What to do if the computer does not see the iPhone via usb. IPhone won't connect to PC via USB

Hello everyone!

After I wrote several tutorials about the iPhone, the following question began to be asked more and more often: Sergey, why the computer does not see the iPhone... It's one thing when you were once asked about this, and another thing when this question is received regularly! I decided to deal with this issue, and as it turned out, the reasons for this can be very different and, naturally, the approach to solving this problem can also be different.

I have collected 10 tips that I want to tell you about here. Let's get down to business right away!

Reinstall USB Drivers

One proven way to fix this problem is to reinstall the USB drivers for the iPhone. We need through Device Manager uninstall them and then reinstall them.

First thing with via USB cable connect to iPhone computer... Next, go to the Properties of the Computer section and open Device Manager.

In the window that opens, find the USB Controllers section, or it may still be the section Portable devices... Open it and find the Apple Mobile Device USB item. You need to right-click on it and select Delete.

In the confirmation window, check the box " Remove driver programs for this device"and click OK.

Old, bad, not required driver will be deleted!

Now disconnect from computer USB iPhone cable and plug it back in. The driver will be reinstalled, as indicated by the following window:

Also on the iPhone, we should be asked for permission to give the computer access to photos and videos. Naturally, we click Allow.

In most cases, when the computer does not see the iPhone, this method will solve the problem. But if that didn't work for you, then let's try other tips!

Update drivers for chipset (USB)

Every computer has a motherboard and chipsets are installed on it. So these chipsets are responsible for connecting to a computer. various devices... For normal operation of chipsets, drivers are also needed. In some cases, the drivers start to work unstable. Most often this can happen if from some.

It happens that the computer not only does not see the iPhone, it cannot detect any other phones or flash drives at all. I just had this on the old Windows. Updated drivers for the chipset helped.

What to do in this situation?

First option. First, open the website http://devid.info/ru and click on the green Download button to download the DevID agend software for quick installation and driver updates.

When installing, uncheck the boxes so as not to install too much.

After starting the program, you can click Start Search and the program will scan the hardware and offer to update the old drivers.

Well if it will be fresh version drivers for the chipset. In this case, it will be updated. But if not, then we try the following actions.

1.2 Download and install the chipset

The second option is to download the drivers yourself and install them. Depending on your motherboard, it could be a chipset from intel or from amd. Let's consider the installation using intel chipsets as an example.

On the official Intel website, here at this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com you can download the program for the chipsets. Click the blue Chipset button.

1.3 Auto-match Intel drivers

The third option. You can also make Intel choose the drivers necessary for our system. To do this, they have on the site special utility, which will scan our equipment and install the necessary programs.

Click Trust Computer

Please note that when we connect our phone to the computer, a request appears on the screen, where we must allow access to settings and data. Just click Trust.

Connect to another USB connector

Try to change USB connector... Especially if you plug in the cable from the iPhone to the connectors on the front panel system unit... Try plugging the cable into one of the connectors on the back of the system unit. These connectors are directly soldered to the motherboard and they work as cool as possible!

Reinstall iTunes

I hope you know that in order to fully control our iPhone on a computer, we need iTunes programs for Windows. If it does not work well for you, then you need to reinstall it. Or you can just update.

Download the latest version and install over the old one. The program will be updated.

Restart Apple Mobile Device Service

Before performing this step, be sure to disconnect your iPhone from your computer and close iTunes. Now we need to restart Apple services. Because you never know, they suddenly get stupid.

Open the search bar by pressing the WIN + Q hotkeys and enter Services in the search bar.

Run the found program and find Apple service Mobile Device Service. Open it with a double click.

We stop the service.

Now you need to make sure that the startup type is set to Automatic and then restart this service.

Open the computer section and find iPhone

After iTunes updates and restarting the Apple service, the computer should certainly see the iPhone now. Open the Computer section and find your phone here.

In my case, it is at the very top, but you may have it at the bottom. Be careful, if the computer sees the iPhone, and you just don't pay attention to it here!

Connect iPhone to another computer

If you connect your iPhone to another computer, you can immediately understand where to dig next. If another computer sees the iPhone, then the problem is most likely on the side of your computer, which does not see the phone. If other computers or laptops do not see the iPhone, then there is certainly something with the USB cable or with the phone itself! For reliability, I would connect the phone to two different computers on which there are different systems.

Breaking

If none of the above methods solved the problem and the laptop or computer still does not see the iPhone, then something has broken in the device itself. I think that just the power connector into which the cable is inserted is simply out of order.

Try it, test it and I hope you succeed.

iPhone doesn't look like standard storage devices. It can be connected to a computer via a USB port and used as a regular USB flash drive: transfer photos, music and videos, view footage. But this is not the full potential of the device. If you sync it with your PC and use special program, it will be possible to download applications, books, music albums favorite bands, cut ringtones, save a data backup, reset settings, listen to the radio, watch TV shows, shop at the Apple utility store, edit your data in account... And this is only a small part of the gadget's capabilities. Understand how to connect an iPhone to your computer through an iPhone in order to take advantage of all these functions.

To fully work with the iPhone, you need to download certain software to your PC. It is on the official Apple website. It is necessary to pair the iPhone using both USB and Wi-Fi. If you plan to use Apple Gadgets, these utilities must be installed.

  • iCloud. Network storage. Provides general access to files, contacts, mail, calendar, notes, friends list. If you install the application on all your gadgets, they can exchange data directly. You can also go to the storage through a browser - to do this, open the iCloud.com page.
  • iTunes. File manager and main service for sync iPhone and PC. Without it, it is impossible to figure out how to connect an iPhone to a computer. This program is used to control the gadget, download programs and files to it. With its help, you can buy content in the AppStore, activate gift cards and send them to friends. Also, iTunes has a built-in media player. There are others file managers(like iFunBox or iTools). But they are unofficial.

USB connection

You need a USB cable to pair with a PC. It should be included with the iPhone - in the box. It is better not to use other wires. If the original cable is lost or damaged, you can purchase the same one. The main thing is to choose the components that are suitable for your gadget. A wire with a 30-pin connector ("fat charging") is intended for older devices. Lightning connectors ("thin") - for new generation devices.

For such a connection, only YUSB 2.0 and higher ports can be used. With the slot version 1.0, the system will issue a notification that everything can work faster. And she will not "see" the gadget.

Here's how to connect your iPhone to your computer via USB:

  1. Install the most new version iTunes.
  2. It is also advisable to download iCloud.
  3. Turn on your iPhone.
  4. Connect one end of the cable to it.
  5. Insert the other into a USB port on your PC.
  6. He must determine the presence of a new device. If you sync your iPhone for the first time, the Apple Mobile Device drivers will be automatically installed. They can also be downloaded from the manufacturer's official website.
  7. Unlock your phone. He will give a notification "Do you trust this computer?" Click Trust. The message “Do you want to allow this device to access photos and videos?” May appear. Tap "Allow".
  8. ITunes should start. If it doesn't, open it manually. Through this program, you can interact with the gadget.
  9. Wait for the sync to finish.
  10. Also, the iPhone icon will appear in the "My Computer" menu as portable device or an external drive.
  11. To enter the device overview in iTunes, click on the button with the phone icon. She is on the top left.

Wi-Fi

In addition to the USB connection, you can create a Wi-Fi connection. To do this, all synchronized devices must be on the same network. That is, access the Internet through the same router.

You will not be "tied" to the PC by a wire. However, not all functions are available in this mode. For example, it will not be possible to restore a gadget from backup or update the software. And this pairing quickly drains the battery.

Here's how to connect your iPhone to your computer using a wireless connection:

  1. Go to iPhone settings.
  2. Open the "Wi-Fi" section.
  3. Slide the switch to ON mode. It should turn green.
  4. Select your network and enter your password if it is secure.

Now set the sync parameters. To do this, you need to connect the iPhone to the USB connector. Once set up, you can use wireless communication. And through her to work with Aytyuns.

  1. Connect iPhone cable to the PC.
  2. Open iTunes.
  3. Click on the phone-shaped icon. She is on the top left.
  4. In the "Overview" section, scroll down the page.
  5. Check the "Sync over Wi-Fi" checkbox.
  6. Click "Apply".

Now you can try to connect "over the air" via wireless networks. First, disconnect the USB cable. Later:

  1. Open iPhone settings.
  2. Go to the "General" section.
  3. Scroll down the page.
  4. "Sync with iTunes" menu.
  5. Tap on "Synchronize".

Now settings and device files will be available in iTunes.

Bluetooth

Pairing is also possible via Bluetooth. If it is on the devices you want to pair.

  1. Enable it on your computer or laptop beforehand. Activate your PC's visibility to be found by other gadgets with Bluetooth enabled.
  2. Go to iPhone settings.
  3. Move the slider to ON mode.
  4. Find your PC in the list of devices and tap on it.
  5. A message with a code will appear. The same numbers should be displayed on the computer. This is necessary in order not to accidentally sync with an unfamiliar gadget. In some cases, numbers must be entered manually.

iPhone as a modem

Through the iPhone, you can distribute the Internet to other devices and use it as a modem. To do this, you need to create an access point. The PC connected to it will use the mobile operator's network.

  1. Go to the gadget options.
  2. Section "Modem Mode" ("Personal Hotspot").
  3. Move the checkbox to ON mode.
  4. If you are using USB sync, the PC will additionally install additional driver... And the iPhone will appear in the list of network connections.
  5. Or activate Bluetooth pairing.
  6. Also in the settings of the Apple device there is a Wi-Fi password. With it, you can add many devices to one network. Just enter it on each PC.

Since it is much easier to connect an iPhone to a computer via USB, this connection is usually preferred. With it, you can simultaneously work in iTunes and charge the battery. And he has more functionality. But wireless network more convenient and practical. With it, you are not limited by the length of the cable. And with Wi-Fi, the iPhone can be used as a router to access the Internet from multiple devices.

Although modern iOS devices can be used independently of a PC, there are situations when it is necessary to use this option. When the computer does not see the iPhone connected via the cable to the USB port, the problem is in the drivers for iTunes or other services. Sometimes things are easier because the cable may break or the iPhone was simply not connected correctly. First you need to find out the cause of the problem in order to correct the situation.

Why the computer does not see the iPhone

The most common response to the question of why the computer cannot see the iPhone is a problem connecting to the iTunes service. Sometimes, to solve this problem, you need to press the confirmation of the connection to the PC on the mobile device. If after this action the PC does not see the iPhone, it is worth checking the functionality of the USB port. Problems can arise due to old versions of programs, applications and drivers for the motherboard chipsets. In other cases, the consultation of the master will help to find out the cause of the situation.

Broken cable

The main reason for not connecting the device to the PC is a faulty or damaged connecting cable. Inspect the existing USB cable for damage. There are times when the contacts are damaged inside the wire (visually it is difficult to identify) and the computer does not see the iPhone. To check, compare the operation of the device with another cable: if the problem is in the accessory, then everything will work out. Are you convinced that the cord is damaged? You can solve the problem as follows:

  • to acquire new cable;
  • try to fix it yourself;
  • contact a specialized service center.

The iPhone does not connect to the computer via USB

The second most common are problems with USB port ami: The connection is unstable or the device is not detected at all. May be present mechanical damage connectors of both the PC and the mobile device or their clogging. Perhaps, if there is no synchronization, the computer does not see the iPhone: its operating system is outdated. There can often be a solvable problem with USB driver... Security software interferes with the communication between the PC and the phone and may also interfere with the connection.

Error starting Apple Mobile Device service

Restarting the mobile device or laptop helps to resolve the desynchronization issue. It happens that the PC fails to start the Apple Mobile Device service. It can be hindered by third-party software or a common "glitch" that can be fixed by restarting this service. The way to fix incorrect work is to reinstall, which is done simultaneously with reinstalling all software components of iTunes.

Why iTunes doesn't see iPhone

Apple device users are constantly faced with problems of interaction with a PC. In some cases, iTunes does not work on a computer, in others, errors are displayed. Unresponsiveness may be due to a defective cable, USB port, or slot for charger... Apple service status error, old drivers, anti-virus prohibition, or malware impact occurs. Outdated version of iTunes or operating system device interferes with normal synchronization and, as a result, the computer will not be able to see the iPhone.

Problems with iPhone

The laptop or PC will not be able to recognize the connected device when the iPhone is not working. It may not respond to pressing and touching the screen, or it may simply turn off. Try restarting your iPhone forcibly. Hold the lower volume button (for newer models) or Home (for iPhone 6 and below) and the Power button until the apple appears on the display.

On average, this takes about 10 seconds. Otherwise, connect your phone to a charger for at least an hour. Typically, the device starts charging within a few minutes. In case of failure, it is worth checking the integrity of the connector, cord and adapter. Parts must be undamaged and clean. After making sure that the charging system is visually in order, but the computer does not see the iPhone like that, you will have to use the help of the service center.

What to do if your computer can't see your iPhone

Users may face an issue where an invalid iPhone response is received when trying to connect. This often happens due to the Lockdown folder in the files software Apple. The fix for this problem is simple. Windows users need to go to the Apple folder in the Application Data or ProgramData section in Explorer and delete the folder called Lockdown in the trash. After the restart, iTunes should resume, and the PC will begin to recognize the Apple Communicator.

The process goes through the stages that are important for you to complete:

  • connect USB cable to the device;
  • connect to PC;
  • next is the installation of iTunes (if this program has not been installed earlier);
  • launching and configuring synchronization.

To use all the features that are on your "apple" phone, you should connect it to your computer. The fact is that today almost all modern mobile phones depend on the PC, because it allows you to fill the device with the necessary data.

First of all, check the cable for possible cracks or cuts. If the inspection did not reveal any problems, then you need to try to insert the wire into another USB port - it is possible that this is the case.

Sometimes the computer does not see the phone if some services are not running. For example, try checking the status of Apple Mobile Devices. To do this, go to the Computer Control Panel, then to Administrative Tools, then to Services, select the Apple Mobile Devices service from the list. Everything is fine if the service is running.

It is possible that the matter is in the power microcircuit, which can be damaged or simply ordered to live a long time. Unfortunately, the part is expensive.

If the computer does not see the phone, the problem may lie in iPhone firmware 3 or in a USB cable. To be sure the firmware doesn't fail, it must be official. Any illegal firmware can lead to software glitches... Try restarting your phone to troubleshoot.

When the iPhone is connected to the PC, users can go to the "My Computer" section, where the phone should appear as a digital camera. After the device appears on the monitor, you can copy all the photos and videos from the iPhone to your computer. Today this is the only function that does not require any special knowledge. All other features of the iPhone can be carried out using iTunes programs which not only can sync, but will also help:

- install games and applications;
- Upload a photo;
- upload music;
- create and install ringtones;
- transfer books;
- record video files;
- sync contacts.

IOS devices, of course, in most cases are able to do without using USB, but still there are situations when the use of a cable is simply necessary. And even with the use of USB, problems can arise - where without them, nothing is perfect. So why the computer does not see the iPhone via USB: we tell the solution.
One of the most common problems with iTunes is the inability to find a connected device. There may be several reasons for this error, but often the failure lies in the trusted connection mechanism (keys are saved on both devices for future login). By default, with such an error, a message like "Trust this computer?" next time you connect.

We will consider a scenario where, after a negative response, a repeated request is no longer shown. Fortunately, this problem can be solved in just a few steps.

Solving the problem on OS X

We think it would be right to start with the native environment for iTunes - OS X. Thanks to optimization, problems on this operating system occur much less often, but are not excluded. The first thing to try is to clear the entire contents of the Lockdown directory. To do this, first disconnect your iPhone from the computer, press simultaneously the "cmd + shift + G" keys and go to / var / db / lockdown /
If everything is done correctly, you will see a window with the certificate files that need to be deleted.

Now we are trying to connect your device to a computer, and when asked about the trust of this computer, we answer in the affirmative. The computer should then see your iPhone via USB.

Solving the problem on Windows

You can solve the problem on Windows in a similar way, although this OS is more stubborn in this regard. True, the location of the certificate files is different, and there is a need to display hidden files. To do this, go to "Folder Options", then - "View" and select display hidden files and folders. On different versions Windows path to files will be different:

  • Windows XP: C: \ Documents and Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \ Apple \ Lockdown
  • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10: C: \ ProgramData \ Apple \ Lockdown

If these manipulations did not lead to anything, then you can resort to more difficult way... In Windows, go to Device Manager, then right-click on your Apple device. We select "Update driver", and then we search for drivers on this computer through the item "Select a driver from the list of existing ones."

Now we select the item "Install from disk" (or alternatively, you can try to install from a USB drive or phone).

In the "Install from disk" window, select the "Browse" option and go to the following address: C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Apple \ Mobile Device Support \ Drivers
Here we need the usbaapl file, select it. If it does not exist or such a folder does not exist, you should look for it in the C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Common Files \ Apple \ Mobile Device Support \ Drivers folder

Finally, click on the "Ok" button, and then click on the "Next" button to complete the driver installation process. Now you can connect your iPhone to your computer and check if it sees it. In most cases, this particular method turns out to be the winning one.

Summary

Also, we cannot note the fact that most of the iPhone users do not care about their device, throwing it into their purses or pockets, where there is still a lot of small things and garbage. With the constant placement of the phone in such an environment, its recesses will inevitably become clogged with debris, which can one day play a rather cruel joke with the device. If the above recommendations did not help, you can try taking a brush and cleaning the entire body of the device. Sometimes it helps.

If the phone is no longer displayed on the computer after falling, getting wet or a software failure, then it is advisable to take it to a service center.
