot of the system, click on the "Pictures" button in the VirtualBox main window.

In the Snapshots tab, click the camera button. In the "Make a Virtual Machine Snapshot" window, you will need to give the name created by the picture, and in the description you can add additional information (I added a snapshot date). Next, click on the "OK" button.

After that, the process of creating a snapshot of the system in a virtual boxing occurs.

The snapshot of the system is created, access can be accessed from the main VirtualBox window. Just keep in mind that the snapshots of the system occupy a certain place on the disk of the guest operating system.

Recovery using a system snapshot

If necessary, for example, in case of serious problems with the guest system, you can restore the status of the virtual machine using the previously taken picture of the system. Recovery using a system snapshot occurs when the virtual machine is turned off.

Click in the VirtualBox main window to the "Pictures" button. In the "Snapshots" tab, right-click on the system snapshot, and in the context menu, select Restore Snapshot.

In the window with a question, agree with the recovery of the picture. If the guest system does not work, you can read the checkbox from the "Create a snapshot of the current system status" to not create an unnecessary picture, as the system does not work normally.

Click on the "Restore" button.

If you create a snapshot of the current state, then give it a name and description.

In the next window, click the Restore button.

The guest operating system will be restored on the virtual machine in a state at the time of creating a snapshot of the system.

VirtualBox update

To update VirtualBox you will need to download installation file. Programs of the new version, as well as the Extension Pack extension package of the new version. After installing the program, all previously made settings will be saved.

After starting in the Virtual Machine of the Guest Operating System, you will need to set the VirtualBox Guest Additions add-ons again. If several operating systems were installed in VirtualBox, then in this case, add-ons for the guest OS will need to be installed in each operating system.

Conclusions Articles

You can install the guest operating system on the VirtualBox virtual machine, set the VirtualBox Guest Additions addictions, create shared folders, take a snapshot of the system, and then restore the virtual OS using the snapshot.

Somehow a long time ago I tried to install Windows 2000 and see what it is. Now I want to just show how to install it. Naturally, I will not put it on my PC or laptop, for this there is an invention - a virtual machine. Show on the example. Well, we find out how to install windows 2000?

So, let's say you launched the installation. Before your eyes we see a blue window where we offer:

  • Proceed to installing Windows 2000 (you need to press ENTER);
  • Restore Windows 2000 (you need to press R);
  • Exit the installation program. If you change your mind, then press F3.

We need the first option. Click ENTER.

Agree with the license agreement by clicking the button F8..

A section appears where you need to place the disk. With an unblocked area, press the key. "C".

Select the volume for the system disk. I think 10 GB would be enough with interest. This is Windows 2000. But I have a lot of memory, I will leave 20 GB. Click Enter.

The "C:" unformatted section appeared in the work window. To format it, press ENTER.

Select the option "Format the section in the NTFS system".

The formatting process went.

Immediately the process of copying files to disk begins. This is not yet installation.

The computer reboots.

Windows 2000 installation running

Running Windows 2000, or rather installing this operating system. Wait a bit when it is initialized.

Finally, a window with a choice of language appeared. Since the window interface is Russian, I will not change anything. Just click further.

We ask the name and organization. The name is necessarily.

Enter the product key. I have already been in the archive document. You must have there. If you swing from there. You can try to rewrite the key from the screenshot, like me.

Here are the keys:

W3P8R-TQW69-YX2KY-M4GR8-6WFHJ
GTH3Q-2MKP3-DPK7B-X4PB7-GX99J

In the next window, enter the computer name, and if you want a password.

We indicate the date and time, as well as the time zone. You can mark the "Automatic transition for summer time and back".

I went to install network components.

Network settings window asks to specify typical Parameters or special. In our case, choose the first option.

We celebrate the first point "No, this computer does not participate in the network or the network has no domains".

The installation of components began, more precisely, full installing Windows. 2000.

End of installation.

Finally, after rebooting, a desktop appears. In short, everything is standard - basket, my documents, my computer and start. What else is needed for comfortable work? Well, of course, not internet Browser Explorer fuck knows what version.

Now you know how to install Windows 2000 on your PC. Good luck in general. If you have any questions, ask. I think Windows 95 we will not install. This version of the edge. Nobody uses it anyway, but you can just look at the installation course.

Before installing the system, it is necessary to create a virtual machine for it - its Windows will be perceived as a full-fledged computer. For this purpose, the VirtualBox program is intended.

  1. Run the VirtualBox Manager and click on "Create".
  2. In field "Name" Enter "Windows XP" - The remaining fields will be filled automatically.

  3. Select how much RAM you want to highlight under the installed OS. VirtualBox recommends using a minimum of 192 MB random access memoryBut if you have the opportunity, then use 512 or 1024 MB. So the system will not slow down even at a high level of workload.

  4. You will be prompted to choose a virtual drive that can be connected to this machine. We do not need it, because we are going to install Windows using ISO image. Consequently, the setting in this window does not need to be changed - we leave everything as it is and click on "Create".

  5. Selected Disc Type Leave "VDI".

  6. Select a suitable storage format. It is recommended to use "Dynamic".

  7. Specify the number of gigabytes that you want to select a virtual hard disk. VirtualBox recommends selecting 10 GBBut you can choose another value.

If in the previous step you chose the "dynamic" option, then Windows XP will initially take only an installation volume on the hard disk (not more than 1.5 GB), and then, as you use within this OS, the virtual drive will be able to expand a maximum of 10 GB. .

With a "fixed" format on physical HDD, 10 GB will immediately be occupied.

On creating a virtual HDD, this step ends, and you can go to the VM setting.

Setting up a virtual machine for Windows XP

Before installing Windows You can perform several more settings to increase productivity. This is an optional procedure, so you can skip it.

After setting up VM, you can start setting the OS.

Installing Windows XP on VirtualBox

  1. In the left part of the VirtualBox Manager, select the created virtual machine and click on the button. "Run".

  2. You will be prompted to select a boot disk for running. Click the button with the folder and select the location where the file with the image of the operating system is located.

  3. Installation starts windows utility XP. It will automatically perform their first actions, and you will need to wait a bit.

  4. You will welcome the installation program and will offer to start installing by pressing the key "Enter". Here and then under this key will be implied key ENTER.

  5. A license agreement will appear, and if you agree with it, then press the key F8.To accept its conditions.

  6. The installer will ask you to select the disk where the system will be installed. VirtualBox has already created a virtual hard disk with the volume you have chosen in step 7 when creating a virtual machine. So click ENTER.

  7. This area is not yet marked, so the installer will propose to format it. Select one of the four available options. We recommend choosing a parameter "Format the section in the NTFS system".

  8. Wait until the section is formatted.

  9. The installation program in automatic mode will copy some files.

  10. Window S. direct installation Windows, and immediately starts the installation of devices, wait.

  11. Check the correctness of the system and keyboard layout selected by the installer.

  12. Enter the username, you do not need to enter the name of the organization.

  13. Enter the activation key if it is. You can activate Windows later.

  14. If you want to postpone activation, select the confirmation window "Not".

  15. Specify the name of the computer. You can set the password for account "Administrator". If this is not necessary - skip the password input.

  16. Check the date and time, if necessary, change this information. Specify your time zone by choosing a city from the list. Residents of Russia can take a check mark "Automatic transition for summer time and back".

  17. Continue automatic installation OS.

  18. The installer will offer to configure network settings. For normal Internet access, select "Ordinary parameters".

  19. Step with setting working Group or domain can be skipped.

  20. Wait until the system finishes automatic installation.

  21. The virtual machine will be rebooted.

  22. After rebooting, you must perform a few more settings.

  23. A welcome window will open in which click "Further".

  24. Installer will propose to enable or disable automatic update. Select a parameter depending on personal preferences.

  25. Wait until the Internet connection is checked.

  26. Select whether the computer will be connected to the Internet directly.

  27. You will be re-prompted to activate the system if you have not yet done. If you do not activate Windows now, it can be done within 30 days.

  28. Come up with the account name. It is not necessary to invent 5 names, just enter one.

  29. At this step, the setup will be completed.

  30. Will begin download windows XP.

After downloading, you will get to the desktop and you can start using the operating system.

Installing Windows XP on VirtualBox is very simple and does not take much time. At the same time, the user does not need to search for drivers compatible with the PC components, as it would be necessary to do with the usual installation of Windows XP.

If you already installed two or more operating systems (such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or Windows 2000) before installing the VMWare system (such as Windows 95, Windows 98) and you used any of the multivariate downloaders to select the OS when the computer is started, then after VMWare installations naturally occurs a desire to not install the OS on virtual disks, and run on the virtual computer already installed OS from the physical disk. This feature was not in the first versions of VMware, but now it is available. The VMware system may even use the downloaders installed earlier on the computer. The bootloader will work inside the VMWare and will give the user to select the operating system that started on the virtual computer. You can and reinstall, for example, Windows 98 to the physical disk, and then run it in the virtual machine.

VMWare is still supporting the use of real disks only for IDE devices (while a file that simulates a virtual disk can be located both on the IDE and on the SCSI disk). When working with physical disks, you can use all three modes of working with disks: "With the record", "without recording" and "with a deferred entry" (see section on configuring a virtual machine). However, the use of the OS installed on the physical disk is associated with some features that need to be considered when setting up. In particular, in the operating system, you need to create two different equipment profiles, one for the OS started on the real computer, the second is for a virtual computer.

Each virtual machine consists of the following dialing of virtual devices:

  • Virtual CD-ROM
  • Virtual IDE and SCSI Hard Discs
  • Standard PCI graphic adapter
  • Standard Flexible Disc Drive
  • Intel 82371 PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
(INCLUDES PRIMARY AND SECONDARY IDE CONTROLLERS)
  • BusLogic BT-958 Compatible SCSI Host Adapter
  • Standard 101/102-key keys
  • PS / 2-COMPATIBLE MOUSE
  • AMD PCnet Family Ethernet Adapter (PCI-ISA)
  • COM1-COM4 serial ports
  • Parallel ports LPT1-LPT2
  • Sound card compatible with Sound Blaster 16

This set of virtual devices is different from the set of real-computer devices (with the exception of some devices, such as processor) and does not depend on the latter. If the operating system is installed directly inside the virtual computer, then during the installation, all these devices are defined correctly. If the OS is pre-installed on a real computer, it was configured based on the set of devices that actually had on this computer.

Microsoft operating systems (including Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0) use the concept of "equipment profile". Each profile defines some set of well-known system devices. If two or more profiles are specified, the user during the download is proposed to choose one of them.

Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 2000, thanks to the Plug and Play mechanism during the download process, check the correspondence of the actual devices to the specified equipment profile. The discrepancy leads to the fact that the mechanism for defining devices and installation of drivers is launched again. Although in most cases this process is completed successfully, it significantly slows down the download.

Windows NT does not support Plug and Play and uses equipment profile to initialize devices. The inconsistency of the real set of what is specified in the profile causes an error message and shutdown (or rather nonconnect) of the device.

From what has been said, it is necessary to start one of the Microsoft-OVOP operating systems inside the virtual machine, you need to create a separate equipment profile to simplify the boot process. Therefore, the process of creating and configuring a virtual machine that uses the operating system installed in one of the sections of the physical disk, has some differences from the process of creating a virtual machine running with virtual disks.

  1. First, inserve the operating system you want to run on a virtual computer, to a physical IDE disk of a real computer (naturally, it is not necessary to do if the OS has already been installed earlier).
  2. Before starting the VMWare system, download this OS (it means one of the Windows OS OS) on the real computer and create two equipment profiles. To do this, open the "Control Panel", log in to the "System" item and switch to the Object Profile tab. There is already at least one profile called "current (Original Configuration)". Click the "Copy" button and name new profile, for example, "Virtual Machine".
  3. Only for Windows NT: Disable some devices in the newly created profile. To do this, open the "Device" item in the "Control Panel", select the disabled device and press the "Stop" on-screen key. Disable the necessary audiolate, MIDI, joystick, Ethernet board and other networks, as well as USB devices (it is necessary to disable them only in the newly created profile, do not slip).

If you have installed and assume to run Windows 95 or Windows 98, it is not required to disconnect the devices. They will be turned off automatically at the OS boot stage.

  4. Restart the computer and run Linux (if you use VMware for Linux).
  5. Make sure the physical disk partition is assigned to use the virtual computer operating system is not mounted in Linux. Remove or complain the corresponding string in the file / etc / fstab, And in the given session, unmount this section from the command line.
  6. Set access rights to partitions hard disk.
The partitions of the hard disk from which operating systems run in virtual machines must be available both read and write for users who run the VMware system. In most distributions Linux Physical disks (such as / dev / hda, / dev / hdb) belong to the group dISK.. If so, you can simply add users of the VMware system to this group. You can also simply change the device owner. Please carefully consider security issues when choosing a way to provide access to discs.

The easiest and most reasonable way is to give users a VMware system access to all physical devices / dev / hd, which contain operating systems or bootloader, and in the deletion of access to rely on configuration files VMware. This provides access to the bootloader to the files you need to start operating systems (for example, LILO requires reading access to the / boot file in the Linux section to start operating systems other than Linux, which can be located on other sections or other disks).

  7. Configure the virtual machine for the newly installed operating system (using the configuration wizard or configuration editor). When performing a configuration procedure for real disks, consider the following points:
    1. When you select a virtual disk type, select "EXISTING PARTITION".
    2. For the disc partition in which the corresponding operating system is located, set the "READ / WRITE" option (for this you need to click on the "Partitions ..." on-screen key in the configuration editor window that meets the desired hard disk). For the main boot record (Master Boot Record - MBR) and for other partitions of the disk (s) it is recommended to give only reading (read only), because, for example, LILO bootloader to load the operating system should be able to read the file / boot. From the Linux section.

Note: Recall once again that if you allow the virtual machine to record in the section, which is simultaneously mounted in file System Linux, then unforeseen consequences are possible (see section of the warning. Therefore, before allowing the virtual machine to record in the section, make sure that this section is not mounted in Linux on the base lattice.

  8. Run VMware and check the configuration created.
To do this, you can give a command vmware. where - This is the full path to the configuration file created by the configuration wizard (names of such files ends on .cfg.. You can also give a simply command vmware. and open the configuration file through the "File / Open" menu.

Open the menu item "Settings\u003e Configuration Editor" and make sure that in the IDE configuration, at least one disk description file (RAW Disk Description File) is specified. These file names are .hda., .hdb., etc.

VMware uses special file. Descriptions for each physical IDE device. This description file contains information about rights that serves to control the virtual machine access to each partition on the physical disk. This mechanism allows you to prevent random attempts to run the operating system already running on the base computer, inside the virtual machine, or run inside the OS virtual machine, for which this VM has not been configured. The same description file also prevents accidental recording on a physical disk from the side into something incorrectly operating OS or applications.

You can check out other configuration options, especially those for which you made default values \u200b\u200b- for example, you can change the amount of memory allocated virtual machine.

  9. Turn on the power of the virtual machine ("POWER ON" button).
The VMWare system launches Phoenix BIOS, after which the main boot record is read (Master Boot Record - MBR).

If you configured the system using several IDE discsVMware BIOS will try to load OS from these disks in the following sequence:

    1. PRIMARY MASTER.
    2. Primary Slave.
    3. Secondary Master
    4. SECONDARY SLAVE

If you have several SCSI disks, the VMware BIOS downloads the SCSI device numbers.

If your system is configured both SCSI and IDE discs, VMWare BIOS first tries to load the OS from SCSI devices, then with IDE drives. The device survey is performed in the same sequence as mentioned above.

The procedure for accessing disks during the download process can be changed through the "Boot" menu item in the Phoenix BIOS virtual machine. To do this, after turning on the VMWare power on, press the F2 key to get into the BIOS menu.

  10. If you have multiple operating systems (multivariate download), select the required OS with the same method as you did before installing the VMware system (from the menu offered when loading).
  11. During the OS boot process, the configuration selection menu should appear (if, cunning, you created a separate equipment profile for a virtual computer):

Fig. 18.70 Enter the number corresponding to the configuration of the virtual computer (in the situation shown in the figure, it will be 2) and press the key. In the process of further booting OS, you will receive some error messages and additional delays in the download process, but this is normal.

  12. Only for Windows 2000: After you run Windows 2000 (as an OS on a virtual computer), you will see the "New Equipment Found New Hardware" dialog box in which it is proposed to install new Driver For a video controller. Do not do this. Click on the Cancel button to close the dialog box and refuse the proposed computer reset. Windows 2000 will automatically detect and install the driver for network card AMD PCnet PCI Ethernet.

After that, you must install the VMWare Tools package for Windows (on a virtual computer). After the SVGA driver is installed from VMWare, Inc. (Incoming the VMware Tools package for Windows), restart Windows 2000 on a virtual machine. After rebooting, you can change the screen resolution at the virtual machine ("screen properties / parameters").

If you want to use sound cardWorking with Windows 2000 on a virtual computer, read the Connection Guide on the company's website: VMware and Sound.

Only for Windows 95/98: You will see the New Equipment dialog box. Windows will offer you to make the search for drivers for him. For most devices, drivers are already installed when the system is installed, but in some cases the installation CD-ROM disc may be needed. Windows will ask you to reboot several times when installing new drivers.

In some cases, Windows may not recognize the CD-ROM disc when the driver search is issued. In this case, it is recommended to try to specify a directory as a path to the driver C: \\ Windows \\ System \\ or refuse to install the driver of this specific device. Connecting such devices can be completed later, after the system begins to correctly recognize the CD-ROM.

Windows Code will install virtual devices and drivers for them, you need to remove non-working devices from the system, corresponding to real equipment. To do this, use the Control Panel\u003e System\u003e Device tab. Select the non-working device and click the Delete key. Just keep in mind that you need to pre-select the equipment profile corresponding to a virtual computer so as not to delete devices running when starting the OS from the physical disk.

Only for Windows NT: After completing the OS download, view the download protocol to determine those devices that did not connect. You can disable them in the "Virtual Computer" profile using the devices manager ("Control Panel\u003e Devices").

  13. Make sure all virtual devices work correctly, especially network adapters. Remember that the composition of the virtual computer equipment is significantly different from the set of devices that are actually available on your physical computer.

Only for Windows 95/98: If there is no virtual device, use the Control Panel\u003e option to add new equipment.

  14. Install VMware Tools (if you have not yet done so). The VMware Tools package will run in both equipment configurations, but will have some kind of work on the "Virtual Computer" configuration.

Notes: 1. When you download Windows next time in a real computer, using the equipment profile corresponding to the actual configuration of the hardware, some virtual devices may appear in the device list. You can delete them or disable them in the same way that has been described above to disable real devices from the equipment profile corresponding to the virtual computer.

2. If you set a "with a deferred entry" mode for a real disk, you need to either agree that all disk operations made inside the virtual machine can be rebooted by the OS. Either refuse to save the changes. It is in that in this mode all disk operations were actually only remembered in a special file.redo, and the real record on the disk was not conducted. Learn more about disk modes, see "Configuring a Virtual Machine".

How to install a virtual machine On your computer and most importantly, what virtual machine to choose? Before you ask you this question, I wandered over the Internet and realized that the simplest in installing and settings, it is VirtualBox and Virtual PC, but there is also a Hyper-V and VMware. I understand that now you ask me: "Why do I need a virtual machine?" My answer: "I want to install different operating systems and experiment with them, it is very interesting to me: Windows XP, Windows 7, but especially Windows 8!" I installed with me Windows 7 works fine with all the applications installed in it, but the hype around new Windows 8 only increases and I don't want to stay aside, so you already have two dozen more articles on your site and further write. I think I think to install a virtual machine (just do not choose which one) install Windows 8 in her and slowly to study it, and you look in October, when the final windows version 8.1, I will install it with the second operating system. Mark.

Hello Admin! On the Microsoft website, and wanted to install it on the VirtualBox virtual machine, but the installation is error " VT-X / AMD-V hardware virtualization functions are included, but do not function." What to do?

How to install a virtual machine

Friends if you have never dealt with a virtual machine, I will explain to you in a nutshell that it is. Virtual machine, this is a real computer created inside your main operating system and in this computer, you can install other operating systems (several!) And not just Windows. You can, as you want to experiment with the operating system installed in the virtual machine, leave it on the Internet, install different softwarewithout being afraid to infect your computer with a virus, in short, connect your fantasy and you will find it apply.

For example, one of my acquaintance, I learned to re-install the operating system and divide hDD To several sections only with a virtual machine.

As for the choice of a virtual machine, about each of the existing ones, an article will be written on our site. I recommend you install a virtual machine VirtualBox, its capabilities are enough not only beginner, but also experienced userBesides, it is free. Start with it. Simple and intuitive settings, stable work, made it one of the most popular.

What are the virtual machines?

Virtual PC is free, very simply installed in Windows 7, go through the link to the Microsoft website, download and install.
http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download/details.aspx?id\u003d3702.
Paid, costs 222,53 €, but there is a 30-day trial period. This virtual machine is needed primarily for system administrators and software developers.
So it is decided, install VirtualBox virtual machine. We go to the site https://www.virtualbox.org/, press "downloads", choose
VirtualBox 4.2.16 For Windows Hosts. x86 / AMD64.

A virtual machine installer is downloaded, you must start it on behalf of the administrator, otherwise in the future you will be pursued when working with a virtual machine various errors. Click on the installer with the right mouse and select "Running on behalf of the administrator"

The program is very simple installed on our computer.

Run the virtual machine on behalf of the administrator.

Click on the "Create" button.

First of all, I will pay your attention to the fact that if you decide to install Windows 7 64-bit on the Windows 7 virtual machine, choose in windows list 7 64-bit. If you decide to install another operating system, such as Windows 8.1 64-bit, then we must select in the Windows 8.1 64-bit drop-down list and enter the invented name of the virtual machine, such as Windows 8.1, then click Next.

In this window, you need to specify the memory volume that you can highlight the virtual machine. Friends, you should understand that the RAM is not available to the virtual machine, the operating system installed on your computer will be unavailable. If you have only 2 GB from your RAM, then more than 1024 MB cannot be selected by the virtual machine, your operating system, when working with a virtual machine, will be very slow down. If you install Windows 8, then the optimal size for it is just 1024 MB. As we can see, 8 GB of RAM is installed on my computer, it means that I can select more than 1 GB, for example 2 GB.

Create a new virtual hard disk.

File type Select VDI

At this stage, we need to specify virtual format hard disk. If you note the "dynamic virtual hard disk" means space on your hard disk allocated for the needs of the virtual machine, it does not take immediately, but as files accumulate in your virtual machine. I recommend that you use this option.

Indicate the size of the virtual hard disk. If you first create a virtual machine, specify 50 GB, this is enough for installing Windows 8. But I personally indicate a larger volume for myself. Why? In the process of working with a virtual machine, I will install many operating systems, so I will indicate the volume of 240 GB.

You can create a virtual disk on a different system, it is very simple, click on the yellow daddy and the conductor will open, in it, specify any partition on your hard drive to place a virtual hard disk.

We see the outcome. So, we created a virtual machine, now it needs to be configured and installed in her finally windows 8.
We highlight our virtual machine and click "set up".

System. Remove the checkbox from the point "Dice". We leave the first CD / DVD-ROM boot device, since we will download the virtual machine from the installation disk or the image of Windows 8, we leave the rigid disk.

Parameter "Processor" Leave everything as it is.

"Acceleration" Hardware Virtualization must be enabled, you will certainly install a 64-bit operating system.

Display. Video. "Enable 3D acceleration" and "Enable 2D acceleration"
Video memory 128 MB

Media. A bit of your attention!

Your physical drive will be available in the virtual machine, in my case the drive "I" and if you have a Windows disc, you can use it to install the operating system, check the Live CD / DVD.
Also here is a virtual drive, connect the image with the Windows 8 operating system, which we downloaded in yesterday's article. In the "Media" parameter, select "Drive" and "Select an optical disk image"

a conductor will open in which you can choose downloaded image of Windows. 8, then click "Open".

The Windows 8 image will connect to the virtual drive.

Net . I celebrate the "Enable Network Adapter" checkmark. Connection type "NAT".

USB. We celebrate checkboxes. Enable USB controller. Enable USB Controller (EHCI)

What is a USB filter? Imagine such a situation, all USB devices connected to your computer will be determined in the operating system installed on your virtual machine. Naturally you do not need it. USB filters will determine which USB device must decide in a virtual machine, and what in the main system. To see how all this works in fact, you must first install an operating machine in our virtual machine windows system 8.1, but then you will become clear, read on.

To all the USB-2.0 flash drives connected normally work in your virtual machine, install the VirtualBox 4.2.16 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack plugin, download it to the office. site https://www.virtualbox.org/
